    My first NSV

That's great Tiff - had to be a wonderful feeling for sure ... and not getting sick is an added bonus! I was actually able to eat a very small piece of pizza and several bites of a salad last night -- I was thrilled nothing got stuck and it all stayed down.!
  2. I haven't seen any doctor bashing on this forum and I've read pretty much every thread - there was one very heated debate between a few members; however, that was quite some time ago. I know that many of us used Dr. Aceves and we think he is absolutely wonderful and don't hesitate to speak out about that; however, we aren't bashing other surgeons. I don't know anything about any other surgeons so I certainly wouldn't offer any opinions about another's choice.

    Eating out of controll

Welcome to the forum and the family. Glad to have your here. As for the eating out of control -- keep in mind that you will still be able to eat all of your favorite foods - however, you will only be able to eat them in smaller quantities (after the post-op diet of course) ... so it's not that you won't EVER be able to eat whatever you want -- maybe if you tell yourself that, you won't feel the need to gorge now and feel a "loss" of something. Hope that makes sense.

    Have a favor to ask

I'll be happy to email her with my experience with Dr. Aceves and the surgery. I will do it tomorrow from work.

    Tiredness

I didn't have any energy for several weeks after surgery -- once I got home from work and sat down, it was a fight to keep my eyes opened -- forget about doing anything that took any energy -- I used to stay up until 11 or midnight and get up at 5:30, up until just a few weeks ago, I was lucky to still be awake at 9:30 and couldn't drag my butt out of bed at 6:00. It's getting better now that I am taking vitamins and able to get in more protein. Hang in there, this too shall pass.
  6. Great Idea Mac - I'll have to check and see if I have that option -- I have the Leslie Sansone DVDs and they are a good workout -- I just can't stand to listen to her talk constantly, so I just mute the sound - also have the malibu pilates chair and pilates DVD that I need to start doing again now that I am working out at night, too. But change is good too so will check out on demand!

    What's on your mind?

OMG - I was dying laughing reading this ... here's an idea ... just don't wear any panties ... the you won't have to worry about them falling off!

    All was well until today

AJW - I had the peacock poop about 3 days after getting home from the hospital that lasted 2 days ... after that it subsided and would come and go -- never knew what would set it off -- I only kept telling myself - liquids in, liquids out ... and once you get on more solid food, it will be better -- but don't be surprised if you only go every 4-5 days -- I asked Dr. Campos about that when Beareded had his surgery and he said it was totally natural - that I wasn't putting enough in for my body to expel... I know that eating salad every now and again really makes a difference.
  9. Count me in too - in fact before the surgery I was taking Enablex for an overactive bladder ... I haven't taken it since surgery - haven't needed it. I know I'm getting in enough fluids because the color is good; however, I never get the "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go" feeling any longer - and I have to say it's VERY nice not to have that.

    New pics

What is this link you are posting because it's not coming through and you've posted it on at least 4 threads so far -- and they're the only posts you've posted - what is it and why do you feel it necessary to post it on all the threads? Curious.

Be careful with the eggs - they don't seem to go down as easily as I thought they would and others have posted the same thing - congrats on the weight loss- that is awesome!:lol0:

    Is this normal?

As Mac said in another post, leaks don't happen all that easily - in about 1% of sleeve patients - so quit worrying so much about causing a leak - as long as you are following YOUR doc's post-op diet, it's 99% guaranteed that you're going to do just fine. I know it is a freaky feeling to feel everything you put in your mouth. I only notice that I feel everything hitting "bottom" when I am drinking on an empty stomach.

    Starting to exercise

I've been working out after work - on my way home from work I stop at a friend's house who has a gym and we work out for about 30-45 minutes. I sip water during the workout and then go home and have dinner. That is what works best for me. I am sure others who have this much more under control than I do will have more information for you. The important thing is that you work out.
  14. Sounds as though you're doing great Nanna - keep up the good work!

    Is this normal?

Hi Krystal and welcome to the forum. What you are experiencing is very normal and will improve with time - it is a very strange feeling. Keep doing what you're doing. Warm liquids seem to help with the swelling/restriction - I am 2 months out and still everytime I drink something really cold it hurts. Congrats on your surgery.

    Surgery Week of August 24th?

man - what type of job do you have that allows you that much freedom?

    New pics

Congrats Bob -- that's great ... and it's so strange that your doc said no fresh fruit when watermelon was on my list as a full liquid -- obviously every doctor has their own method to their madness I guess. I haven't tried any beef yet - unless ground - but I'd really love a few bites of filet mignon.
  18. Sure you can lose the weight ... the problem I have (and probably you too) is that you can't keep it off ... the sleeve will help you be able to not only lose it, but also KEEP it off.

    over ate and feel fine

I have also found that eggs just don't seem to be an easy food to eat -- other than poached -- but then I need toast to soak up the yolk ... and well that's not an option ...

    Hi from Louisiana

Welcome Feffers - and what cute little girls -- how happy you must have been ... and what a great reason to have to postpone your surgery ... now you can continue on your journey and by the time the girls are up and running (in different directions) you'll be able to keep up with them and not be exhausted.
  21. Very succinctly put Ruthi -- Thanks!

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

I'm hoping to be done "cooking" before my 35th class reunion in 2011. (Yes, I'm OLD)
  23. Another idea, too, Jenn, is eating with a baby spoon - it forces you to take smaller bites -- I was just reminded of that as Bearded is eating a cup of applesauce. Just little things ... eventually we'll all get the "swing" of it!

Just don't feel like another protein drink

Although some thought it sounded gross and others really liked it -- I blended cottage cheese and an egg with just a smidgen of mayo when I was on full/mushies -- added a touch of pepper and it gave me a lot of protein and a different taste - I couldn't do (and still can't do) the protein drinks - they are way way too sweet for me still 2 months out. Egg drop soup with tofu is really good too - I posted that recipe as well.
  25. I was the same way -- I had much more energy once I was able to start eating better (dealing with the spasms) and even more when I started taking Vitamins - hang in there - it does get better!
