Week 1: 4 Miles 26 Miles left. I got off to a slow start this week, hopefully I can pick up the pace next week!
-
I had my first fill last week, and it was under flouro. My dr was having a hard time getting the needle (which is HUGE!) into the port. He had me lay on my right side, and tighten my stomach muscles. The port moved just a little bit and he was able to go right into it. Next time you go, ask your dr to try that if he still has trouble.

I got my first fill last week. I was on clear liquids for 3 days, full liquids for 3 days, mushies for 3 days, soft foods for 3 days and then on to regular foods.

I feel a little lucky in this department. My daughter is away at college, so my husband and I decided that we would not be giving out candy this year. We have instituted a 'no candy in the house' rule. He knows that it is a bad weakness and I'll binge if it is near me.

First Fill and it made me sick. Is this normal
Dana36 replied to momamia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a fill on tuesday and the white stuff they had me drink made me sick to my stomach. They told me it was barium. I had to drink quite a bit of it. My paperwork says to drink plenty of water to flush it out of your system. I also had a belly ache most of yesterday and had to stay near the bathroom. Today, I'm feeling better. -
I'm in! I'm 7 weeks out from surgery, and I've been lazy. So, I pulled out the WII fit this morning and started running on my mini trampoline. I'm shooting for 30 miles this month.

Has anyone ever eaten food 2 days after surgery?
Dana36 replied to lilmissy2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I think I would have been sick to my stomach if I ate something two days after surgery. I was barely able to sip water. -
Did anyone lose weight 6 weeks post op?
Dana36 replied to lilmissy2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 7 weeks out. I've lost 26 pounds since surgery, but have plateaued and haven't lost anything for about 2 weeks. I'm going tuesday for a fill to hopefully jump start my weight loss again. -
Terrible Pain in Left Shoulder/Heart Area
Dana36 replied to Shannonsonline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should be going away pretty soon if you are feeling it in your neck. It worked up to my neck and then my ear. I swear, I thought I had an ear infection it hurt so bad. But after the ear stopped hurting, all of the gas pain was gone. -
A heating pad and liquid tylenol helped with the gas the dr pumped into my stomach. But, I had a lot of regular gas also. It would make me dry heave, so the strips came in extremely handy!

Husband doesn't notice weight loss
Dana36 replied to Humming Bird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL! I walked through the house in a t-shirt with no panties. I was actually just running to the bathroom in the middle of getting dressed. That caught my husband's attention, he hollered, "Hey, your butt disappeared!" -
Terrible Pain in Left Shoulder/Heart Area

If you have any on hand, you can take it. If you have to go out to get some, they actually sell an adults liquid tylenol. It works really good! -
How 'bout those nonscale victories!!
Dana36 replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yesterday at work, I had to get on my hands and knees, crawl under my desk to unplug my internet line. Before, that would have caused excruciating pain in my knees. It didn't hurt at all!!! -
Terrible Pain in Left Shoulder/Heart Area

You don't need to take aspirin as it can irritate your stomach. Take liquid tylenol. Also, use a heating pad on your shoulder and chest, that will help the gas pains. -
My appointment will be next thursday on 11/3. Does anyone's dr do the fill under flouroscopy? I have to go to the hospital for my fill.
-
I had a fill scheduled for today, but I cancelled it. I'm having some shoulder pain, and since going on solids, I can only eat 6 ounces of food at a time. 3 six ounce meals a day are satisfying me, so I don't feel that I need a fill at this point. My dr said that my stomach was very fatty, and that is where I'm getting restriction from now. So, how much are you eating? Do you have a 'I'm full' signal? Mine is chest pressure.
-
I asked my dr if I had any Fluid. He said that I didn't. He said that my stomach had a lot of fat on it, so that is why I am tight. He said that all of a sudden, I would lose that stomach fat and then would not have any restriction. I can tell, over the last couple of weeks, my food is not keeping me as full. I'm worried about getting a fill though if I'm already having problems with pbing. I do agree that i eat too fast though. Yesterday when I pbed, a girl at work came up and accidentally startled me, that when I got stuck. I'm thinking about leaving, going to my car and eating where no one else is around.. that way I can concentrate on my food more.
-
I can beat that, I've been having Pb's and haven't even had a fill. I told my husband that if food is getting stuck now, there is no way that i can have a fill for a while. So far, I've gotten stuck on fish and turkey.

It was explained to me that Caffeine is an irritant that can put you at higher risk for the band eroding into your stomach. I drink decaf now.

For journaling your food, you can also use the Lapband.com site. It has a lot of great tools on that site! -
Do you have one incision that is big compared to the others? That is where the port is. Mine is on the right side, directly below my breast, below the ribs. I am about 5 weeks out from surgery right now and can just barely begin to feel the port.

I'm craving fish. I've eaten it twice a day for the last couple of days... funny thing, before surgery, I didn't like any kind of fish but tuna. Now, I'm eating all kinds.

Coffee anyone drinking it yet? How long do we have to wait?
Dana36 replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that I could drink all I want as long as it was decaf. I've gotten used to decaf and actually enjoy it. -

Okay, are you sure that you are eating enough calories or too many? I have to eat between 800-1000 to lose. Anymore or less than that, and I don't lose. Looking at your menu: Are your chicken tenders breaded? That is going to be lots of extra calories.. are they grilled or deep fried? Also, is the ranch dressing regular or fat free? Are you sure that you are getting enough protein? I just had my surgery about 5 weeks ago, and here is what I am eating right now: Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of turkey bacon Lunch: 4 ounces of tuna, 2 ounces grilled sweet potato Snack: String Cheese Dinner: Coated Cod and 2 ounces grilled sweet potato (I'm on a sweet potato kick right now!) I also have 2 12ounce mugs of coffee with a LOT of creamer (my vice) That gives me: Calories: 921 Fat: 35 Carbs: 48 Protein: 79 -

The same exact thing just happened to me. I was in my car and having a piece of tilapia fish. I threw up all over myself and my car. I had to come home from work.
