No problem Sunta. Thanks for responding and clearing things up. As I said, we can agree to disagree on the belief part, no problems there.

THe truth doesn't in this case. Maybe I should have norrowed down the quote. You have every right to believe Jesus is mythological. Obviously we can agree to disagree on that. I think the part that caught me was you stating that only people who think life is too scary to live without something to beleive in beleive in God. To imply that people with a religious faith (of any faith) only believe because they are not well adjusted people is very narrow-minded. All I am asking, and remember I am against how Ron is coming across on this thread, is that you don't act the same way he does. Just asking for respect. I feel I am a very well rounded person. Thanks.

That statement is as insensative and hurtful and narrowminded as the things Ron has been saying.

Looks like a lot of soon to be bandsters here. Good luck to you all

Biggest mistake you've made SINCE banding?
ousooner replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I made my biggest mistake just this week. I am 8 1/2 months out and have never PB'd, slimes, etc. So I made a roast this week, when I took it out and tasted it, I took way to big of a bite and it was too hot to chew, so I instead of spitting it out, I swollowed it. Bingo. First PB. I don't know if it is possible, but I think it was stuck for almost 2 days. I couldn't keep anything down for the rest of the day and the next. Now everything is fine. I went to the doctor to make sure and he had me swollow barium under the flouro and he said I was ok. No roast for me for a while! -
Thanks guys, feeling better now, actually went for a small fill this morning and still feeling good. Drews - congrats on the roller derby, your going to kick ass for sure! Myra - have fun at the gym, make it fun and not work like Everyone else is doing so well. Proud of our group!

Ron - I promised myself I would not chime in here. but I am going to against my own judgement. Fisrt of all, I will start by saying I am a Christian, no doubts about my faith and my relationship with God. I believe the Bible at its word. I admit I am not as well versed as you. While I believe in most of what you are saying, the way way you are saying it is terrible. The bible does teach us to spread the word, but I beleive in tact, which you have little or none of. Sorry to be so blunt. The bible also teaches us to love and to not offend or turn people away from God. To be honest, if I were athiest or agnostic, after hearing the way you presented the gospel, I would want no part of it. Period. I also beleive in praying for people's soul and that they will someday come to know God the way we do, but to tell that to a non-believer is insulting to them. You don't always have to tell people your intentions. Again, tact is in order. This thread has become useless and harmfull to your cause. Just my two cents. Sorry for the rant.

Andrew- thanks for the encouraging words. I don't know what you would substitute for beer. I was never a fan of beer (though I would occasionally partake). I did however have a shot of Tequilla when I weighed under 200 and had a shot of Juagarmeister on New Years with no problem except that I am such a lightweight now.

Jack, I assume that was aimed at me? Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound!

Great question. I don't know, but have haven't heard of anyone saying they reached there max. Sometimes it only takes a minor tweak to get that restiction. I wouldn't worry about it at this point.

Good LAP BAND Dr. in DALLAS TX???
ousooner replied to elvisgirl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went through Dr Cribbens. I really like him and his staff. His partner is Dr Hamm who Did one of my fills and he was great too. There info is at www.yournewhealth.net -
Thanks. I can't remember how much fill I have. I am going Friday for a fill and I am going to make sure I ask and will let know. I think I am at 6 or 7 in the VG band.
-
Just remember that the band works different than RNY, they usually loose much faster. The band is a slow and steady way to loose. You didn't mention RNY, but I think us bandsters get caught up in the numbers game with other WLS patients. Hang in there.

I am going to get a TT for sure. Somehow, someway! I thought when I started this process I would be very satisfied with just the wieght loss. Now that I am close to goal, I can't stand the extra skin. I don't think I could ever see myself as NOT fat until I don't have to see the loose skin. I am right there with you and I am not gay - not that there is anything wrong with that (Seinfeld reference )

Hi guys, Haven't posted here in a while. Marz - sorry to hear about your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I had my first PB yesterday. Totally my fault. I ate a peice of roast and it was too hot to chew, so I swollowed it instead of spitting it out. Big mistake. Feel better today though. I go for a fill on Friday. The PB was not caused by too much restriction, just too big of a bite.

Hi guys! Good to talk to other guys here I was banded here in Dallas in May and it has been a life saver. Tidefan - who did yours here in Dallas? I went through Dr. Cribbens. I go for a fill on Friday (my 4th).

I am originally from Oklahoma and the street signs in Tehlequah, OK are in Cherokee. But I also agree with BJean about other countries. I grew up overseas (including Spain, Holland, and Libya). While we did have an English speaking school in Lybia (financed by all the oil companies), when I attended school in Holland and Spain, I was in classes that made no attempt to accomidate my needs (and those of the several other American kids) Classes were taught in Dutch and Spanish respectively. I think not having an official language is bad for this country, not devistating or anything, but just bad policy. I am not offended by others speaking their native language and keeping their culture alive. I think thats a great thing. But I feel that for official documents, etc., One language would be the proper thing to do.

Obama...first african american...would you vote for him?????
ousooner replied to shauntil6266's topic in Rants & Raves
My thoughts exactly. I would love it if JC Watts ran (Former congressman from Oklahoma.) I really liked his ideology and views. -
I didn't find it until after I had the surgery. I don't think it would have changed my mind though. I think it shows how simple the surgery is. No cutting or re-routing you insides. It shows how the band is placed and sutured in place. The commentary is very good as well. The doctors walk you though the process in a very matter of factly manner. If you squeemish, maybe its not a great idea, but if your not, I think its very informative.

I think you are experienceing a very common feeling Just remember that statistics show 98% of obese people who loose weight, gain it it back. Only you can decide if this is what you truely want, but I can tell you, I have never made a better decision in my life.

Hillary Clinton, First Woman President of the US. Would you vote for her?
ousooner replied to godloveshope2's topic in Rants & Raves
I obviously don't have all the answers. Apparently no one does or we wouldn't be having this conversation. I am not heartless and don't wish for death for anyone, I simply think there has to be a better way to do things rather than have big government take care of it. I am not a great debater and don't want to get drawn in over my head. Just wanted to chime in with my thoughts. -

Honestly, I am not familiar with his plan, but the answer is yes. If it is as you say, I don't care what Party a person is affiliated with, I would be against it. I find a govenment big enough to have that much power to be very scary. I think charity should be in the hands of the private sector. Those who want to give should and those that don't should have that right as well. I don't want to government to create assistance programs on my behalf and force me to participate. I give to charity all the time, but I get to choose. -

Since I am not from that part of the world, I don't know who she ran against. She may have been the lesser of two evils. I just know about things that I have read and heard her talk about, such as her healthcare plan. Sounds very socialistic to me. The motto that has stuck with me is that any government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you need. Just my 2 cents.
