What are you eating each day?

I just went in for my second fill yesterday, at about 5cc's out of 10. I spoke with the Dr about eating and calorie intake. I was not sure as to what my guidelines were. He told me if I am hungry, I should eat something. I was trying to stay around 1200 calories everyday and he also informed that that was wrong too. I have about 80 lbs to lose, and burn about 500 a day at the gym. He informed me that 1200 calories is not enough calories for me to continue to lose. He mentioned this is a lifestyle, not a diet, and I'm not going to live my life everyday counting calories in everything that goes in my mouth, but to just make smart choices. I beleive everyones Dr is different, I just found that interesting. I was banded July 20th and have lost about 30lbs since then. I am a bit sketchy myself in what he told me about counting calories so you may want to ask your surgeon as well.. Good luck to you all

    down to 151!!

Wow! you look amazing! look at your hott legs! Good work girl!! You have to feel amazing!
  8. Yep I am in the same exact boat you are! I wanted to keep this a secret from most of my extended family-as they are very judgemenal, plus I'm not close to them so didn't feel they deserved to know. I told ONE aunt I am close to and surprise! My grandma's blowing up my moms phone about it!! While they are for the most part supportive-they say things like "Good for her! as long as she doesn't blow it!"..those are the things I would give my left arm not to hear. It just burns me up like I'm trying to do right by this-yet still the negativity. I also was at lunch with the same aunt, she was talking about a women who lost a bunch of weight and my mom asked how and if she suspected surgery. My aunt responds with "Oh no shes not THAT big!" right in front of me Needless to say..I cleared my throat rather loud at that point. Like I'm sitting right here and I just had surgery 6 weeks ago! Back it up dude. I am in the same boat as you-I have my first fill tomorrow and as for right now am just trying to stay within my calories and biking 7 miles a day. Hang in there girl-I'm right there w/ ya! We are better then that and don't have to worry about others and what they eat to take those sort of comments personaly. Keep your head up and good luck!
  9. I was banded 7-20-09 and I am 24. My surgery went well only had about 5-7 days where I fealt different. I took 2 weeks off of work and the second week I was getting back to normal activities. I am down about 22 lbs so far. So far I haven't had trouble with nausea or anything getting stuck. I do not have any regrets right now-I am in what they call "bandster hell" meaning I do not have a fill yet so my restriction I was having from the surgery and everything being swollen is fading and I am able to eat more. I work out about 4-6 days a week 20 min on treadmill, 20 on eliptical and some days another 20 on a bike. My I am looking to lose about another 80 lbs and I have no doubt in my mind I can and will lose it. I just have to remember to be patient I hope that answered some of your questions!

    Eating ALL THE TIME

Yayyyy Im not the only one!! I was banded July 20th and do not have my first fill untill August 27th. I do not eat as much as I did prior to surgery, but I am eating significantly more than I was my first two weeks. I dropped about 24 lbs and it has stopped since I started on soft foods. I no joke-lay awake at night beating myself up over it. I am eating healthy food and topping off around 800 calories a day, but I still feel bad about it. I have never had anything stuck, nor feel nautious after eating. I do not drink with my meals and Im not STARVING-but I know I eat more than 1/2 -1 cup of food at dinner. I can't wait for my fill and feel much better in that I'm not the only one feeling this way! Good luck to you all! We can do this

    What about Alcohol???

I also deal with this as I am young too. I just this weekend tried wine, and vodka cranberry. I found really great crandberry juice called cranergy. It only has 35 calories as apposed to 120 normal cranberry juice has. I seemed to do ok, but I was also a bit nervous to get too drunk since..I'm a barfer lol I wouldn't want to throw up because of alcohol after all of this! Good luck!
  12. I have United Healthcare and once they had received my paperwork it took them 5 days to approve me. How long it takes for your Dr. to write the letter and send it all off depends on your doctor. I had my Dr's letters, my 5 yr weight history and all my medical records ready the day of my consult. I also had to have a phsyc evaluation (program requires it) So that had to be done with his paperwork attached before they sent to insurance. I had my consult end of April, and was banded in July so about 2 mos from the very start of all this. However it wasn't insurance that took so long. I thought UHC was very fast and easy to work with. Good luck!! :wink2:
  13. We may have different plans but I was told by my surgeon up front my insurance company (UHC) requires you to stay overnight. I was banded July 20th,( 2 1/2 weeks ago) and my surgeon kept apologizing to me that day that I was not able to be discharged. My surgery was scheduled for an hour to an hr and 45 min. My surgery was done in 20 min because "everything was text book perfect" So I don't believe I was facing any complications. UHC is refusing to pay my surgeon on five cases because the patients were let go that day. All I am suggesting is that if you have UHC, you will want to double check all of those things, so you are not thrown with a surprise at the end of all of this. This should after all be a great experience, not a stressfull one.
  14. Hey girl! How ya feeling??

  15. jr64044

    I was just banded today!

