Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.

one can really get lost on this website....very nice to meet everyone, looking forward to sharing. have dr's appt again tomorrow. have not located policy but hoping to speak w/a rep from anthem regarding coverage. i really have to do something and soon i simply cannot function. missing work, unable to sleep, barf everything but liquid. i did lose 53 lbs but gained most of it back and i am just so sick of everything that you ladies are all very familiar with. i am not sure the band is good for anyone. i got it thinking it was going to be a lifetime friend. expensive joke it was!!

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.

Hello All, I was invited here by MacMadame, (thx again) i have a band placed in mx 3 yrs ago on my dime bc my ins would not approve band but would rny. recently diagnosed w/esophagitis, and gastritis i am living on ice cream to put out the fire while drinking iced maalox all day. when i was still eating real food i would wake up choking on burning undigested food hours after the meal. the band is coming out. i have to make a decision on what's next. the dr who did my endoscopy recommended the sleeve. many of you seem to really like your sleeve. ALSO, since my initial surgery took place in mx i'm not sure my ins - anthem bcbs of Louisville will cover a revision. does anyone have this ins or same situation? i've read pages of posts and haven't seen anyone sharing about this ins w/mx band and us dr doing the revision. thx for any and all comments/suggestions.
  3. ok, i'll share my 'experience'. banded (filled to 3.9 in 5cc band) in mx three years ago on my dime of course bc my ins refused to cover the band but would cover rny. having 100 lbs to lose and only down 20 with severe esophagitis, gastritis. my throat is always on fire, tho drinking maalox on ice daily. meeting w/a surgeon mon. to discuss removal. am willing to do rny at this point but maybe there's something better? some of you really like your sleeve. can anyone help me make a decision? thanks

Goodmorning fellow Maysters!! Has anyone has in their opinion reached perfect restriction? Restriction w/consistent loss. I'm getting frustrated, admitting that patience is a lifelong lesson for me. Having a recent and first fill of 2.9cc (5cm band) that worked great for a couple of weeks, I feel very little restriction now just in the morning. That is all I had just after banding. Is this what fills are like? Was that restriction just from swelling? Veterans and newbies- ALL opinions/info is appreciated.:help:

Greetings Mayster Crew, Welcome gjray! Just post away... Hey Christy, I was banded the week after you, glad to see your back, thanks for the fill pics and info. I was away for my 1st fill the same time you were. I almost wish I opted for the "other" surgery. It wasn't that bad really so I don't want to scare anyone. I found the whole thing a pain. The lidocaine, then 2.5, 2.7 then 2.9cc fill in my 5cm Inamed. My Dr. was great, hit it first time, everytime. Knowing I'm in for a lifetime (if I'm lucky:tired) of this unpleasant drill is more than I can think about right now. Oh well, I know some of you had to endure techs/nurses that could not hit the broad side of a barn, I was spared that! Congrats Linda on the closet cleaning, that feels great. Still in my fat jeans-18, but they are very loose, since they are wearing thin I think I'd like to torch them when the time is right... that has always been my thing when I move on.... Holding a good thought for you Diana....

    Aggressive Fills

thanks Poodles, so i guess i'm as tight as it's going to get this fill. hot tea or coffee helps loosen me up too so i can have breakfast/lunch w/o chest pain. is that a pic of your baby? Very cute! I have a chocolate lab and a boxer mix -both rescue treasures.

Greetings! Just checking in, I am back from Monterrey for a week now. My 1st fill is 2.9cc, I've been reading alot on fills and so far haven't found anyone with a first fill of 2.9cc. I know it sounds like alot for my 5cc Inamed but I can still eat everything, just very little of it. I feel restriction finally! Dr. filled my band to 2.5, nothing, 2.7 still nothing but went to the hotel to rest and sip water/juice. Next morning I drank 2 cups of herbal tea and ate a fruit and cereal bar for breakfast, when Dr. heard this my fill was tweaked to 2.9cc and thank God I felt a pause when I swallowed. :nervous So I frothed a couple of days but kept down all liquid diet and complied with the 5-day after-fill order. Feeling tired and do NOT see the scale moving. :paranoid I think I need a new one or maybe I'll just stay off it for a couple of weeks. Could need a synthroid adjustment I guess. I do not eat bread, pasta, potato anything, even gave up my chocolate! I'm lucky to get in just the meat and a veggie. My crime is the rare light ice cream and a tootsie roll pop (they make these with spenda now but they are tiny). Congrats to so many of you w/your Sept challenge success :clap2:keep up the good work!

