  1. Whenever I enter the chat room, all I have is a white box ... if I hit chat again, then I get the "loading" message and then the chat menu opens up ... is this the way it's s'pose to work or am I doing something wrong?

Chat Room - Is this normal

Okay this is too wierd -- if I open Chat in the same window, it won't load until the 2nd time ...however, when I opened it in a separate window - 5 out of 5 times it loaded first shot. So I have no problem with opening it in a new window - that way I can still check posts while chatting

    I'm going to MX!

Dana, don't know if it's an option for you or not, but you could put a portion of it on a charge card if you need to - they will charge you a 3% fee and if you decide to do that, be SURE you notify your credit card company that you will be using your card in Mexicali. Just a thought for a possible option to get you to where you need to be to be able to have surgery. Hope it all works out for you.

You will find that EVERYONE on Dr. Aceves' staff is friendly, nice, courteous, respectful and informative.

    Limarp

He's running a special for July - $8950 I believe - and that includes EVERYTHING - Preop tests, 1 night a resort, 3 nights in hospital, surgery, medication, EVERYTHING ... not sure what prices you have received; however, I would never let price be the process by which I chose my surgeon with any surgeon, most definitely not this one. He has performed over 600 sleeves and never had any leaks. Good luck on your decision; however, I would definitely put Dr. Aceves at the very top of your list .. Southwest generally has pretty good fares into San Diego.

    I've been sleeved

It went pretty good - however, the only Soups Applebees has is Chili, French Onion and Tomato Basil. Chili, obviously as definitely out, I HATE onions - although I did ask for a tiny bit to see if my tastes might have changed -- NOPE ... and so I opted for a bowl of the tomato basil -- YES, I know, not a clear food, but the best I could come up with. It wasn't totally Soup either - there were really tiny chunks in it ... so I did the best I could to just get the soup part -- I ate about 5-6 bites and brought the rest home. However, I noticed as the time went on, I had terrible acid reflux. So when we got home I took another nexium and that got rid of it ... and then I got to thinking -- DUH, you're tummy doesn't like basil ... and that was what was in the soup - so go figure! I also had an iced tea -- which I nursed all night long and still didn't finish.

    binge eating

Well for one thing your stomach is about as big around as your ring finger and it's pretty hard to eat very much with a stomach that size. Pluse as so many others have said, the sleeve is not the magic cure for weight loss -- it is nothing more than an aid in helping you lose weight and if you use it properly and change all the bad habits you've developed over the years and focus on eating 60-70 grams of Protein, less than 30 grams of carbs and stick to 600-800 calories a day, then you're going to lose. Of course, as the experienced sleevers have attested, you can eat around your sleeve and gain weight (meaning ice cream, high fat foods, carbs, etc. ... things that go down easy that they refer to as slider foods.) That's my take on the matter; I am sure others will have much more to say on the matter.

    Diet off track

White cheese is generally lower in fat than the yellow cheese and it does taste good -- we buy the big bags at Sam's Club -- it's a great good snack and easy to grab instead of something bad.

    Effects of anesthesia

This is isn't in my chest at all. From what I understand, it's excess mucus in the upper stomach (am sure WASa or Elisabeth could explain it better) and, well, I guess it has to go somewhere -- just can't figure out why it is only when I lay down or semi-prone. I guess I should be happy that it's not all the time. I've been bothered by allergies since 3 years after moving to Vegas and have been through all kinds of tests and medications - none of which help -- finally I just started taking Tylenol Severe Sinus & Allergy when they are really bad and that seems to work better than anything. However, I refuse to liquify another medication or even crush or cut into tiny pieces. I feel as though it takes me 1/2 a day to get my medication down and I'm only taking 3 things - Nexium, BC and my BP medication. If, for now, the bendaryl liquid works, then I'll stick with it until I am able to take medication again WHOLE...or at least 1/2. Yesterday, when I took my BP medication - and I had broken it into 4 parts, one part go stuck (basically at the spot right between the 'girls') and it was there all day until about 4 pm ... and then I finally had no pain there any longer. Maybe I just have more swelling because of the hernia repair and so I am having more problems with that specific issue than others? I don't know ... or maybe I am just down right weird :001_tongue:

    I've been sleeved

OMG - I stepped on the scale this morning and since surgery I've been losing about 1 lb. a day ... this morning I was down 6.6. I reweighed myself 3 times and everytime it was the same. Wow, a good night sleep, no coughing fits and DOWN 6.6 lbs. you can bet I was doing the HAPPY DANCE!!! That's a total of 20.2 lbs. since surgery on 6/12. Water weight or actual weight -- I don't care -- its 20.2 lbs in 9 days ... unfriggin believable!:lol0::lol0: :001_tongue:

Chat Room - Is this normal

Oh - well duh:huh0: So I went back to check that out -- however, you must have figured out the issue with IE8 as I opened the CHAT room 5 times and all 5 times it loaded up .. so maybe this is now a moot point.

  17. You will do it Elisabeth - I have no doubt - you've already done GREAT and you're in the right frame-of-mind with a fantastic goal to shoot for.
  18. Well, now, we never said THAT ... Just teasing you -- if you're going crazy with your thoughts, so did the rest of us. :lol0::lol0::lol0:
  19. I had a "virgin" stomach so to speak and my entire surgery took 1 hour 7 minutes according to Dr. Aceves, and that included repairing a sliding hiatal hernia!

    Effects of anesthesia

I posted a new thread about my new best "aid" and that was liquid benadryl - I slept 8 hours and only one coughing fit. And yes, I actually cough up mucus. It doesn't make it hard to swallow, just that the coughing makes my throat very sore. I guess this is more a common problem with the band, than the sleeve; however, I've often had a sinus drainage problem at night and keep cough drops on the nightstand in the event I start coughing, pop one in my mouth and go back to sleep. No, I never choke on them. However, I was a bit afraid to do that since the surgery just in case I did swallow it in my sleep. So instead, I would just cough and cough and cough until I cleared out the mucus and then I'd go back to sleep until it started again. Made a very long night with very little sleep let me tell you. So I think the purpose of the benadryl was to help dry up things with the secondary benefit being to knock me out! I used to live in an apt. complex where my neighbor was addicted to NyQuil - she took it every night to sleep. And that was BEFORE the cherry flavor -- eewwwwwwwww

    Effects of anesthesia

I was actually going to go back to work on Thursday and would have felt up to doing so if not for the diarhhea. So I took my office manager up on her offer of another day off and went back on Friday. I worked all day and then had enough energy to stop at Borders and then Wal-Mart (I HATE shopping at Wal-Mart; however, I needed ink cartridges and they're the cheapest in town I've found) so I walked around Wal-mart and came home. I was somewhat tired, but not terribly so and no in any pain at all. Ruthi went back to work on Tuesday - the day after we were released from the hospital. I don't think I could have done that; but definitely by Friday ... I don't think an entire week is necesssary, but then everyone's body is different.
