I am one of the unfortunate ones. I have major skin issues. I don't know if its because I lost rapidly or that I have yo-yo'd on my weight all my life. Small price to pay though for the success and the new life that the band has given me!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate everyone here! Just having a small dinner with family tomorrow. The best kind!

Great job, such a success! You look fabulous!

I don't think its cheating, but I can't imaging sucking the grease of a nugget would be very tastee.

Is it like sticking out and noticable or you can feel it under the skin when you rub over it? It is normal to feel it when you rub over it. Those that have lost a lot of weight can sometimes see it poking out. They make a low profile port that can replace the original, but I think it can still be felt if you rub your hands over it.

I am an Okie living in Dallas now. Grew up and graduated in Broken Arrow. Wish I could get back up there, but the job market is just too good here in Dallas. I do miss the slower pace for sure.

I am not sure about the amount. My rule is to eat until I am no longer hungry instead of eating until I am full. The alcohol and carb question would be up to you and how quickly you want to loose. I haven't had alcohol yet because they are empty calaries (Although I plan on having a shot of tequilla to celebrate Onederland shortly I hope ) I had stayed with a low carb diet. I think it has helped me to loose faster than average. Partly because I am impatient and wanted faster results. There are those who eat carbs in moderation. They may loose a little slower, but are still every bit as successful. Hope that helps. Your doing great!

Good question. I have heard of the expression, but have no clue. I am not a young-en though I don't think my 80's hair band music would be considered emo though?!?

It mean "Non-Scale Victory" For example, if you can fit into a smaller size clothing, that would be a NVS, Something good that happens without looking at the scales.

Thanks. Not trying to hijack your success, just thought it was ironic we were banded at almost the same time and hit a milestone at the same time. Don't know about you, but I know I am so close to goal, but I look in the mirror and don't feel so close. I need to re-evaluate my self image I guess

That is great. We hit that mark at the same time. I weighed this morning bringing my BMI to 29.9 and no longer obese. Sounds like we are right on track with each other Great job!

Hi Sharon, Love NSU! Went there after high school for several years. Wish I had graduated there. I hear they are no longer the Redmen because of the PC police? Is that right?

Too Stitch Or Not Too Stitch??
ousooner replied to sheilamj1fan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just to add, there is a link on my homepage that you can watch a surgery being performed and they stich the band in place as well. Warning though, not for the squeemish See the link below. -
All I know is that my life expectancy would have been far less that 67 if I had continued down the unhealthy, MO life I was leading. I honestly don't think the band has been around long enough (even the ones done around the world before they were approved in the US) to determine what the life expectancy is. I think it was mentioned earlier that life expectancy may be lower due to damage we have done to ourselves by being overweight in the first place. Too many factors IMHO.

Alicia - looking great! You are much smaller, but your smile is much bigger! Proud of ya! Another May banding success!

I have heard good things about Barix Clinics in general down here in Texas, but thats about it. -
I feel comfortable with my doctor using floro. I sure it is fine without, but it puts me at ease. If I lift my head a little, I watch the screen while its being done, kinda cool to watch.