    Aggressive Fills

Goodmorning, I'm new to this thread, the "aggressive fill" title captured me. I have a 5cc Inamed. My first fill was 2.5 and I felt NOTHING, then I was given .2 for a 2.7, STILL nothing. Two cups of herbal tea and a blueberry fruit & cereal bar for breakfast the next morning prompted my Dr. to increase my first fill to 2.9-OK I felt that thank God. So I frothed the next day but kept down all liquid diet and was able to fly back home. I complied with the 5-day after-fill orders. The only thing I had pain w/was dry chicken for my first solid protein after the tweak. What does "tighten up over time mean"? I hope it means I will get my $$$ worth out of this fill because I can still eat anything!

Thank you 3Loves for the warm welcome and happy belated anniversary to you and Justduckie!!:biggrin1: I haven't posted for awhile because I have been in Virginia Beach the past week caring for my daughter who just had surgery, she's fine-breast augmentation and their beautiful! My mother is an oncology patient who just finished chemo to shrink a tumor. Mom has her mastectomy/lumpectomy scheduled for next month. The stress! I'm eating everything in sight! My youngest daughter (17) is going to OZZFEST today, feeling a little anxiety there too. :nervous My first fill is the 20th. OK, it's my TOM too, feeling very bitchy and bloated!!! 3Loves-I agree, it could be from the devil at this point in our lives. I'm 44 and do NOT need this basket for anything anymore. I've had my children, done my part, ENOUGH!

Goodmorning MayBandsters! Thank you Christy for the Fitday link, very helpful. I was May1806, which is my banding date, I just found all the cool stuff and wanted to personalize my appearance a bit. So many of you have such a cheery look and I wanted to participate. I haven't lost an ounce since my last post. I rescheduled my fill for the 21st. My cast should be off by then to make my trip to MX easier thru security and customs. I am happy for all the loose clothes I'm reading about-very encouraging! I was going to be a closet bandster, (children, other family and friends have no clue, only told my husband because he might have missed me while I was in Monterrey! He, by the way is the vault for trusting with ones secrets.) but discovered this site and I love it. Enough for today-I'll post the ticker thing later.

Hello all Maysters, I accept the September challenge! Thank you for this fine thread and opportunity for encouragement in our journey to better health. I was banded by Dr. Rumbaut May 18, 2006. I also had another surgery the following week (29th) on my foot that left me in a cast, so I have not had much to share. I did have some groovy pain meds that tasted like crap since i had to disolve before taking:sick. Start physical therapy on the 13th. So...zippity doo dah, nada, zilch for excersize-just got a recent weight since the plaster, then the fiberglass casts were removed. Now I have an aircast that I can take off, that's so nice to rest my foot and let my leg breathe since the weather is getting warmer and humid. Many of you have cheery and cute tickers and such-don't know how to do this yet but I will learn. Starting weight I think-have to check w/Dr. when I go for my fill-was 250. This morning I weigh 238. Not too bad for sitting on my butt with my foot in the air! Sick to death of sugar-free fat-free pudding tho....:nervous

Hello Everyone, my name is Pamela. Banded May 18, 2006 in Monterrey, having no restriction and no clue what a pb or sliming is. I don't know how much I've lost, as I am in a cast and on crutches which will make my trek to MX for my first fill July 7th another adventure. Here's hoping for a huge fill so I can feel "full", this would help as the excersize thing is on the backburner. I love Coyotegirl's yellow person on crutches-that's me!
