Warnings, And Precautions
ousooner replied to kbattal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am confused, you are reckless enough to give YOURSELF a fill, then you post this message to scare people. If your so concerned about safety, your previous actions make no sense. -
I had a peice of meat stuck for almost 2 days. It was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Then all of the sudden, I had a bout of hiccups and it went down. Hang in there, but if its painfull, I would call your doctor.

Hi BJean, I am here, just not really posting much on this subject. Debate can be good, but this thread has gone beyond that to be hurtful and harmfull to my veiws. So I sit and lurk and try not to add fuel to the fire.

Good luck Ted, Keep us posted when you get back

I used Dr. Cribbins. Had a great experience and did several of my co-workers. I have a link on my website to his office.

I am sorry that you feel that my posts have no substance and that you are intellectually superior to me that we can not carry on conversation. Maybe you should find another site that deals with going against medically supervised orders and self medication with other geniouses such as yourself. Good luck to you sir.

You make a lot of assumptions. I have disclosed what kind of band i have and recently posted my fill information. Along with Chickie, I also disagree the importance of this info as every person is different. A 5 or 7 fill amount will have a different reaction for me than from someone else, So my info is not relevent to someone else's experience. I have told you out of courtesy, but it proves nothing. I like my docotr, but I have honestly not seen him (until this last fill last week) since the day after surgery. When I have gone in, I have only seen his Assistant. Like Chickie says, if you want to risk complications doing your own fills, thats on you, but you are being extremely irresposible in advocating that other go against their doctor and against medical advise and treat themselves. I think thats where we have a problem with you. I too find it creepy that you post a link to all my previous posts. I know its public info and I have nothing to hide, but very strange for you to link it it your post.

Fill or no fill? Opinions needed!! (LONG)
ousooner replied to AngieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just a theory of mine. I haven't yet inquired about it to my doctor. I need to though -
Its going to be a trial and error thing. I personally have had no problems eating out. I follow a strict low/carb/low fat diet so I often opt for chicken or lean meat of some sort. I try to fit in veggies of some sort as well.

Good question. I usually do the treadmill first, but for no particular reason. I am interested to see what is posted as it may change my routine. Thanks for the question!

Fill or no fill? Opinions needed!! (LONG)

I agree that a small fill might be in order. You have done so well from the looks of your ticker! Congrats. I find I have problems keeping restriction. I think as I loose, my stomach continues to shrink and thus less restriction. You might find that to be the case for you too. You might have shrunk from 6 months ago and 3.5 may not be too tight now. Just a thought. Good luck and keep us posted. -
There is a Casa Bonita in Tulsa Oklahoma too. Loved it as a kid. Haven't been there in years, Edit. After doing a google search. it appears that the Tulsa resteraunt closed in 2005. Guess I won't be going back anytime soon! http://losttulsa.com/uploaded_images/Casa%20Bonita-711950.JPG

That we can agree on for sure

I am sure I have a VG band. I just went for my 5th fill to bring me to 7.75. But, until over 6 months in, I had 5.5. I didn't much restriction, so I understand your frustration. But I would never "test" my band to see how much I could eat by eating 2 whoppers. I also wouldn't dish out medical advise as if you were medically trained. Its very dangerous. This is a place for support.

I'll take the Cowboys! oh, wait.......

Thanks, I won't hold that against you

No problem, I see you posted a clarification below this one. I do believe in the bible literally. I just think this thread is doing more harm than good, thats why I have spoken out against Ron's method. I don't disagree with most of his theological points. I will be the first to admit I am hypocritical at times as I don't always live up to my belief system, but I know what I believe and what I don't.

I'll bite, my answer is yes.

Patients would be the thing needed in waiting for a fill. You make it seem like everyone will have the same restriction with the same fill amounts. Everyone is different. Some find good restriction with only 1 or 2 fills, others needs more. Thats why doctors are trained to do these. I would never tell someone to be patient and not seeks medical advice froma doctor when they can't drink in the mornings or barely im the afternoon. Its one think to be reckless with yourself and do your own fills, but to offer others advise like you are their doctor is another issue. Please be carefull my friend. By the way, I also have the VG band and have lost quite nicely with less fill than what your "charts" say is necessary.

The thing that amazes me is that he will do it himself, but he is very concerned about the doctor's he goes to and wether they have the proper radiology equipement and all. Does he have that equipement himself? Personally I would drive 1000 miles rather than do it myself.
-
It's ok Ron, its obvious your just not getting it. No need to respond to my post. Thanks.

This seems to be the Anti-Semitism "de-tox" thread.
-
Ron, I for one (and I suspect most here) have never stated you should change your beliefs and views. I think that at a certain point, you have to agree to disagree and move on. The key words there are "move on". I believe the same as you on most of what you have said, but your combative ways are not winning anyone over. Respectfully agree to disagree and move on and stop turning so many people against Christianity.

Tonya, congrats on the surgery and fast start
