    Diet off track

I'm not a big egg person at all; however, I can tolerate a scrambled egg with 2% shredded cheese on it - it's very tasty. What I did for the pre-op diet and am doing now and will continue to do is prepare my Breakfast and take it to work and heat it up there, eat at my desk. I will also pack my lunch and eat in the lunchroom like others and then I will have dinner when I get home. I am going to try (stressing try) to make up a weekly menu so I don't have to try and figure out what am I going to eat today. I totally understand what you're saying about the Protein drink aftertaste; I've yet to find one I like on it's own. I do like the EAS French vanilla when used in a smoothie with fruit.
  4. Shanda, I was in the same boat as you - never been under anesthesia, never had surgery (well, had carpal tunnel surgery, but was awake for that) including dental procedures. On the other hand, I am like WASa - I'm a very black/white person ... drives my fiance crazy ... and once I made the decision, it was made and after that I placed my life in the hands of Dr. Aceves and Jesus. There is a very cool picture right before you go into Dr. Aceves wing of a surgeon and Jesus and Jesus has one hand on the surgeon's shoulder and one on the surgeon's hand ... I think that says it all. At least it did for me.

    Surgery Date July 10!!!!!!

Well my biological sister is 5'3 and wears maybe a size 10 ... of course when we were in HS she wore a size 1. So she definitely wouldn't get it. Ruthi and Eyfura know what I went through -shared it with me and we do "talk" daily. Everyone else on this site gets it too ... or will get it once they have their surgery. It's a GREAT extended family!

Oh, I know it's a lot easier said than done -- I've had to work at doing it over the years. And I was not trying to say your feelings weren't valid -- they most certainly are.

This is how I tend to look at things. Why waste your energy even giving them the time of day ... they don't even know you're upset with them and here you are wasting good energy on people who don't deserve it. That's why I always LET IT GO ...

    I'm going to MX!

Congratulations! Welcome to our club. Never hesitate to ask a question, someone will always respond.

Well Susan is your sleeve sister ... Eyfura had her's on 6/10 and Ruthi and I were on 6/12. So all-in-all it's "about" the same time - you were in the hospital togther.

    Tape and incisions

Great, thank you Elisabeth. I asked Bob this morning if he thought I'd ever get all the adhesive off my skin and not look like I had some red blotchy disease. Not too many more days then.

YOU DON'T ... he was YOUR dad, not her's - LET IT GO!

No, not yet - not on full liquids until Monday -- I'll let you know though! There's all kinds of things at Whole Foods I've never heard of before - it was interesting!

    Diet off track

Has anyone ever tried Hemp Milk? I bought some the other day at whole foods and the gal at the check out counter asked me if I had had it before and I said "No" and she said "You'll love it, it is sooo good with a little nutty flavor." I got it because I've tried milk, soy and rice milk and my system doesn't seem to tolerate any of it, so I figured what the heck. Interested to hear if any of you've tried it.

    Surgery Date July 10!!!!!!

That will be so great for you guys ... that is how Eyfura, Ruthi and I all became sleeve sisters ... Eyfura had her surgery on 6/10 and Ruthi and I were on 6/12 .. the hospital wing is very small and so easy to visit with one another -- plus you can go walking together! DEFINITELY find one another and afterwards keep in touch ... Dr. Aceves believes there's a special bond when you go through the process together at the same time. You'll love the entire experience (considering you're having major surgery).

Tiffy - I agree with Elisabeth, Steve and WASa 100%! I'm in a step-family situation, so somewhat understand the evil step-sister situation ... but that relationship has always been between my biological sister (5 years older) and my step-sister (same age as me). They still to this day can't stand one another. I would DEFINITELY let your mom know exactly how you feel. As for the evil SS's don't waste your energy worrying about them -- put all that energy into recovery and moving on ... LET IT GO!
  18. Malaika

    How long?

I don't know if there is enough recovery time in the world to prepare you for taking on 28 five year olds:biggrin2:

    Effects of anesthesia

Well that is certainly one HECK of a dream ... and not good news about the effects however. I found before surgery, though, if I ate ANYTHING sweet as the last thing I ate before going to bed - I try not to eat anything 3 hours before bed time - I would have really weird dreams -- probably about like the one you just described.
  21. Malaika

    How long?

My insurance wouldn't pay for WLS so I was self-pay. Once I decieded upon Dr. Aceves, I had all the paperwork in hand, completed and date scheduled within one week. Seems to me your doctor's office has some communication issues.

    Short Term Goals

Yes, extremely. I didn't ask Sergio the question about the sex because I thought he'd crawl under the bed from embarassment ... didn't know it would embarass Dr. A as well.
  23. I've never said mine was dead just way f**ked up from all the yo-yo dieting and I also know that the only way I could lose weight before WLS was to exercise at least 6 days a week .. which right after my divorce I did and it definitely made a difference, then over time and getting involved in another relationship, work, etc., I got away from the exercising and the weight slipped back on and the fat took up permanent residence again. I'm down 13.6 one week out and have already set up with a trainer to start working out 4 weeks from now - until then, am starting a walking routine. I am going to take full advantage of this WLS and the initial weight loss and keep the ball rolling in a forward motion.

I LOVE that answer ... I love my coffee too ... I should have asked him about drinking coffee ... instead, I asked him about having sex and he blushed and waved his hands and said "Not here, PLEASE" ... LOL :tea: He'd probably have preferred I asked about the coffee!
