Since I've been one who has told most everyone about my surgery, I usually respond to compliments with something like, "I was so fortunate to have this procedure." Well, today as I was walking down the hall, a colleague passed me and said again how amazed she was with my transformation. She asked me how I was continuing to do it and of course I mentioned the surgery. She replied with the fact she knows about the surgery, but many people have surgery and do not succeed. It made me stop and realize that I have worked this tool and I'm proud of that. While I am definitely not perfect, I make decisions daily about food and exercise to make this a lifestyle and not just a temporary thing. Now I still feel that the sleeve is mostly responsible for my success, but am starting to feel that I played a big role and can be proud too.

That is such a transformation...good job! And just so you know, my thighs and droopy butt were/are the worst part of my body, but they have been SLOWLY getting better (not great yet) over the past month or so. So there is hope there too. -
Considering the sleeve and assisted reproduction
deedee replied to alreadychosen's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I wish you luck on making this decision. I cannot even imagine the emotions you are dealing with after 8 years of this, but in the end successfully getting pregnant was the driving force behind me having wls. My husband and I had been trying for a couple of years and I had one surgery to remove fibroids. The month before we were supposed to go back to the RE after recovering from the fibroid surgery, my husband had a heart to heart with me about his concerns regarding my weight and getting pregnant. I had the surgery in August and made my goal weight about 6 months post-op. I continued to lose for another month after making goal, but have now been stable for a couple of months. I, and my surgeon, would have been okay with me getting pregnant once reaching goal and being stable. Good luck with this decision! -
Wow! You look remarkable. Love the white pants too! I want to thank you for all the support you've provided...my journey would not be near as successful without you along for the ride. I wish all of your dreams and goals for this next year come true!

Lynn, I just want to say welcome...just read a bit of your story. While I didn't have the band first, from all the revisions I've read about, everyone is much happier with the sleeve. I also want to reiterate what you already know...you are not a failure, you lost 90 pounds and then the band had problems, not you! Good luck with this process!

You're getting so close...good luck with the rest of the liquid diet!

Congratulations! I had a similar attitude about my goal weight in the beginning...I just had no idea. Great job on the scale thing, I'm always amazed with that kind of willpower. With your great attitude, you're going to continue to rock that sleeve...good job!!!

Help, considering surgery, scared. Need some knowledge from "friends".

What would you like to know? A lot of people share their journeys both here in the blogs and in the main forums so you may want to start there--lots of very happy/satisfied people with their sleeves. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. I wish you luck! -
Welcome! This really is a great place...keep us posted on your process.

I wish you luck on your journey! I had my surgery back in August of 2009, and this has been one of the best things I've ever done. Please let us know if you have any questions and keep us posted on how you're doing.

Are you exercising a lot? I find that when I'm doing a lot of exercise I tend to eat more. If you feel that you are snacking too much, maybe try to eliminate carbs?? I'd definitely follow Tiff's suggestion and keep a food diary (either on a free site or paper) to get an idea of how you could change things up. On a side note, around 3 or 4 months out, I noticed a much slower weight loss, but I still continued to lose. Based on what I read, I seem to eat a bit more than many. Good luck!

I got cleared at 4 weeks out. He said to listen to my body regarding abdominal work and weights.

Finally had my blood work done this past week (had the order for the last 2 months, but I really hate needles) and the surgeon called to go over my results. I thought things would be much worse because I haven't been as good about taking my vitamins for the last month or so, but all my levels were normal except for Vitamin D. Last time (November 09) my iron was a little low, bad cholesterol was high, vitamin d was high, and b12 was high. Now my vitamin d was too low (22), but still higher than last summer (18) before surgery. As of today, I am recommitting to taking my vitamins daily. Still love this tool and am continue to happily maintain between 138-140 lbs.
