  1. Hello all, just wanted to give an update. My doctor actually released me after my post op visit to try to conceive, after all this is the reason I had the surgery. I did see my surgeon and he gave me 1 cc of Fluid and said congrats, I will see you after the baby is born. I spoke with my OB and she if fine with the fluid level and just asked me to eat as many of the 1800 calories required a day. I am eating several small meals a day and have only gained 2 lbs. Both surgeon and OB are happy as well as I am. thanks for all your advice.
  2. Ok. Well I'm very new to the lap band and was (am) scheduled for my second fill on Monday, June 15th. I just found out today that I am pregnant. (We have been trying and are SO excited). I guess losing those 18.5 lbs really did work after all. Although I didn't believe them when they told me it could. My question is, what's the likelyhood of my doctor pulling all the Fluid out of my band when I go in on Monday. I would really like to lose some additional weight before I start gaining it back. I am super scared to gain a ton of weight will I'm pregnant even though I know they can put the fluid back and I will eventually lose the weight again. Its really the thought of having to lose the same weight twice that gets me. Any suggestions on what I should or should not be doing would be great. This is my first pregnance.

    Tired of it!!

I also had my surgery on May 1, 2009 and am down 18.5 lbs but what I've noticed is that EVERYONE (and I do mean everyone) has an opinion. And for whatever reason they all feel inclined to share it. I had to tell my mother-in-law to speak only to her child (my husband) about my surgery. That way he got to field all the stupid questions and comments. The funny part is....within two days he told her to mind her own business and no wonder I was complaining about her driving me crazy. She didn't call us for a week and man it has never been so quite around here. It was a nice break, too bad its over now. :smile2:
  4. I was banded on May 1st and hit my first plateau on May 11th. I was sssssooooooo disappointed. But the good news is, after three weeks of a plateau, I finally started losing again. I lost 6 lbs last week. I read on another post that you should concentrate on your Water and Protein and boy did it make a difference. I was very sincere about documenting my food and water intake making sure to get between 60 and 80 grams of protein everyday. I noticed that I was eating more calories by watching the protein but the weight just flew right off. That's my new plan, FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS on protein and water. To date I have lost 18.5 lbs and can't wait to weight again soon. Good luck to all.

    Banded and Bummed :(

Hello. They don't call it BANDSTER HELL for no reason. We all hit those uncomfortable times that we are either not losing or we have hit a plateau. You mentioned you gained weight while on the Protein shakes while you were exercising. My doctor told me NOT to exercise while on those shakes for that reason. All that protein will make you gain muscle which, as we all know, weighs more than fat. Something they may help you as it did me is to make a list of all the reason why you did this in the first place. Every couple of weeks I go back to that list and am quite amazed each time at the "pick me up" it gives. I actually made my list before doing the surgery and I can't be more glad that I did it. Good luck to you. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! We support you.

    Looking for answers

Hello. I had the same incisions and yes the 2.5 to 3 inch incision was my port site. My site was extremely sore as well and was the last little bit of pain to go away. It lasted for a couple of weeks and then when I started going to the gym I could really feel it when I pulled that section too much. My doc told me to stay away from any activity or action that caused a pulling sensation or anything that I felt was uncomfortable. He said give it time to heal and it will.

    realize my success

I had my surgery on May 1st and started using the site as of June 1st. IT's FANTASTIC. I like that I can log all my food and my workouts and it will give me the break down of food eaten vs. calories used. I also like that it counts protein for me so I always get the right amount. I love the My Pics and the New Me. I choose my starting weight and my current weight with their diagram and even though I've only lost 18.5 lbs. I can really see the difference.
  8. I think we all experience that. I had my surgery on May 1st and had my first fill on May 28th. My doctor laughed at me when I went in because I was so upset about losing only 14 lbs. He said there is an unbelieveable amount of people that stop losing weight altogther or gain back some of their weight once they get to pureed or soft foods. He also told me some people don't lose any weight (at all) from the time of their surgery to their first fill. Hope this helps.
  9. Hello all, I was banded on May 1, 2009 and have already hit a plateau!!! I lost 8.8 lbs between April 21st and May 7th (liquid diet to post op appt) and then 3.3 more lbs between the 7th and the 11th but haven't lost a single ounce since May 11th. Its been 15 days and nothing. I am eating between 800 and 1000 calories a day and working off 300 - 400 of those calories off at the gym. I don't understand this at all. Two days before my surgery I seriously considered cancelling because I just didn't see it working for me, after all, nothing else has. Now I'm wondering if I did the right thing? Maybe its not going to work for me. Did anyone else have this kind of trouble?? Am I just expecting too much at this point?? My first fill is on 05/28/09, will that help me get past this plateau?? Please share any advice or encouragment.
  10. I got my first fill yesterday and feel no restriction at all. I'm on liquids for the rest of today and start soft foods again tomorrow followed by solid foods on Sunday. I'm hoping to feel restricted. My doc did tell me I could come back in two weeks if I don't feel restricted, so that's good news. I magically woke up this morning and was 2 lbs lighter so maybe my weight loss is finally kicking in again.
  11. Hello MSan, I just wanted to say good luck with your doctors advice. My doctors office told me the exact opposite. They told me I'm not eating enough and that's why I hit a plateau. They want me to bump up my calories to 1200 - 1300 a day. I don't know that I'm going to do that but I am going to the gym 5 days a week.

  12. Thanks everyone for all your support and words of encouragement. My first fill is tomorrow and I'm excited to talk with the doctor and see what advice he can give. I am trying to keep positive but finding it hard. My sister made a comment to me yesterday that really just set my mind back in motion and took my body with it. She said, "Well at this rate I was right, you will never be thinner than me". She's always been the thin one and has recently gained about 25 lbs putting her at 155. Its comments like that that just make me want to be 154!!! How can people be sooooo RUDE??
