lots of skin here. But mainly on my stomach. My arms are good and thankfully no man boobs for me. My thighs are bad too, but they don't effect the way my clothes fit like my stomach does. I am scheduled for a Tummy Tuck on Feb 11th.

I have to agree with everyone. I guess a year and a half out makes me an oldie, maybe not. But I don't mind encouraging others and givng my experiences, but I won't validate someone making bad descisions and teliing them it is ok to do so. And I will only say so if they put the question out their. I will encourage them to get back on track. Hell, I need that myself sometimes.

Lap band over previous bypass surgery
ousooner replied to darnell239's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, a commitment has to be made. I had a lady at work ask me about my surgery and has in fact got an appointment for a consultation with my Dr. Last night she asked me if she would have to give up pizza, because if she did, she didn't know if she wnated to do it. I had to remind her that pizza isn't healthy even without the band (for the most part) and that she may or may not be able to eat pizza after the band, but more importantly, she needed to be ready to make big changes and be willing to give up some things for her health. As its been said many time, this is not a quick or easiy fix. Its a tool that takes committment. -

Lap band over previous bypass surgery
ousooner replied to darnell239's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Darnell, good your doing your research. There are complications, but they are rare. Here is a good study. It, shows as I have read and seen in other places, that the complication rate is low. LAP-BAND: Statistics subframe Here is another that has side-by-side risk comparison with RNY (scroll down about half way) Compare Gastric Bypass and Lap Band Weight Loss Surgeries Hope these help -
Yep, i have a consult on Novemebr 13th, Hope to have it done in January. :Banane35:

Good to know I am just an idiot, but do not have a personality disorder, wheeew, that makes me feel better I don't care to go back to that thread, you brought it up, not me.
-
Well, since I started the thread and was vocal, I assume I am one of the "ringleaders". And that quote was quoted in the other quotes. so...If I am wrong, my apologies
-
Wow. I assume since I started the thread in question, I am the idiot. Kind of gives me the "warm and fuzzies" to know I am an idiot with a personality disorder. Thanks Laurend and Wendell.

Congrats Rick, I live in the Dallas area.

With the band you only lose x lbs. Why?
ousooner replied to JodyG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 and 5 year studies show that RNY and Lap-Band have virtually the same success rates. around 55 to 60 % and again those are just averages. RNY looses more and faster, but tend to regain about 10% after the first year and a half to 2 years. -
Your definately right I think how your BP will react to weight loss will depend on whats causing the high BP. Some people have High BP caused things other than weight and weight loss would not help them. I am assuming mine was due to weight since mine did respond to weight loss.

You have found the right place. Hunger and eating are still issues, the band is a tool, not a magic potion. I have reach goal and still struggle to make good choices and stop when I am full. It does get much easier with the band, but its still there Awesome start, congrats Thats interesting, I have always heard that it didn't and heard bandsters who fly say it didn't, Maybe their setting were set too sensative or something. When I was younger, my peircings set it off, hard to explain nipple rings to security!

Congrats. Glad to see someone so far out still doing well!

my blood pressure was high pre-op. In fact the Dr wnated me to come back after my annual physical to put me on medication. Since the weight has come off, I am on the low side of normal. The other day at the dentist, it was 112/62 and that was when I was very nervous about being there. It has helped me tremendously. The same story for my blood sugar

Just my 2 cents. I think it would be discrimination if E-harmony refused to let portions of the society join at all. That would be wrong. But I also think its wrong to tell a company what kind of service or product they "have" to offer

Your food plan of choice.
ousooner replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose other because I followed a low fat and low carb, with high protein diet post op. I am a little more leanient since I've reached goal, but stay true to it most of the time. -

11cc Bronto-band: Does it EVER Fill Up?
ousooner replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Brandi, you are right about the sizes. I would check and verify with your doctor about your fill amounts. They can be overfilled to a small degree, but I would doubt at 3 months post op, you would be nearly at that point. -
11cc Bronto-band: Does it EVER Fill Up?
ousooner replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My experience is a little different. I lost all my weight with out good restriction, I hit goal weight in February and had a 0.25 fill to help maintain. I maintained ok for a couple of months, but gained a few pounds the last couple of months. I went last Friday and explained and he gave ma an agressive fill of 1.0 giving me a total of 8.25, if my calculations are correct.I can honestly say that for the first time, I have good restriction. I think part of my problem was that I held myself to a very strict diet and was loosing so well, my Dr was very conservative on my previous fills, afraid of overfilling. -
Chickie said what I was going to say. I thinks its just because people we know haven't seen us not fat. I get that a lot. My mom says I am getting too thin. I told her I am in a 34 inch waist and point out others who have the same waist size and asked her if they are too thin, she said no, So I asked her why I am too thin then, She didn't have an answer.
