If there was a charge, I don't remember it, It must have been covered by my co-pay. He does both the band and RNY and he gave the pro's and con's to both. very informative.

Same here. My PCP did not even know I was having it done, not that I was keeping it from him, just that Dr Cribben's and my insurance did not require his referal. Hope that helps.

That sounds about right from what I recall. He doesn't do the pre-op liquids, but makes up for it with a long post op liquid diet. You can make your Protein shakes thicker by blending bananas and/or Peanut Butter with the chocolate Protein Shakes.

I don't want to diet before banding or pre-op diet. Is this normal?
ousooner replied to hopefull loser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fortunate enough not to have to do a pre-op diet. I had several "last" meals. So I understand where your coming from. But, like CyndiLou says, The liver is very close while doing surgery and some Dr's feel more comfortable havinf shrunk the liver. You can see the surgery performed from the link on my website. During the procedure, they show where the liver is while the banding is being done. Best of luck. -
Glad everything went to well. It amazes me how different Hamm and Cribbins are. Hamm is a no nonsense guy and tells you like it is (in a good way) and Cribbins is the super nice, bedside manner kind of guy. They are both good, but very different. I used Dr Cribbins, But Hamm has done one of my fills and have freinds that used hom too.

Would it be possible for off topic threads to not be shown in the New Posts section at the top. I belong to anther board with an identical format and it was decided off topic threads would not shown there. I have read several posts and I did this at one point as well, that when you click on the new post section, you don't really know what forum its in. Its obvious most are comfortable having the Rants and Raves section and have turned this board into a general board instead of a support tool. For the newbies looking for support, I think it would be a great idea for them to see only the on topic things when they check out new posts and if they want to verture further, they can. Imagine the suprise on many newbies logging in and click on new posts only to see topics on abortion, boy love, religion, etc. Just a thought To participate in a poll, click the link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=34851

Its very possible, but like Gayle, said. It will depend on how quickly you get get in for any other tests that may be required and how quick the insurance company is re approve. Like I said in a previous post, the stars aligned for me and I had my surgery 5 weeks to the day after my innitial consult. Hope it work that well for you.

ousooner replied to OhioChick1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine looks totally different than I do now. Not only have I lost weight, but I have grown my hair out for the first time in a dozen years. I get a lot of double takes a nd question about it. My pic is also on the from of my Visa debit card and I get the same reaction to that. -
wait until your comfortable. I would think a week or so and you'll be fine as long as you don't plan to swing from the chandeliers!
-
Wow Joe, Thats very humbling. Now others are looking at you the same way. Keep doing what your doing!
-
Thats great Joe. What a great milestone!

Hi guys. Looks like everyone is doing good. Here are new before and after pics. THe before pic was on taken at work and was kind of the straw that broke the camels back. After seeing how fat I had become in that pic, I decided to get banded. Notice I have on the same tie. Pre-op, I bareley had enough for the back piece and it wouldn't fit through the loop. Now its almost too long.

Great news! It will be here before you know it.

Anyone in Dallas/Fort Worth?
ousooner replied to Lotsacurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome cleocoe, are you pre or post op? -
I never said that you said I should be banned I said people, and you did say that. Out of respect for Alex and his request to get along, I won't bring it up again.
-
Agreed. Your running this site is appreciated. I don't think anyone ever suggested shutting down the R&R section. That wasn't even mentioned I don't beleive. I just make a recomendation based on a need I saw (imho) and left it for what it was worth. No harm in making suggestion is there?
-
Alex's work is appreciated. This doesn't address my initial concern, but its not my site to run, so I'm not bitching. Your post makes no sense, Laurend. You are the biggest defender of the R&R section and the way this site is run, but now your saying people should be banned to stop people from debating and so there will be some peace and quiet? Which way do you want it?

Hate to burst your bubble Susan, but I started this thread and wasn't around during that time, or if I was, had no clue about it. I have posted semi-regularly although not as much as I used to because of the tone of the boards. Thats why I suggested the change. Your entitled to your opinion just as I am to mine.
