    I'm failing

I actually pureed a hard boiled egg yolk with some cottage cheese, added a bit of pepper and it actually tasted really good. It wasn't that much, but figured it was more protein that I had been getting -- I was only able to eat about 3 teaspoonfuls. Might want to try that.
  2. :thumbup:Congratulations. I love your positive attitude and outlook ... you'll do great! Keep us posted when you get your date and with any other questions you have.:confused1:

    Simple things

I have some in the freezer; however, have been afraid to try them as I'm afraid they're going to be too sweet like everything else has been ... have you had that too sweet problem and, if so, how did the pudding cups measure up?

    Hotel in San Diego?

I love Old Towne there is SO much to do and see.

    Balloon being inserted to sleeve

That's great ... and it's not -- great that you're going to be able to get it done; not so great that you have to go through it.. I hope it helps and that that will be the end of your problems. Keep us posted 0kay????
  6. I'd say play it by ear and go back when you feel like it. I'd have gone crazy by 4 weeks.

How about veggies with cheese sauce? Kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak? Or another type of sauce you could make that has a lot of Protein -- don't know what that would be, but sure there must be something~!

    I'm failing

I know Dr. Aceves really pushes the 3 meals a day; however, right now, this early out of surgery, I am trying to get in what I can and if that turns out to be more than 3 "meals" in a day, then I'm really not too worried about it. Once I get on solids, then I will taper back to 3x a day ... or if I decide to graze, like WASa, I have no problem grazing on steamed or fresh veggies ... I realized this morning that the one thing I really miss and am looking forward to is actually CHEWING something ... I never feel really "full" when I just drink a meal.

    Bougie prosthetic?

What - she gets to keep it as a souvenir? If that's the case, I'd pass and save the $2K...

Well, duh, why does the obvious always escape me? LOL

    Still struggling

No, have been in contact with Gaby since I got home ... she's aware. Since I am so paranoid about it, Dr. Aceves is going to do a GI for me on July 10th when I'm there for Bob's surgery. At this rate, I'm never going to get off of fulls to even mushies and I know I'm not getting in enough Protein, so on top of it all, I have no energy and sleep more than I ever can remember. The worst side effect after the gagging is throat is so darn sore. Everything else I was having issues with - the excessive mucus, coughing, not sleeping ... has passed, so I would hope that this too, will, with time (the sooner the better in my opinion)
  12. I think that was the most difficult part for Bob was the fact that he wasn't allowed in the recovery room. Although he was most impressed that Dr. Aceves came to the room personally and gave him an up date ... she should be back in your room in about 2 hours. She'll be druggy for the rest of the day I'm sure. Everytime I stopped moving, I fell asleep ... I was that way alot on the 2nd day as well, so don't be surprised.

    Hotel in San Diego?

Not sure when your surgery date is - however if you go to www.expedia.com you can do a search for hotels in the San Diego airport area - just plug in your date needed and it will bring up a list of hotels with rates and services available.

    I'm failing

yes -- i called it isopuke like so many others - it's disgusting. I poured 2 bottles down the drain and used one for jell-o shooters - which were very tolerable -- maybe you should try that?

    I'm failing

Hi RB -- Have you tried contacting Gaby? I know I am having a very hard time getting in my Proteins - bet I don't get anywhere close to even 20 in a day; however, I'm still on fulls ... move to mushies next week and am hoping that that helps. I tried my smoothies last week -- both Atkins and one I make myself - and they were too thick for me and it takes me hours to get them down ... so I nixed that idea. Tiffykins really likes the nectar supplements -- maybe try those? You can get in your protein and your liquids at the same time? I ordered a bunch of samples today from Vitalady.com for Bob and I ... might be worth the try? Hang in there -- we'll get through this ... I would definitely email Gaby or Renee or Nina for suggestions too! HUGS!

    Rate your liquids

That's good to know about the ratio. I find those lipton tea mixes, crystal light, etc too sweet for one bottle of water, so I usually mix 1 to 1-1/2 to at least 24 oz of water. I got the sweets mostly for Bob as he seems to have quite a sweet tooth. Me, not so at all since the surgery. Thought the unflavored would be good for Soups and such ... provided it truly is unflavored and doesn't smell like s**t. Maybe the cappucino will be good without coffee? I'm drinking a little coffee these days -- but only about 1/4 of a cup. Like everything else, it just doesn't taste the same to me.

    Rate your liquids

I orderd 2 of each -- Caribbean Cooler, Twisted Cherry, Cappucino, Fuzzy Navel, Roadside Lemonade, strawberry Kiwi, Unflavored, chocolate truffle, strawberry mousse and vanilla bean torte (the last 3 from the nectar Sweets collection).

YUMMY ... where does the fuzzy navel fall on your star scale my dear?

    Rate your liquids

I bit the bullet today and ordered several samples from Vitalady.com (thanks Mac for telling Tiffy about this site). I figured with Bob's upcoming surgery, he's going to need Protein to keep his mind less fuzzy so he can work and we might as well know ahead of time whether he'll like them or not. Plus, I figure it can't hurt me to have at least one form of liquid Protein I can tolerate. Not sure how long it will take to get them. However, like Tiff will post how they taste.

    Pre-Op diet

Congrats on your date! It is my understanding that the pre-op diet is more to shrink your liver before surgery than for you to lose any weight. Often times the two go hand-in-hand. It's generally a high Protein, low carb (under 30 g) diet -- like Atkins -- that they put you on. I found it quite easy to follow and although I didn't lose all that much weight, apparently my liver was in wonderful condition! Hope that helps!

    LInk at bottom of page

Even if you did stick up for WASa it shouldn't matter to them one way or the other -- that is what friends do ... I think they are just jealous or envious and tend to take their unhappiness out on others. I don't even know the entire story and it doesn't matter -- people like that don't deserve your time or energy. IMHO

    Love this site ... BUT

It's CHOCOLATE ... who cares what they are!?!:001_tt2:

    Dano Here 1st time

Hey Dano - We were in the van with you the day you had your TT -- Ruthi rode in with you from SD and Bob and I were picked up by Ernesto in Calexico. Remember? You and I were in Recovery together?? So glad to hear things are going well for you ... you'll love this site - we're all wonderful (and modest too!!) ... can't wait to see the "new" you. Congrats!!!
  24. That is why Ruthi and I had our surgery on the same day so Bob could be there for both of us ... although Ruthi was such a wonder woman after surgery, it was hard to keep up with her! It's always nice to have someone there just in case -- you're wife is lucky you wanted to be there and the other gal will benefit from your presence as well.

Something I read on that other board

Well that is scary. I try to put mine in the same place every single time -- because I would put them down wherever and never be able to find them. I know that doesn't help you out now since they are lost; however, it might be a good idea for the future -- I used to have a magnetic hook on the back of my front door so that they were right there when I needed them ... put them there when I closed the door -- it's handy. Now I put them on the end table right inside the door. Hope you find all your lost items ... sure you don't have a raccoon "stealing" things from you?