My gas pains set in about 4 days later. The only thing I found to be helpful is to walk and lift your left arm up and bend your arm over your head (Heard to explain but kind of like if you were to scratch your right shoulder blade? I don't know if that makes any sense but I had the pains that would literally make me shiver and that seemed to help me alot! Good luck to you all! :juggle:
  16. You are good girl :juggle: I also after having almost 2 yr stint with NO cycle just got my period a few days after surgery. It was odd I almost forgot what to do in that situation since I have not had to deal with it for two years! Between that and all the liquid I feel like a sow!!
  17. I have UHC as well and the approval was wayyy faster than I had expected! They are amazing to work with! The approved 100% of mine within 5 days. They also assigned a case worked to my account who is an RN and she calls just to check up on me. Just an FYI that I was not aware of untill a week prior to surgery is that UHC requires you to stay overnight at the hospital, no matter what. My surgeon has patients who were not aware of that and were sent home hours after surgery, and now UHC is refusing to pay for the surgery as they were not held overnight. Just a little something you may want to make sure to check on, You'd hate to be thrown a massive bill after all of that. My surgery was July 20th and I love my band! Good luck to you and pack your jammie pants :juggle:
  18. I'm doing great!!! oh my! sounds like you had quiet a surgery experience! I'm glad you are feeling better though! Def day 3 was my worst day so I'm glad you are almost passed that! My incesions are a little sore but they are so itchy now! my regular doctor told me today my body is just ready to be rid of the staples that come out Wed! I can't wait. So have you lost alot from your 10 day diet? I started the calorie diet July 6th and as of today I'm down 21 lbs. Wooo hooo! Who knew starving yourself really does work? lol Anyway I'm glad you are home and recovering now, the worst is behind you for sure! you probably aren't losing anything as you are swollen yet, weight yourself about day 7..you'll be pleasantly surprised I'm sure! Keep it up trooper! We can do this :)

    Banded on Monday 7/20 :)

I was banded 7/20 too!!!! how exciting!! today I actually feel like myself I'm so excited! I have been sleeping for what feels like 3 days straight! How are you doing with your healing process? My surgery went super fast! I was only in surgery about 18-20 min. When they called my mom she panicked thinking something was wrong as they prepared her for an hr -45? I am so happy I did this, my incesions are still a bit sore and taking tylenol for the pain. I got staples so I imagine once those are out I will feel much better! Keep my posted on your progress  This is so exciting!!!!!!! and Good luck to you!
  20. wow!! You look great girl! Keep up the good work!!

  21. Hey! Yea surgery was super easy from what I kept hearing The dr said "It was a peice of cake" at that point, I wanted to suggest another "catch phrase" as he is..in fact a bariatric surgeon lol. I'm ok, its sore as I expected it to be but I do not have any of the "Gas pain" everyone speaks of. I'm not very hungry between the incesions and the pain pills but I do sleep alot and I think thats curtial. SoI was able to sleepin my bed today which was much better. Its only my 3rd day out but inesions look good and most of the swelling has gone down so I'm thinkin i'll be turning the corner here very soon. The surgery/recovery time right after is easy, they keep you pretty well under control in the pain dept. Best of luck to you! You will be just fine! :)

    I was just banded today!

I was banded yesterday (july 20) as well. I am uncomfortable and its hard to sit down and stand up again. But its not too bad and surprisingly I have NO gas pain at all. In the hospital I had left shoulder pain for mmm maybe an hour or so and it just went away on its own. The only thing i'm dealing with now is just the swelling where my port was placed and my incesions are a little tender. otherwise I have no problems swallowing or getting my liquids in. Just like normal! Good luck to you all!!
  23. Hey girl! You look awsome and cute clothes!! I an scheduled for Surgery tomorrow morning so I'm getting a little nervous, not bad though. Your pics are really inspiring!! I hope I do as well as you have! Keep up the good work! :)

  24. I scheduled tomorrow morning for surgery. I can really say your page is the only one that has really kept my head above water on this. Alot of posts I have been reading are about how hard it is, the negatives. While that is good to know what to expect and be reminded no one said it would be easy, to see someone who is really happy with the results and loves life this way is very encouraging. Thank you for all your inspiration. As you can see below, you have been such a inspiration to so many people. You should be so proud of yourself! I hope tomorrow goes well, Keeping my fingers crossed!

    Just a Week away...July 20th

I am to be banded tomorrow (20th) as well! Im very excited however this liquid diet has made me have a few freak outs...wondering if I can do this :wink2: I also have been going through this website for days and honestly, while some of the information is helpful, it also makes me more nervous. I know everyone is different, people heal differently at their own pace but I also wonder if all of this has created more of mental hardship for me than it really is. I read all the posts of people saying "What did I do to myself?" and "I can't move!"etct, While I think it does create realistic expectations its also a bit worry-som. I think I am just going to have to suck it up...being sleep deprived and starving makes a monster out of me Good luck to you tomorrow! It will all be worth it in the end, and I keep reminding myself as to why I signed up for this in the first place!!
