Should I get an unfill?
Joyle265 replied to sawyer77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going on 3/1 to have some liquid removed. I know I am past restriction. I am sliming, have severe acid reflux, can't sleep at night, gurgle all day long, have pain when I swallow my pills that are cut in 6th etc. I would have gone in sooner if my doctor wasn't on vacation. I had my last fill on 12/22/10 and didn't star feeling discomfort until the end of January. It just keeps getting worse daily. Good luck to you and make the healthy choice. -
Can someone help me understand
Joyle265 replied to butterfly815's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 4/8/09. My doctor allowed 1/2 cup of food for the first year and recently told me I could have up to 6 oz at a setting. I have a protein shake every morning after working out without fail (Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey double chocolate is the best). When I would get hungry I would supplement with sugar free jello or pudding or sugar free popsicles or no sugar added fudge sicles. I am not allowed to drink out of a straw (causes gas build up and drinking too quickly) or to drink any carbonated beverages. I am also not allowed to drink 1/2 hr before I eat or while I eat or 1/2 hr after I eat. I have tried to wash food down with liquid and that does not work, because my throat just fills up. I hit restriction at 6.6. You will hit restriction too. Just be patient. -
To me restriction is not being hungry for 4 hours. Being satisfied. Right now I am beyond restriction and it is painful and not a good thing. I get little sleep at night because of acid reflux which is horrible. I have never had it before. Everything gets stuck including my antacids, Biotin, etc that I cut in 1/4. I am going to the doctor March 1 to have some liquid removed. I don't eat much now which is great, but it is not worth it. It is a fine line between restriction and too much. Good luck to all.

Third Fill and no restriction!!
Joyle265 replied to targethungry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 4/8/09 and hit restriction (too much so) on 12/09. I entered the office at 6.5 and was at 6.7 when I left and could eat hardly anything and was sliming and could not even drink my protein shake. I went back 1 1/2 months later and the doctor took me down to 6.2 which was lower than I started because he said my stomache was inflamed and needed to heal. I was back to being hungry all the time and he took me bck to 6.5. In December of 2009 I again was hungry all the time at 6.5 and the doctor put in 6.7 again. I was fine for the first month and then started to feel sick when swallowing a pill or from eating. Around 2/1/11 I started having acid reflux everynight and am taking omerprazole (2 a day), 6 tums, gas x, and liquid Malox at night. I cannot get into the doctor until March 1 to have liquid removed. I cannot sleep at night, feel like I am choking, and have severe gas pains, and cannot each much or drink much. Take it slow with the fills and don't go too far. It is not worth it. I was in the same boat you were and felt like my willpower would not hold out, but you can do it. Good luck! -
Surgery Date April 8, 2009. I had my last fill Dec 30 and went almost 1 month with pain from eating. It was pain in between and just below my breast area. I am figuring that is something stuck in my band. I am going in in two days to get some liquid taken out of my band. Just made the appt today. I had a horrible weekend with pain from most items I ate. Salad hasn't bothered me in the past week so I decided to have a salad tonight and big mistake. I am in so much pain, I have been doubled over and crying (not like me at all). This pain is different and I believe it is gas pain. It is in my lower abdomen. I have taken 3 pepcid dual action chewable tablets and 4 tsp of Maalox advanced maximum strength and no relief. What can I do? I only ate about 2 oz. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 hrs. Any suggestions?

Drinking water to clear blockage
Joyle265 replied to john47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you say sliming do you mean that you salivate continually until the blockage goes through? I think I am having a stuck moment right now. I have serious pain below my breasts right between them. I cannot quit spitting because I feel like I am going to throw up if I swallow. I have had this before and it is hit or miss. I make sure I chew my food really well and wait between bites. I cannot drink anything to clear it because that causes extreme nausea. I was eating a salad tonight and last night and cannot eat even two small bites before I experience pain. I just want it to go away.
