  1. JoAnn - sorry for the bad news - I HATE the way they write policy information - as it can be interpreted different ways by different people. What is your current BMI? I agree with you - I would NEVER get a procedure with which I wasn't comfortable even if the insurance would cover it. I wish you luck on your appeal. I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves and he is totally wonderful. I wouldn't sacrifice my health to save a few hundred (or even thousand) dollars. I don't know about the other doctors; however, I am sure others on here do or at the other site. If you decide to have it done in Mexico all I can recommend to you is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH and don't let the discounted price be your deciding factor.

    Lentil Soup

The list says pureed veggies until day 30; however, I think if you cut the pieces small enough you will be fine. Sounds yummy!

Stoongal - Sounds like another GREAT recipe - I will be going to the grocery this weekend, so will get ingredients to make both the Lentil Soup and this one too. Thanks!!!

    Tara's Journey

Hi Tara - Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your surgery and surgery date. I had some gas pain in my left shoulder; however, I put a heating pad on it and it helped it go away -- the other important thing and good way to get all the CO2 gas out is to walk, woak, walk, walk! I had a drainage tube for 2 days - it was no big deal - that was the incision that was the most tender - not painful, more like a sore muscle. when it was removed it didn't hurt, but it sure felt weird.

    100+ Pound Club

Hi Thin - Elizabethsew doesn't post here anymore, she has her own personal reasons, so you won't be getting a response to your post. However, there are lots of other sleeves who have more than 100 lbs. to lose that I am sure will be more than thrilled to communicate with you.

    I'm finally doing it!

Charity that is wonderful news. Put yourself in God's hands and know that this is His will for you in your life - it all came together so easy it has to be. You shoudl stop eating/drinking 12 hours before your surgery -- you can take any necessary medication in the morning with only enough Water to get them down. You'll do GREAT - keep us posted - we'll be watching to hear from you!
  10. Que - welcome to our forum and thank you for sharing your story- I am so sorry for all you have had to go through. I hope that everything will work out for you and I certainly wouldn't take your doctor's word that no one will give you a sleeve -- check around with other bariatric surgeons in your area, neighboring states, even Mexico.

    itchy skin when exercising

I have the same problem - but seems to be more when the exercise is walking or bike riding than just working out with weights -- I figured it had something to do with circulation and being out of shape - will be interesting to see if there is a medical reason for this.

    Whatcha' Eating?

Coffee with creamer - 1-1/2 cups 4 pita chips with 4 lg. shrimp - 1/2 a small smoked bacon & cheese quiche (we're talking maybe 5" in diameter for the entire quiche) - 470 calories; 25 carbs; 17g protein -- I should have stopped with my initial 1/4 because 1/2 was too much and now I feel absolutely horrible! 2 bottles water 1 bottle tea

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

I got mine at Target - weren't expensive at all - I think they were 500 mg. - I was taking 2 in the am and 2 in the pm before surgery.

    NSV shout outs

Steph you are too funny -- thanks for not polluting the air with your polyester clothes -- and thanks for participating in the recycling. I will check out Fashion Bug too. What I did get at LB was on sale so they weren't too bad - and the support I get is unbelievable - looks like I had a boob lift! Linda - CONGRATS on the inches lost - amazing! Also like the idea of putting the tape measure on the last measurement- great visual.
  15. I know, thanks Mac for not continuing to battle. Appreciate it!

    The EVIL 3 WEEK STALL

Hey Shanda - I think the weight gain is probably water retention and one you start I am sure it will go away and so will the pounds. Don't weigh everyday - that might help, too -- and the measurement thing is a GREAT idea. Keep your positive attitude - you will get through this and start losing lbs. again.

    4 days post op

I had no pain at all except for some shoulder pain in my shoulder from the CO2 gas and that went away with a heating pad. I never took any pain medicine at all. Everyone's pain level is different; however, everyone who had their surger when I had mine had no pain - the incision where the drain is is uncomfortable -more like a pulled or sore muscle, not actual pain.

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

Rosey - that is so great - not sure what to tell you about the pants -- wear skirts maybe until you can get into your smaller pants? Or a belt on the others with a long top over it maybe? As for the magnesium -- that was me that told Skinny about it - it works for me -- if two doesn't work, the doc said take 3, try that a few days and up it if it still didn't work -- you can't OD on magnesium - your body will burn off what you don't use. However, I like Skinny's idea of the magnesium and 1/2 a dose of Miralax every other day. As for me, if I eat a salad, that will move things through in about 1 hour! Keep us posted on your progress and you best be posting some pics soon girl - new hair-do - new body! WOO HOO. Happy 3 month Sleeveaversary to Skinny, Rosey & my honey Bearded. My 4 month is tomorrow (10/12)

    Re: New to VST

Hi Dancer and welcome to VST - hope you don't mind, but I moved your post to a different thread. I had my surgery on 6/12/09 and was back at work on 6/19/09 -- I have a desk job and other than feeling foggy from a lack of Protein, I was fine. I was very tired - could make it through the day, but I was ready for bed shortly after getting home. That passed when I got to mushies and was able to get in more protein. Where are you having your surgery performed? We're here for you whenever you have any questions - feel free to ask!
  20. Wow, a lot transpired during the short time I was offline - I agree with Cajun - take your sparring to PM or agree to call a truce. This forum is for support of one another, not for a "he said/she said" open debate.
