today I have a new friend and soulmate. She is not always aware of what is right or good for her. I am going to be her guide and alta ego fom now on. When she tries to make the wrong decision I will be there to steer her away from her error. I will love and protect her as a mother loves and protects her errant child. Through good and bad times I will be steadfast in the pursuit of what is in her best interests, when she throws tantrums and demands the wrong things I will kindy let her know that this is not acceptable. I will shroud her in warmth and affection and give her the attention she needs not the bad things she craves. Only the best will be good enough for her, nothing less will do. She will be as a godess to be served, but in the most correct of ways to be gently persuaded along the path of righteousness and of success. I will never feel disappointment or a sense of failure in her endevours, just a supreme urge to help her find her way in life to a new and successful maturity and sense of self. My new friend deserves this, this is her time, I will be there for her, I will be the new me. My band will be the tool that helps me achieve all of this

I am having my first social outing since banding on 1st May. It is a murder mystery evening and we all need to take our own food. I am on mushies. Nobody there will know I have been banded. Any suggestions for my take along food? Thank you

chubbychops replied to aris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi, Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. I had a similar thing on day 6 after banding, I saw my nure and she told me I had a low grade infection. A course of antibiotics sorted it out and I feel great again now on day 13! Best seek some help/advice from your medical support team Chubs X -

hi, this is a very interesting thread. I have only been fitted for 2 weeks, however my Nurse has told me I will have 2 fills in the next few months and will lose 5.5 stones before spring next year. This was very uplifting to me, and I believe her. My first fill is scheduled for 3 weeks time and my second for 7 weeks time. She has a great reputation for getting peoples fills spot on, and I really believe we will work it out together. I have lost 25 lbs including both pre and post op. I am on liquids only but I make sure they are suitable nutritionally. I know all of the work is down to me, the band will only help, not do it for me. I am 100% commited to the whole thing, I expect to struggle at times. I will succeed! Chubby ps she advised me not to weigh myself between visits to see her -
omg, quintessentially English, (watch out Stephen Fry) love you, please keep blogging.

hi, can I just ask what are egg beaters? thanx chubby -
hi bandsters, I had my band fitted a week ago. In the UK it is unusual to get funding on the health service unless you have other health problems. Luckily I am just fat lol. Therefore I self funded and was seen and done with in a matter of weeks, so far so good. I have to follow a liquids only diet fo 3 weeks and then I can commmence the mushy food phase. I have an appt on the 7th May for my first fill under x-ray. So far I have lost 10 kilos since seeing the surgeon. I feel very sore and a bit low in mood if I am honest but from what I read this is fairly typical and should eaze over the next few weeks. I am loving reading everybodies stories and getting all of the hints and tips. This site is great! My very best wishes to us all in this horrible fat war. Chubby

hello, I am newbie in the UK

Hello Joanne, I was banded at dolan Park on 5/4/09 by Mr Sarela. He was very good, he even visited me at 6am the next day to see how I was before allowing me home, he gave me a good examination and declared me fit to travel. I got an appt before my discharge for my first fill on 7/5/09 in Manchester under x-ray. I got a phone call from the hospital group on Wednesday asking how I was and got a few tips re wounds, analgesia and wind. All in all I have no complaints at all. I have elected to buy my aftercare from the WLS group as they have an excellant reputation. I had my first appt with Nurse Wendy on Thursday. She really sorted my out, checked my dressings and removed them as I was having an allergic reaction to them and my skin was all blistered. She told me I had a temperature and low grade chest infection and advised antibiotics for 5 days which have really helped to get me back to normal and think I will be seeing her once a month in Newcastle which is the nearest satellite clinic to where I live. 2 years aftercare with all fills included costs £999. Not cheap but I am going for quality rather than price, as I have heard that the after care is probably more important than the op itself. Get onto your surgeon if you are not happy and try to find out what is happening. Best of luck Chubby -
hi banded april 5th, good luck to all april bandsters!

great to see so many Brits on here too. I live in Durham, was banded at the hospital group Dolan Park Hospital, Birmingham. They took good care of me and my surgeon, Mr Sarela was a real gentleman. I am having my aftercare with the weight loss surgery group, because they had outstanding feedback on the uk forums. Roll on 7th May and my first fill Chubby X
