I'd call your doctor and ask. I think I waited 3 months before swallowing pills based on my doctor's recommendation about a specific pill I asked it I could take. He may have okayed another pill earlier though.

I agree with MlkPas. I remember mentioning wls to a boyfriend about 6 years ago and surprisingly he was very supportive of the idea and wanted me to look into it. I wasn't really thinking of it for me at the time, I don't remember how it came up. But over this past year, I've thought a bit about that conversation and realize that if he would have pushed me to look into it more, it probably would have turned me off because I just wasn't ready. Now, if you ever have the opportunity to socialize with these people, maybe you could share your experience with the vsg, but not in a "preachy/pushy" way for them to look into, just in a "sharing about yourself/getting to know each other" way. If they hear about it and are ready, then you've been able to plant a seed. Just my opinion and probably what I would do.

Yay Sury! That is one of my favorite victories AND knowing I'm out of them forever:biggrin0:

It seemed my stall broke this week so I started weighing myself again everyday and this morning I am 199.5!!!! I am so excited! This was my first mini-goal and I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I know it's not much different than I weighed yesterday, but it just feels so great to be under 200 lbs.

Did anyone buy skinny clothes before they lost?
deedee replied to Stacie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I continuously bought clothes before they fit as a "goal" dress or outfit. I only did this when they were on serious clearance, but I will say that I'm now kicking myself because I never thought I'd get this size (I've never been below a size 12/14 so didn't know what size my goal weight would correlate to). I am still happy I bought the "goal" dresses because it made me so happy when I finally fit into them. I will now have to have them altered and sort of wish I would have bought a couple sizes smaller when it was like 60% off because now I need to buy a couple of new dresses for my upcoming vacation and will need to pay full price. I'd say go for it! -
Tiff gave you awesome questions to ask, but you'll also want to find out from the office who you need to contact at the hospital to discuss the fees and coverage from their side. From my experience, the hospital thing is where it got ridiculously confusing. I wanted/needed things spelled out in writing and you'd have thought no one have ever asked that before. Good luck!

Had my pre-op appt. today...
deedee replied to LyndaRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post-op program didn't say much about carbs except to keep them low. It did state things I should not eat initially and later on during the losing phase, but because the pre-op diet they had me on limited my carbs to 30 per day or less, that's what I continued in my initial post-op diet. I was only on clear liquids for 2 days and then full liquids for like 2 weeks. I then progressed to soft/mushy food that I stayed on for another month I believe. I'd second/third people's suggestion to talk with your surgeon/nutritionist. Ask your questions and get clarification until you're content with your plan (even if it deviates from their recommendations). I just feel that it's nice to have input from the professionals to help us make the best decisions as possible. As for the weight loss rate, it's so hard to guess these things before hand. I tended to be very conservative with my estimates so that I wouldn't be disappointed with the loss. This kept me from getting too disappointed and set myself up for failure. BUT, you know yourself best, and maybe this kind of thing wouldn't bother you too much. Good luck! -
CONGRATULATIONS, I'm so happy you have your date! I like to keep things to a minimum, I think I brought a comb, lotion and chapstick, a comfy dress to wear home. Good luck!!!

Congratulations on your date...the time will be here before you know it!

I started feeling like I could eat more "normally" around 2 months out (I think) and by 3 months post-op I definitely didn't have the dread/fear before eating. I remember reading posts from people further out (when I was in the immediate post-op stage) saying that this time was such a small part of the journey and I felt like it would never end, but it really does. And now, it's hard for me to remember the specifics of that time period (and I'm not that far out) because it really is just a temporary part of the journey that does pass. Good luck and hang in there!

Welcome Kim! I think many of us started looking into getting the band. I'm so happy that I began reading and learning about vsg...it's been one of the best things I've done for myself and I hope you'll feel the same. Please feel free to ask any questions you have along the way. There are many knowledgeable people here who love to share their experiences. Good luck!

deedee replied to alegna242's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems like you have a very good outlook on this loss and life. -
I know many people report to having very little pain and pretty much feel normal quickly, but that wasn't my experience either. I'm glad to hear the fever is gone and good luck on the rest of you're recovery...it really does get better.
-
Tiff, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.
-
You can and will definitely do this! Congratulations so far.

Great news! Yeah, I've been having the blood pressure issues as well...although the last two days it's been better.

Today I weighed 147.5 lbs. That is up 0.5 a pound from last Monday, but I will say I enjoyed my beef teriyaki each day I was home in Washington State last week, which was not so wls appropriate:-) I'm taking one more night off of exercise today because I got really sick over the weekend and am still just so tired. That means my exercise routine has dropped from 5-7 days each week, to 2 days a week for the last 3 weeks...oh well. I hope everyone else had a good week.
