Hello everyone! I'm due to be banded on August 25th. I am so scared but excited. As I start (or continue...it's been a 3 year process) down this journey I am reaching out for some support. I have only told one person and that is my mom. For some reason I don't feel the people in my life would be supportive and I guess I'm scared if they knew and I backed out...what would they think. Anyways...this is the right way for me. I'm hoping there are words of wisdom or someone who would be willing to be a "support person" out there through this site.

Starting New Life and Terrified
Hopeful in Maine replied to lingra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ingra - Hopefully as you read this you have successfully gone through the surgery. I am scared as well (banding on 8/25) but I keep thinking of the positives. We are going to be thinner and healthier soon! Stay strong -
Which shakes are the best?
Hopeful in Maine replied to Mickey527's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the shakes that I enjoy and that is fairly reasonable as far as cost is Carnation Instant Breakfast Sugar Free. I find it's really yummy with 8 ounces of cold skim milk! -
Will be BANDED August 25th....Anybody Else??
Hopeful in Maine replied to Parshuter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I'm scheduled for August 25th as well!!! I am very excited and super duper nervous!! I started my pre-op diet on Tuesday so 3 down and 11 to go. I love the fact that we will be able to chat and keep each other posted...it also looks like we are all similar in age. I'm 39 but will be 40 on Nov 7th. Any chance anyone else is single and wondering the impact on our dating lives?? -
Need Support!
Hopeful in Maine replied to Hopeful in Maine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sknynky - thanks for your words of support! I don't have a recliner but I have found some special pillows for support to help through those first few nights! thebandedgirl- three years was my process. I met the surgeon last year but wanted to try one last time to do it on my own. Something tells me I'll eventually wish I had done it earlier! Special K - CONGRATS!!! 118 lbs gone - amazing! I do feel I am making the right choice by keeping it private and your words have helped a lot. I do think there will come a time when I will be able to opening discuss with those that I think will be supportive. To all 3 of you...I'm on day 3 of my 14 day pre-op and besides feeling a bit tired...I'm feeling great!!!!!!! Thanks again for your support -

I am due to be banded on August 25th. The protien shake that I like and actually have been drinking prior is Carnation SF Instant Breakfast with skim milk. I have also purchased Unjury and another type from Bariatric Eating.com to try. I'll keep you posted as I start my pre-op 2 weeks on Tuesday. -
