    Pregnancy After Miscarraige

Congratulations, I will pray for your baby. You may want to ice the area before your injection - numbs it, so it doesn't hurt so much. I had a miscarriage and was terrified with my next pregnancy. He is now 23, lol. Take good care of yourself - rest, good nutrition and positive thoughts.
  2. I was banded May 7,2009 - down 27lbs at my last MD visit. No fill yet. Next visit 7/20 - probably my first fill.

    Misscaraige with Lap Band

Hi Holli, I am so sorry for your loss. I have had miscarriages (long before the band). I lost my first son 24 years ago. The person who spoke to you in the hospital is obviously not educated in grief counseling. I am a nurse who has worked with women with high risk pregnancies and also worked with women who have had losses. It takes time to deal with the loss of a baby. You will not sleep, eat or think logically for a while. That's normal. It's grief. I remember the sound that came from my body when I lost my son - it's primal. Not everyone grieves the same way or for the same time. It must be hard not having your husband there. Try to find a support group. Sharing with others who have been through it helps. They won't say the stupid things that woman in the hospital said. Your baby was precious and important. Your age or the fact that you have a child does not change the fact that you lost your baby. I don't know of your beliefs, but I will say a little prayer for your baby. Take care of yourself.
  4. Hi RF, I remember my MD saying if I had a sinus infection or the flu he would "unfill" the band a little. I would call your MD. You need to be able to tolerate fluids. Hope you feel better soon.
  5. Hi Cyndi, I understand what you are going through and I admire your honesty. I too am on pureed foods (banded 5/7) It has been really tough. I have been living on yogurt and refried beens. The thought of a Protein shake makes me want to hurl. I did have baked Beans mashed up and a bite of a hotdog. I am too afraid to eat bread. I am craving fruit and cucumbers. I think when we are advanced to a regular diet and can prepare a balanced meal it will be easier. Hang in there. A few "meals" that have helped me are - refried beans, low fat cheese, microwave, then top with guacamole and low fat sour cream - feels like you really have something to eat. the other is ricotta, egg and parmesan cheese mixed, top with spaghetti sauce and low fat mozzarella - microwave or bake, kind of a no Pasta lasagna. Hope this helps. Stay strong! Mary

    Nauseated HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Reneek, Sorry You are not feeling well. I had 9 days of nausea. It was pretty miserable and I thought what the hell have I done. I was banded on 5/7/09 and I finally felt good on 5/17. My MD told me to stop the Protein shakes because they cause nausea, gas and bloating after surgery. I lived on CIB, Jello and sf popsycles. On Mothers Day my son and dil gave me a basket of jello and popsycles - LOL. I know you feel miserable but each day will get better. When I was feeling this bad I would see other people posting - I feel great - no pain - blah blah blah. Well I felt like crap for nine days. I now see alot of us have nausea. I have been where you are and it will get better. Hope each day is easier for you. mary
  7. Dubbee, It was hard for me with the liquids. Hang in there. I did the two weeks of preop Protein shakes, one week of liquids, one week of softs and started puree yesterday. I was very "grumpy" when my family had Chinese in front of me. I then just left the room. My husband doesn't get it. I have done things to get my mind off of eating - my garden is looking better than it ever has and my house is becoming very organized. I did have two days where I cried because I was hungry. But now in hindsite - it was emotional hunger, not physical. Each day will be easier, take one day and one Protein shake at a time. Good luck.

1 week post op follow up visit-SO HAPPY!

Way to go Cyndi, Had my MD visit today, surgery was 5/7. Down 21 lbs from my preop visit 4/27. Was sooooo happy to advance to puree foods. I have to admit my first 8 days were bad - the nausea just wouldn't quit. On Mothers Day I felt awful and thought - what the hell have I done. I have 6 kids and one grandson ( who was looked afraid of me on MD) - what a sight I was. Now I feel great, walking, gardening and drinking tons of H2O. Having the band was a big decision and I think I'm on the road to losing. Nice to hear your story and see how happy you are Mary
  9. Hey Cali, Happy to hear you're feeling better. I was starting to think I was the only one with nausea and not able to tolerate the protein drinks. Every says how good they feel right after. Each day is getting easier, but it's slow. Mary
  10. Barbara,

I would love to have someone banded the same day and the same age to be in contact with. We could support each other through this journey.

    Mary(mothermary)

  11. Hey curleytop, Glad to hear you are feeling better. My MD said no Protein drinks until the nausea subsides. He says they cause bloating and nausea. Each day is a little better. I have to admit I was wondering why the hell I did this on Mothers Day. I was lying down and my son and grandson came to visit. I could see in my three year old grandsons eyes how bad I looked. I am forging on, sips and sips. It took me an hour and a half to drink half a carnation instant Breakfast at dinner time. I made tacos for the family (one of my fav's) and I had no desire to eat. I am thankful that I am not hungry. Today I noticed the swelling in my belly has deflated - another step forward. Just taking one day at a time.
  12. Hi everyone, Was anyone else banded on May 7th. I'm not bouncing back as quickly as I thought. I'm having a really hard time tolerating fluids. I have also had nausea since I came home. I called my MD and he said just drink clears until I feel better. I am walking everyday, but I feel very weak and lightheaded, so I only walk when my husband is with me. I have had surgery before, a C/S and hysterectomy and recovered faster. It could be I'm older (51) and I now have rheumatoid arthritis. I'm trying to keep my spirits up but I feel like crap. Hope everyone else is doing well.
  13. I was banded 5/7/09. Today I still don't feel well. It's hard to take more than a few sips at a time, I'm pretty sore and have small waves of nausea. I don't know if it's because they did a hiatal hernia repair at the same time. I have had surgery before (C/S and hysterectomy) thought I would sail through like I did in the past. Not so good this time.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm a Mayo bandito too :glare: Had my band done on May 7th. A little sore, and getting fluids down very slowly. Good luck and prayers to all who are being banded this month. We are off on our journey.

Just Banded!!! On Wednesday - May 6, 2009!

Hi chubby cheeks, I was banded May 7,2009. I have a little more pain than you, maybe because they had to do an hiatal hernia repair. The gas pain in my chest and upper back is getting better, I walked and used gas x. I can barely drink. one cib, one water, one popsicle, one water, one protien shake. Did not finish any. I'm not pushing, when I feel full I stop. Good luck to both of us on this journey.
  16. Hi, I live outside of Boston and am scheduled for May7th. Good luck to both of us. Where are you having your surgery. I am going to Caritas Norwood.

  17. you look amazing, you are an inspiration. I hope I do as well as you.

  18. Hi, new to the site, band is scheduled. I'm a little nervous but excited to have the surgery. I have been researching it for a few years and finally made the decision. I have rheumatoid arthritis and need to relieve my joints of the weight. It's great to have this site to hear from everyone who has been down this road.
  19. Mayday - scheduled May 7th - good luck to all of us starting my liquid diet April 27th, same day I have my preop visit. Here's to liquid protein!
  20. I'm not telling anyone either. I am taking two weeks off from work, vacation. I need to stay overnight and wondered - can I drive myself home. I can't see why not.
  21. Hi all, have my surgery date for May 7th, getting a little nervous, thought by hearing from others it would help.
