    Hey Ya'll!

Welcome Penny. Yes, lots of us have used Dr. Aceves -- IMO he is absolutely the best of the best. I paid $9500; however for July I believe he has reduced his price to $8750. This includes the following: All pre-op tests 1 night at a gorgeous resort Surgery Anesthesia 3 nights in the hospital All post-op tests Copies of your chest xray and your upper GI Copy of your operative report Copy of your blood work Basically you pay Dr. Aceves and he pays the hospital and the anesthesiolgist and anyone else who needs paid. It is the cleanest hospital you will ever be in and everyone is absolutely wonderful -- you see Dr. Aceves at least 3x a day during the time you are in the hospital; plus other members of his staff. Any more questions, just ask - don't even worry if they've already been asked before -- someone will answer you again.

    My future babies

OMG I think if I found out I was pregnant at my age (51) I'd have to slash my wrists ... my boys are 30 and 26 and I have a 4 year old grandson ... those are the only babies I want in my house - grandbabies and someone else's babies.

    Rate your liquids

I bought the powder packs of Special K today at Wal-mart. There were 10 packets in a box for the same price as 4 bottles of the premixed. I bought the Iced Tea flavor and the strawberry Kiwi. The iced tea flavor isn't too bad - a bit of a lemony taste, but other than that you can't really taste the Protein in the Water. I mixed an entire packet with a 20 oz. bottle of water -- it probably would have been okay mixed with 24 oz. or slightly more too. I'll let you know how the strawberry kiwi tastes -- I really liked the premixed strawberry kiwi and so does Bob.

    Pre-op diet

I would think you could have them on the mushie stage -- and it sounds really good -- I may have to try that.
  5. Ohhhhhh ... how cute ... I want one ... I love Labs .... how are you ever going to part with them? I'd want to keep them all. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Oh I have no idea - I was just curious of the brand - I haven't been able to find a Protein powder that I can tolerate yet so was curious as to what brand it was. That is the one that Eggface wholeheartedly recommends, so it's probably pretty good. I just need to find a GNC in Las Vegas that will give samples - the one nearest my house doesn't do so. :thumbup1:
  7. What is the name of it? Have fun in PV ... your flight will be fine!
  8. You do not have to apologize - as you said, it was simply your experience and opinion and it is your right to voice how you feel. Don't feel bad and certainly don't apologize. It is good to know about other border towns in Mexico. I am thankful I was in Mexicali.
  9. My experience in Mexicali was absolutely wonderful as well ... so good, we're headed back there the end of this week. I am sorry things are so bad for you in Monterrey.

    I have a date!

The only thing you might want to mention to Dr. Aceves is to see if he can make the top incision below the bra line - especially if you wear an underwire. That was a hint passed along to me by Rosebud2 ... he said that is the incision for the liver retractor and if he was able to make it lower, he would. And, luckily, he was able to do so ... so you might want to mention that to him. Also, pack a box of tissues with you and a heating pad. They don't provide tissues at the hospital and the heating pad helps with the pain from the CO2.:thumbup1: I'm so happy for you ...think you could drop off some tomatoes on your way over Las Vegas? :cursing:
  11. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO How exciting for you ... your time is almost here - that's GREAT. You'll do fine on the plane -- just take a benadryl or something and you'll probably sleep most of the time. If not, take something to read or some music to listen too. Enjoy your time in San Diego and trust and believe in Dr. Aceves and his team -- you've got the best of the best in my opinion. If you can let us know how things are going - GREAT - if not, then we'll wait to hear from you as soon as you can. I KNOW that things will go great for you and you'll be on your way to a new life before you know it!

    Head hunger

Very good! I am not ever tempted by the popcorn as it doesn't settle well with me and I gave up soft drinks 25 years ago ... baked beans and sliced tomatoe sounds wonderful. As for TG ... I have a cruise the first week of September to get through before facing Thanksgiving ... luckily since my DF is having the surgery, too, we won't be spending all our time on the Lido Deck or in the dining room...although I do hope to taste some local carribbean food during our onshore excursions. Wonder if they allow doggy bags back on the ship?

    Vitamin D

Yea WASa ... any ideas? I'm a sucker for the same things ... although I did refrain from chips yesterday at the BBQ with the homemade salsa and chile con queso ... and trust me that wasn't easy -- the only thing that stopped me was the fact I am only now on mushies ... but trust me ... I did think about it.

I did it, i did it, i did it

The shots are still working pretty good for me - last ones I had were in November and I'm not in pain so that is good for me. Once the shots quit working, or don't work for very long, I will seriously begin the process of replacements ...although I REALLY hate the thought of surgery... and having surgery in Las Vegas.
  15. WOW 11 puppies ... dang ... guessing they are labradors? Love those dogs, my brother and SIL used to breed them. I can imagine you are worn out. Hang in there and soon you will take back control of your life and have more energy than you know what to do with!

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

You should be proud you haven't given in to your cravings for carbs and tackled anyone for a burrito ... I know it's hard as I like carbs, too, especially hot sourdough with real butter ... so the fact you haven't given in is GREAT. By the time you get through the pre-op and the liquids, your craving for carbs should be gone and if you don't start back on them you should be okay. Good luck with your surgery. I will be there on the 10th for my fiance's pre-tests and a GI for me so I am going to look for you ...is your name really Rosey? If not I'll just stand on that wing and holer for Roseyandmusic and wait for you to come to me ... or your dad ... I'll be interested to see how he feels about things ... :thumbup1:

    Head hunger

Glad you did so good Daisy!!! I think I'll do much better the next time. I think most of my problem was the fact that I had just gotten off liquids to mushies and I wanted to try everything. Next time, I'll stick to just those things I really want and not think I want everything

    not losing anymore!

Then you'd better stay out of your boss' office and away from those truffles you keep talking about. :thumbup1:
  19. I hope things work out for you sooner than later. As for putting up with you a while longer ... well now, I don't know about that ... :001_tt2: ... I hope we have to "put up" with you for a LOT longer and that it's to hear all about your WLS experience. Hang in there, it'll all work out the way it's supposed to when it's supposed too. Everything happens for a reason.
  20. Must be the name BOB -- my bob doesn't have to worry about losing any hair either!
  21. Malaika

    yay me (and vsg!)

You'll do fine once you're back in your own surroundings -- you've gotten through the worst of it. Congratulations and bon voyage!
  22. All I can say is thank God I found this forum BEFORE I went through with the lapband.

    Complications after Sleeve Surgery

None really. A little bit of excess mucus the first week, cleared up with liquid benadryl. Other than that, just a bit of trouble swallowing due to swelling. Hot things in the morning seemed to help and each day it gets easier and easier.
