For my first two fills, they couldn't have possibily gone more smoothly. They were each 1cc. This morning, I had a third cc injected, and I'm in a LOT of pain right now. Can anyone offer any possible explanation for this????

No, the pain is not near my port and doesn't seem to be caused by eating, although maybe aggravated slightly by eating. The pain feels like it's right where the band is. It's like a dull, but very persistant pain that is relieved somewhat if I lay down on my back. I'm sure it must be swelling. I'm just so surprised that after my first two fills, I wouldn't feel a thing, but after this one, i'm in quite a bit of pain....

if you want something sweet try blending artificial sweetner and almond/vanilla/mint/maple extract into ricotta cheese (yum...kinda tastes like cheese cake)

Hi Everyone! According to my surgeon, most patients get their port placed under their skin. Mine, however, was placed under the muscle. Specifically, under the fascia of my muscle (i think "fascia" just means the outer most layer of a muscle). My surgeon told me he decided to do this during surgery as he thought the port might become visible after surgery when i started losing weight as I don't carry much of my excess fat on my upper stomach. I was wondering if anyone else had their port placed under their muscle as well? Did the port in fact stay hidden as you lost weight? Was their lots of pain associated with the port during the healing process? Does it go away? Can you always feel it? Are fills very difficult considering the port is more "buried" than usual? THANKS!

Low BMI bandsters feedback please!

YES!!!! I'm so glad someone finally got a thread like this going. I had a BMI of 29 when I got banded which was only 4 weeks ago. My story is much the same as everyone elses: my weight yo-yo-ed like it was going out of style and I really really struggled just to stay in the overweight category, although there may have been a few times in my life when my weight put me in the obese category. Maybe. Sandee, since I'm only 4 weeks post op, I feel like I can't give you a fully informed opinion. Although I will say, considering it's surgery, it was sure a breeze. Short down time and little pain. Also, my scars are really inconspicuous. From a distance, you can't even tell. And it's only been 4 weeks!!! To all the low BMI veterans, I have a question. Did your fill docs ever give you a hard time about getting fills? Like, I went to Mexico to get the procdure and I have an appointment in a couple weeks with a local doctor that does fills and I have a sneeking suspicion that he'll take one look at me and say "you don't need a fill....your only 30 lbs from you ideal weight..." or something along those lines and either deny me a fill, deny me a second fill, barely put any saline solution into my port or something like that. Do I have any reason to be concerned?????? THANKS. And Sandee, I'll keep you posted, girl. -
I already did that. I was told that Dr. Davey does NOT do fills for non-patients.

Hello, I live in Alberta and was banded in Mexico in May. I'm having problems finding a doctor willing to do fills for me. Does anyone have suggestions for doctors, especially in British Columbia, that might considering doing fills for me???
