Yes, the short times I do sleep, I have very weird dreams- however, none of my involve food, they're just bizarre. Rosebud said she had that problem two for about a week and half, so hopefully sometime next week we'll get to sleep peaceful sleep. I'm having a problem with excessive mucus which apparently isn't common with sleeve sugery (leave it to me) and Dr. Aceves is a bit perplexed. I'm hoping it goes away soon - it is most unfun and the coughing keeps my throat feeling sore and raw all the time ... so those popsicles feel pretty good.

It all sounds yummy!

I've only got before photos to post now, however, I am looking forward to posting my loss along the way. Which is something for me, as I have always tried to avoid being in a picture at all for any reason. I tell people I have "photosensitivity" (allergic to cameras) ... which in fact is actually sun poisoning but they don't know that usually. :tea:

Well, hey, when you're done with your house - you wanna come and clean mine wonderwoman? I spend alot of time on the computer (too much) and it's hard to eat and type, so that's an option ... another, like you, is needlework and walking. Will be interesting to see what others come up with as well.

Hello all...date set!
Malaika replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can go here and make your ticker - then you cut and past it into your signature Weight Loss - Diet Ticker Alex has a tutorial for doing that if you are not sure now to do it - it's not that difficult. You cut the code from the tickerfactory and paste it into your signature and then save your signature. Welcome to the site - you'll love it -- and now Steve will have someone to hang out with in the men's room ... LOL -
I've taken PPIs for years - Prilosec and then Nexium and I was NEVER told to take any additional supplements. What dosage is recommended Elisabeth?

time after meals when you can drink
Malaika replied to Oregondaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, by about 15 minutes  -
No, it's not any better. I was hoping since I went back to work yesterday and was busy all day - more mentally than physically I must admit and then went to Borders and Wal-Mart afterwards, that I would be able to sleep. I even stayed up until midnight (and was up in the AM at 5:30) and I STILL only slept 90 minutes and then I'd be awake for at least 30 and then another 90. I'm so sick of this. I should have had Dr. A give me a prescription for Ambien. I just never thought sleeping would be one of my problems. :001_smile:

I was using them for the pre-op diet. I don't have any left and probably won't buy anymore as there are so many other options out there and I don't have the schedule you have. BTW ... when can I start drinking coffee again?
-
I agree with you Elisabeth and I have pretty much set the same mini goals - 10 lbs a week and I'll be thrilled. As of this morning, I am down 13.6 and surgery was a week from yesterday. I know once I start on real food, that the weight loss will probably slow down a bit; however I intend to take full advantage of it for as long as I can. I'm starting my walking regime today and will be glad when I can start on weight resistance and other exercises.:001_smile: Keep up the good work both of you.

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Malaika replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't believe what a moron I am...I was laying in bed last night and then the light bulb went off ... not 10 different times in an hour ... just get the balls up 10 times each hour ... and I took that to mean basically once an hour for 10 reps, so to speak. Man I hope the effects of this anesthesia get out of my system soon. I hate how it's affected my memory and I feel in a fog. -
Welcome Marci and wow ... big high five on your loss ... that is absolutely amazing ... no wonder you act different, you've got your life back and you're the person on the outside now that you've always been on the inside. Congratulations!!!:001_smile:

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Malaika replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Luckily I have no immediate family nearby except my sons - one who won't talk to me because I won't support his alcohol addiction and the other lives in Henderson and doesn't see any good reason to get a driver's license ... so I don't have to worry about snoopers. The reaction of your family is exactly the reason I didn't tell anyone I was doing this and since my return, the only thing I've told anyone is I had hiatal hernia repair surgery (which isn't a lie as Dr. A did find a sliding hiatal hernia and he repaired it) In hindsight, I now wish I had not told anyone ANYTHING however, hindsight is 20/20. I figure when I continue to lose weight there may be questions and the best I can come up with is that since I was on the liquid diet following the "repair" surgery, and my stomach had shrunk (not a lie ) and I was finally losing weight, I decided to take this time to get on a healthy diet and exercise regime and lose as much weight as I can. In reality, it really is NO ONE's business but your's and your husband's. I think your family has been watching too many movies or something about Mexico ... print out things from this forum and let them read them ... surely they wouldn't believe that we are all "fake" and will start to see that you will be in the BEST HANDS and that you will come home afterwards. Hang in there and hang onto those "balls" -- family is family; however there is no reason you can't stand up for yourself all the time! -
No, I haven't heard from her or DebKing either - they were going together -- of course, so were there husbands, so who knows, maybe they are so busy partying that they've forgotten about us!

So I could eat 60 of them a day and get in my fluids huh?

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Malaika replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have that same thing -- like right now I feel as though I'm starving and so am fixing some beef broth ... that will be great if that feeling goes away on full liquids. -
Oh that would be SO WONDERFUL ... I'm drained. I've never had trouble sleeping before and although I don't need 8 hours, I do need at least 5 without interruption.

Malaika replied to roseyandmusic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 40 mg. was running at $40.00 USD for a box of 14 - which broken in half would give you almost a 1 months supply. -
A question from my fiance
Malaika replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think he meant that the one incision where the drain bag was, once the drain is removed, and covered with gauze will drain. It is so minimal that it's barely noticeable ... I'm not sure where he read that or what he thought when he did. It's no BIG DEAL at all. -
OKAY - so my fiance won't register here but wanted me to post the same question he posted on Dr. Aceves website ... so here goes .... "My fiancee is having her surgery on the 12th of this month. I am not worried about her having it, what I am concerned with is WHAT should be MY role in all this? What can I do? What can I expect? I just read that she will be 'leaking' (pads?) I can and will change that. What I would like to know from all of you is what will be the the best way I can help her through the initial three weeks and beyond? Thanks Please respond to me at my email, as I do not regularly visit these forums. You can email me at beardeditalian48@yahoo.com. Thank you all for your help and words of advice." So there you have it -- Thank you from both of us.

time after meals when you can drink
Malaika replied to Oregondaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my paperwork that I got from Dr. A., "Never drink liquids when eating solid foods. Liquids should be avoided for a period of 45 minutes before and 45 minutes after eating solid foods or meals." -
Oh they didn't have those when I bought mine. So far my favorite is the Marshmallow Mudslide Pie (or something like that) ... so good to the point they could be addictive!
