    Full liquids - whats allowed?

I posted a recipe for it made with tofu --- extra protein - it was really good and flavorful. And yes, it's allowed on full liquids -- slurp away!

    How many jars of pickles....

You don't need many clothes - just something to wear home and some pjs for the hospital if you choose. That leaves lots of room for pickles! What airlines are flying? You can generally to their website and it will give max dimensions for carryon .. what about your hubby? You can stash some pickes in his carryon too - don't forget!!!

    Oh my belly help!

Is that where the appendix is located? Lower left side?
  4. My surgeon recommends 600-800 calories and under 30 carbs.
  5. Trust me, after 10 days on clear liquids, and 10 days on full liquids, you won't want to be staying on them any longer than you have to.
  6. Hi all - Well here I am finally -- I've tried to get online since about 4; however, I wasn't able to stay awake long enough to read or type anything. Pre-testing was yesterday and all went well. Ernesto picked us up at 7 am this morning and we came to the hospital. We waited about 30 minutes as they were cleaning our rooms. Then they came and got Ruthi and tooker her to her room and I waited some more. Then the internest wanted to question me with regard to some of my allergies. Also informed me that my blood work showed a slight UTI. None of this prohibited my surgery, Thank God. So to my room I went. Disrobed and got in the lovely hospital gowns provided by the hospital and waited. Dr. Aceves and one of his assistans (not Dr. Campos, he isnt here right now) came to see if I had any questions and give a brief synopsis of what he had talked about yesterday. Various nurses were in and out - blood pressure, temperature, Lucy to give me my happy pills ... and then we were off to the operating room .. I remember being wheeled into the OR and I remember absolutely NOTHING after that until they were waking me up in recovery. I was taken from recovery to my room. And have pretty much been sleeping of and all all day. My surgery went great - Dr. Aceves said it was a very easy surgery and he also repaired a small hiatal hernia. He said the entire surgery took 1:07 minutes and I passed the first leak test. He has been in 3 times to check on me and Lucy was here a few times too. I've had one pain shot and that was just a bit ago when the pain moved from my left shoulder blade to right under my left breast. Thank God for my heating pad. I have taken a few walks - twice to the bathroom and twice around the floor .. down to to talk with Ruthi and Becki. Becki leaves tomorrow. Ruth and I are here until Monday. There is a gal next door to Ruth who had the lapband and she came from Arkansas. She didn't even know what the sleeve was, so we tried to explain it to; however, I don't she "got" it. She goes home tomorrow too. I will be glad for tomorrow when I can have some sips of Water, my throat is so dry from the breathing tube ... other than that I feel good (with the exception of the gas moving around - I think that means I'll probably start passing it soon ... walking definitely does help) Well, I am going to go and try and read some posts -- I think I have about 4 pages worth. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

    I've been sleeved

I can swallow very small pills - if they're too big, I have to cut them in half or quarters.

    Post Op Weight Loss

I think I'd better start keeping a list so we don't forget to get everything accomplished while you're here!
  9. Daisy - happiness does come from within and it is a daily choice - you can wake up and choose to be happy or you can wake up and choose to be unhappy. Yes, you have reasons to be unhappy - the passing of your father and having to deal with the fallout from that ... however, you have so many reasons to be happy -- Your dad lived to be 90 - Celebrate his life, not his death -you had him for a lot of years. You have two healthy children and you have GREAT grandbabies that you get to see almost daily. You have your health. You have a job. You have a house. You have a dog. You have a car. You have food to eat whenever you want it. You have friends. Don't all those things make you happy? Every morning when you wake up -- look yourself in the mirror and say "I choose to be happy today and this is why ...." and then SMILE SMILE SMILE ... after awhile it will become a habit ... besides, if you are always smiling, it really makes people wonder what you're up too!
  10. OH hey - that is a GREAT idea ... will have to see if Bearded is on board as he is the one who does all the driving. That would be awesome ... are you planning on packing any sweet pickles?
  11. Better start saving those $$$. I'm so glad she's doing well and she is so lucky to have you as a mom and so supportive.

    Chat room

I think it depends on when you go in - probably not many there at 4:30 am... however, generally around 9 or so pacific time, you can find Tiffykins, Oregondaisy and myself - sometimes Ruthi and Soontobeskinny join us as well. We'd love to chat with you--hope to see you soon

I don't remember seeing that post; however, have you tried doing a search and see if you can find it that way? I'm sure someone will respond and lead you in the right direction otherwise.

Want to visit one while you're in LV?

    August Sleevers

I've said it before - and I'll say it again -- I believe this says it all ... it hangs in the hospital right as you enter the wing where Dr. Aceves' patients stay ... I know, too, that Dr. Acves believes that God is with him in the OR. Turn your fears over to a higher power.

    August Sleevers

I'd worry about you if you didn't have the last minute jitters.

    What's on your mind?

I'm so happy for you Judy - I know it seems like forever, but it will be here before you know it. I liked yogurt before my surgery, not so much so now -- so who knows, you may like it after your surgery and it won't taste like rotten gravy (me, I've never liked gravy either!)

    August Sleevers

I didn't have to take off my nails - but I did just have them with clear polish - I'm sure if it's an issue, they will let you know, but changes are it won't be.
  19. Welcome Henry and congratulations on your weight loss journey - I agree with Judy - you'll be at your goal in no time. We look forward to hearing about your journey and any suggestions you may have for us.

    Pre-op diet day 3

When I was on fulls, I so needed to crunch something, so I chewed little bites of celery and then spit them out ... got the crunch and the taste, but I didn't swallow ... so I think you're safe! :scared0:

    What's on your mind?

Glad to hear you had a better day eating wise at least!
  22. sorry my response was duplicative - the other posts didn't show up when I responded ... :scared0:
  23. You mail the check to a PO Box in the US. You pay the balance the day you have your pre-op tests in the form of a cashier's check. They do accept charge cards; however, they charge an additional fee for the use of them - I think like 3% -- get a cashier's check and you'll be safe. We've done it that way 2 times -- once for my surgery, once for Bearded's. As for the deposit, they will take a personal check.

    What's on your mind?

You can have an inner ear infection and not even know it - my mom had one so bad that made her dizzy and nauseaus to the point they almost had to put her in the hospital with sand bags on each side of her head to keep her head from moving ... it won't hurt to have it checked out! You might want to do that soon so that if it is an ear infection you can get on antibiotics before flying to Vegas.
