    colonoscopy

My OB/GYN keeps asking me about it and I told him I'd have one this year sometime ... so I'm sure he'll be questionning me about it again ... I'm glad to know there are alternatives.

    yay me (and vsg!)

You got that right -- if you can't find something to suit your cravings here in Las Vegas, you might as well just give up eating!
  3. DEFINITELY the tiny pieces vs. crushing into a powder -- that is absolutely disgusting and you can't cover it up in anything ... believe me, I tried!
  4. I had to have my doctor call in an RX for the generic effexor - venaflaxin - that can be cut (or crushed). The only thing I don't like about it is because it is not XR you have to remember to take one pill in the morning and one in the evening -- like if you are on 150 mg., then you take a 75 mg in the am and one in the pm. I purchased a pill cutter/crusher and I cut my pill into little pieces and take it with yogurt. The only pill I can take without cutting it into small pieces is my BC pill and it is very very tiny. Everything else I have to cut and take with applesauce or yogurt to help it slide down and not taste so dang nasty.

    Rate your liquids

Congrats Tiff -- I bet that feels good ... 10 more days and mushies???
  6. That's great Mac ... wow, I can't even imagine weighing 110 ... I think that's about what my left leg weighs! I am sure you will find the happy medium you need to maintain once you lose the cushion weight. I think you're amazing.

    I hope someone reads this

Awesome WASa... DF said to me last night that I needed to help this person and I said I don't have the experience ... I a newbie ... I said WASa will post something to help her ... and you didn't disappoint. Thing is, it helped me to read all that - even though I know it - it helps to see it in black and white -- I, too, am going to post it and put it on my fridge where it will provide me with motivation when needed. It's great - I hope it helps CMT too.

    Depressed! Gaining Weight!

I have those same feelings and also am not able to eat that much at this time (3 weeks out). Have you had an Upper GI to see if there is a problem and why you are feeling this way? I am having one on 7/10. I think it is because I had a sliding hiatal hernia repaired and I still have a lot of swelling ... I'm hoping it's not anything more than that. As for not losing, are you logging what you are eating and keeping track of your calories/carbs/protein? Also, are you getting in enough fluids? I think you have to get in enough Protein and fluids, and limit your carbs and calories and exercise to keep the weight coming off.

    not losing anymore!

No. I'm waiting on my samples from Vitalady of the nectar ... will see how that goes.
  10. I'm NOT sorry and I am going with he is absolutely AWESOME and NOT a liar! Some surgeons are totally honest and GREAT at the same time. I also feel as though you have a guilty conscience and are trying to push YOURSELF onto those in this forum. Research and studies have shown that the best form of advertising is referral and word of mouth -- everyone on here has had a positive experience with Dr. Aceves and for you to call him a liar is just downright low ... so i guess given your other option, we would have to call him a God. However, I don't believe he is a God, I believe he is an absolutely outstanding superb Surgeon. I have worked med mal for over 7 years and seen the worst of the worst and deal with doctors on a daily bases ... I find most to be extremely arrogant and think themselves God ... Dr. Aceves is not like any other surgeon I have ever met. He is a very humble person ... who is above-average at the surgeries he performs. So if you are here to push yourself on others and speak negatively of another's choice of surgeon ... IMO -- JUST GO AWAY!

    Egg Drop Soup

Sounds like fun - if you want to meet up, PM me with the details when it gets closer to the time -- we should be in town in October.

    marley and me

Take the DVD back and tell them it is scratched and you weren't able to watch the entire thing and have them give you another one so you can see the ending. I can't help, as I haven't seen it yet. I have the book, but haven't read it yet either ...

    Hey Ya'll!

You're being silly (your words, not mine) -- they will be able to do your sleeve. Don't even think negative, let alone put it out into the universe -- negative out, negative back ... think and speak only POSITIVE ... when I have my sleeve, when I lose my weight ... POSITIVE only allowed!!!!

Alrighty then, just let us know when you're in town. I enjoy Fremont Street too. If we decide to go out of our area, Fremont Street is generally where we end up -- more to see/do than on the strip, IMO. I love to play BINGO

    July Sleever's

It's so nice when you can have surgery at the same time as someone else on this forum ... Ruthi, Eyfura and I all had surgery at the same time - Eyfura was one day before us ... and we've stayed close. Dr. Aceves said there is a special bond between the 3 of us because we all went through the same thing at the same time. We are officially sleeve sisters! :biggrin0: Eyfura's sister is having surgery 1 day before beardeditalian and I think Roseyandmusic is down there the same time, so all of them will share a special bond too. Kinda sappy, I know!
  16. I have a feeling that is exactly what is going to happen -- although DF is having the sleeve surgery on the 11th and he isn't nearly as picky as me, so he might be able to drink them - will keep them until we see if he can tolerate them. It will be a good way for him to get in his protein while on fulls.
  17. I was told not to start taking any Vitamins, liquid or otherwise, until I am on solid food by Dr. Aceves. Right now I am doing good to get the nexium, my BP, Effexor and BC down. I have liquid Centrum to take; however, have been waiting until my return to solid foods. Other's thoughts on this?
  18. No, laughing won't hurt -- they aren't cutting through the muscles in your skin, they are removing part of your stomach. I remember thinking that I should feel something was missing, but I couldn't tell any difference at all. As for the heating pad, I put it on my left shoulder to help with the pain from the gas the first day, then moved it around to the front the next day as the gas had moved to the front under my left boob. I agree with Elisabeth - it was the first time in my life that anyone had been excited to know that I was poofing and belching. :biggrin0:
  19. And this tool you only have to pay for one time and it's permanent. No mean trainer breathing down your neck and reducing the balance of your bank account. Take the pills they gave you at your pre-op testing today and get a good nights sleep -- everything will look better in the morning light.

    I hope someone reads this

I'm not experienced with the sleeve; however, I know from what I have read from those that are that the most important thing is to write down everything you eat and to track the number of calories and carbs. Are you still doing that? I am sure one of the more experienced sleevers on here will have a wealthy of knowledge and suggestions for you as they are no longer newbies -- I am only 3 weeks out. Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
  21. Well from what I can remember when I woke up in the recovery room, I remember having a sharp pain in my left shoulder blade, a sore throat and a very dry mouth. Other than that, I don't remember anything else - good, bad or indifferent. Later that day I had a bit of itching off and on and was told it was from the morphine in the spinal. Oh yeah, you'll be pink front and back from about below your boobs to above your pubic area - That's about all I can remember -- if I think of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

    Head hunger

Thank you -- I really needed to hear that and it gives me hope that I won't feel this way forever.
  23. yes, it's a great way to go and was very wise of him and it's easier to let someone else do the driving in Mexicali ...although this time, we're driving to the hospital and resort ourselves.
  24. I figure about the time I find a protein drink I can tolerate I'll be back on solid food.
  25. Malaika

    not losing anymore!

Oh Daisy, just the thought of that makes me gag! I wish I didn't find them too sweet and hope that with time that goes away - sure hope Protein Drinks stay a long time in the fridge, because at this rate, I'm never going to be able to drink them.
