This doesn't address the issue with new members not knowing what the R&R section is all about. -

Mark, That would fall under "other" I'm afraid -

I allowed multiple votes. In case more than one was wanted. If you want an ignore featur and not to show up in new posts, you can, or leave as it and Other, you can. -
Sorry I missed this Drews! You have done so well, even with your early setbacks. It has been and will continue to be wonderful sharing this journey with you and all my May 2006 bandsters! You conitinue to inspire and push me. Congrats!

I posted a poll in the Lounge area, to get a broader perspectice other than us who visit the R&R section. Here is the link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=34851

How do I add a poll to this htread, ot do I need to start e new one? I think the moderators would be shocked how much in the monority there are on this!

This will never change, I shouldn't have even brought it up. This board is run by people who post probably at least 75% of their posts (looking at the posting history) in the R&R section and concentrate less on lap-band support.

Been away for a bit. I suggested this as a good comprimise as I have seen it work well on other boards. Wheetsin, your right, it does say on the far right hand side what forum its in, but as a newbie, I had no idea what I was getting into. I was simply trying to make this a better board for Lap-Band support which should be the main resaon for this board. The other stuff is fine if you want, but should be secondary. Thats just my opinion. Otherwise we should rename LapBandTalk.Com to AthiestChristianBoyloveMormanAbortionTalk.com. Maybe we really need to re-evaluate our priorities here.

I am not telling anyone they don't have a choice to have a baby or not. My only point, and this is for men and women, make that decision before you have sex. Any sex can result in pregnancy no matter what precautions you might take. All I am saying that if you choose to have sex, their might be consequences. This is not about religion or morals, its about personal responsibility and accountability. Flame me if you want

Its ashame too, I got so much support here too and still do from some ongoing threads. THe problem is that I got suckered into the R&R section by looking in the New Posts section and not knowing what I was getting into. As heated as some of the threads get, its hard not to form opinions of others and have ill feelings because of some of the things said and that carries over to the other, supportive, threads.
-
Sorry, Mark. According to the others, mine and your opinions are not wanted or needed because we are men.

Just wanted to pop in and say congrats to those already banded and those with upcoming dates. I am a year out today and let me tell you its all worth it! Go get em May Bandsters!

Soft Serve Frozen Yogurt
ousooner replied to susansilver's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your correct, my apologies. I will be quiet. -
I am pro choice, but I think the choice should be made before you sleep with someone. Anytime sex is involved, pregnancy can be an outcome, no birth control is 100%. Abortion should not be used as birth control. And as for no man should have a say so, while the mother carried the baby, the baby is genetically half of the man's, so why should he not have a say in the matter if he is the father. That is crap! Clearly I am pro-life (but not for religious reasons) Any one who has seen an ultra-sounds, even with a very young fetus and say its not a life is crazy. All due respect to you BOH ( my fellow NSU buddy) but I have to disagree. Just my 2 cents.

Soft Serve Frozen Yogurt
ousooner replied to susansilver's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would vote neither. Just because it says yogurt doesn't mean its a healthy food choice. Its is still full of fats and sugars and "empty calories". -
Well, here we are, One year post op. May was a popular month and I have enjoyed and been inspired by all my May Bandster partners. What can i say other than I love my band. It has been one of the best years oof my life. I feel like I have my life back Let me post some before and after stats: Before/After 334/175-180(at goal and maintaining) 56 inch waist/34 inch waist (pant size) 54% body fat/19% body fat XXXL/Med to Large (shirt size) borderline diabetic with high blood pressure/low-normal range for both I have gotten my life back because of the Band. I can do anything I want to now and not have to worry about if I am to heavy or large to participate. I have lost weight before, but never reached my goal and never kept it off. I have been at goal for 3 months now and have maintained. Thanks to you all for sharing this journey with me. __________________

That's the one thing I understand. I grew up as a child in Libya. As Americans we targeted because we were Americans. Though not physically abused, our house was broken into several times and our pets killed. So yes, I do understand what its like to be singled out and be a victim of crime because of who I am.

Sunta, First of all, your claim that Christan's wish harm and violence to anyone is absurd! I am not opposed to the bill. My point is that all crime should be treated equally, a hate crime is a hate crime regardless of races, gender, sexuall preference, etc, make no difference to me. I oppose all violent crime and think the penalties should be very harsh equally across the board. I think the point Jill was trying to make (and she can correct me if I'm wrong ) is that someone bent on committing a crime out of hatred will do so regardless of the penalty and adding extra time won't be a determining factor. I am sorry you have such disdain for Christan's and religion in general. I think I have been very respectfull of you in my posts on religious matters, but it definately seems you have an agenda against organized religion.
-
Linda, you have done such an awesome job. I am so proud of this May 2006 group.

Hi Mark, I certainly respect your views. I am not a great debater (as I've said ) I don't have all the aswers, but I do beleive God is fair and just and wouldn't do that. If I understood it as you do, I wouldn't want to be a part of it either.

It wasn't meant to disrespect. By saying this I just meant that for me, personally, I don't need scientific proof to validate my faith. For some, they need that. I can't prove that God exists, its my faith that he does. I can't prove the Bible is true, its my faith that it is. We are all different and come to our belief system differently, thats all. If someone were to ask me to prove that God exists, I can't prove it, I can only share my experiences and my beliefs. Just as I don't believe in sweethots religion, I respect her for her faith and her respectfulness, just I do everyone else's.
