did you happen to read that post?

I agree, us sleevers are only trying to make people aware of their choices ...research your doctor whether its for VSG or lapband...if the doctor is an idiot then everyone needs to be made aware...why should someone else suffer problems or worse to be a nice person. Facts are facts....protect yourself and research your doctor...someone posted just because a person becomes a doctor doesn't mean they know what they're doing...very true statement.
  5. I'm having VSG surgery soon and would like to communicate with persons having surgery soon or have had surgery the past few months..I have met several of you already. I know in most cases most doctors in US do not want to touch us but I have 65 lbs to lose I cannot accomplish with regular dieting techniques. Let me hear from you...would like to compare notes in several areas...thanks!

My surgery date with Dr Aceves June 17th!!

I'm so happy to hear from everyone...as I stated before I'm excited but nervous..thank goodness my friend Pam and I are having our surgeries together...our husbands will be there too..so they'll have each other to visit with while they aren't holding our hands..lol Actually I'm taking my laptop and Ipod...don't want to sound like we're trying to make a party out of this but I do feel I'm starting a new life and on the road to being healthy. So many of our thinner friends keep telling us just exercise and go to weight watchers..we wish it were than easy don't we? Its funny b/cause Pam and I were the skinny ones in high school..she was 100lbs and I was 105lbs..we're still trying to figure out what happened?? I adore Mexican food and she said she's never met a chicken fried steak she didn't like!! This forum is so great and such a wonderful support system. I feel like I have made so many new friends and we all have so much in common..keep the chats, suggestions coming... they are greatly appreciated. We can't wait to meet Dr Aceves and staff--only heard great things about them
  7. I'm hoping to wear a 2 piece swimsuit down the road..will scars heal well enough in the future to do this? Please don't be shy to tell me if the scars will be too severe.. thanks

    Skinny time!!!!!

I will just miss you..my surgery is June 17th with Dr Aceves..I feel the same I'm ready to be skinny and healthy...
  9. After much networking about VSG I have a date of June 17th with Dr Aceves in Mexicali and look forward taking the path on my new journey and life as I am nervous yet excited...sound familiar? I'm looking forward to making new friends as a support system and to lean on and exchange news..protein supplement preferences, recipes, anything to help each other.. etc.. My real concern is the amount of Protein intake and hair loss. Can anyone share info about any protein pills or amino acid pills with protein? Please let me hear from you...:glare:
  10. Does anyone have hands on experience or suggestions with plastic surgeons in Mexico? Please state good experiences and your procedures and cost. I have already read the posts from Plastic Surgeons in the states who suggest not to do this. Thanks for any concrete info to share. I am self pay and 10-15K per procedure is out of the question.

    Gastric Sleeve

I find better interaction with gastric sleeve info on this sight as opposed to obesity help..PLEASE keep posts coming..if someone doesn't want to read about VGS than don't read...we are all here to help one another. It seems there are lapbanders with numerous problems so if they learn more info about sleeve it may be of great value to their health. I was almost a bandster and realized the fills would not work for me. I have many relatives with diabetes which is why I chose sleeve and the aspect of the lower maintenance appealed to me. This does not mean I don't respect someone's choice for lapband. I have several friends with LB who are very happy. Networking is the name of the game and if we can help one another why not?

    Decisions Decisions

I am not familiar with any docters in Costa Rica but after extensive research and networking I chose Dr Aceves and feel I will not be disappointed. I am a real skeptic and narrowed it down to 2 doc in Mexico and went with Dr Aceves b/cause of great communication with Nina in his office and he seemed to be the most experienced with VSG. It is a hospital rather than a clinic and he also offers more hospital night stays to be sure. Also, the area where he is located in Mexico is not a high risk border town. Good luck with whoever you choose..my date is set for mid June and I'm counting the days down!
