Surgery Week of August 24th?
DownInSocal replied to DownInSocal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a working step mom with two teenage types at home. They know everything. Neither their father or I know anything so I am surprised they are not ruling the world already. I live in the east county of San Diego. DH hubby and I have been married a year and together 5. He is a good guy. I am not sure how I have not run him off yet. I will be discharged sometime on Saturday. I don't think I will have any net access. I might be able to use DH phone but I don't know how it handles message boards. We have a netbook and laptop but no wireless net card or service. I already scanned the hospital for wi fi and couldn't find an open one. Learning to navigate message boards comes with time on one. I start clears in the morning too. I am more nervous about being hungry for two days than anything at this point. I have to admit my doctor was kind enough to give me Ativan for the jitters so I am medicated. Thank god for meds.... -
What a day. I think I am ready!!! I got everything done that I wanted and had a fantastic last meal of my famous homade mac and cheese tonight. I thought I would stuff myself but I didn't. It was a good feeling. I am going to miss my morning protein shake though :tongue_smilie: I am sure by the afternoon I will be missing much more. Feelings right now? I am ready. Scared because my husband will not be able to be as supportive as he thought because of some health problems as a result of non weight loss surgery but it is all good. I am strong. I can do this on my own.

:crying: :tongue_smilie: :crying:   :scared0: :crying: :sad0: Did I mention  ? *Liquid vitamins, done. *Movies uploaded, done. *I have stuff out to pack for the hospital so almost done. *I am going clears shopping today so that part is almost done. *House cleaned? I am going to get the kids on it here in a few hours. Ahhh slave labor so I will count that as almost done. *Ahhkkk I need new books. Add that to the list. *Before pictures, added to the list. I want to do that tonight before I start clears. I better get busy. Will post more later.

Oh my. As your husband said you ae doing something about it now. I think you can only look forward. Staying positive as much as possible was the only way I could make it through all the testing. Your levels of vitamin B could be fixed right away I would think. Oral or subcut (shot) suppliments should fix you right up. The metabolic syndrome will go away when I lose I weight from what I have read about it. Other than the triglyceride problems I had all the other factors and no one said a word about having it to me. Keep us updated on your heart. This will be the biggest factor I bet in getting a surgery date. Good luck.

WOW. I would love to see pics if you felt ok with it. Cut off your head in the pics if you want! I think they would be a terrific inspiration to everyone coming after you. I can't wait to wear a size six. This is my goal. Ohh if you don't mind me asking how tall are you and how much do you weigh now? It has been so long since I have been in small sizes I have no idea what size I might end up when I reach my goal. -
My surgeon is also not keen on caffeine intake. He feels it contributes to grazing. I quit caffeine several months before my consultation. I am getting more and more sensitive to it the older i get. I got a huge heart pounding rush from a cup of coffee and then crashed if I didn't drink more. Also with high blood pressure I had no business IMHO drinking something that raises my blood pressure. I went through withdrawls, they were not anywhere close to withdrawing from ciggys. The nice thing about not drinking caffeine on a regular basis is if I need to be up later and wide awake I can drink a half cup and be good to go.

Why I chose the Sleeve--better late than never!

Welcome! Why don't you post your whole story in a thread for people to read. It sounds like you have a lot to tell people who might be thinking of the band. -
That sounds good. I am going to go check out the cookbook today.

I have 6 days left until surgery and I have not done everything I wanted/needed to do. I am a slacker. My husband was also briefly in the hospital so I get a few points but still. I wanted to clean my house top to bottom. Something about recouping in a clean house appeals to me. Maybe I can get this done this weekend. I wanted to finish transfering a bunch of my movies to my iTouch so I have many to watch in the hospital. I have slacked on this. I best get busy tonight burning and transfering. I don't have my liquid vitamins. :tongue_smilie: GNC is a stop for me tonight. I also have not done my clear liquids grocery shopping and I clears on Monday. I am not packed for the 3 days in the hospital. Not much packing but I should have an idea of what to take. What else? I am sure there will be all kinds of stuff I think of as I am walking out the door for surgery. I did do one thing.........it was the most important thing but also the most soul searching moment I have had since I decided to have this surgery. I updated my will.

You are such an inspiration! You look stunning. You had complications. You kept your head up and didn't complain. What a strong, sexy, independant woman you are. We should all be so lucky.

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
DownInSocal replied to attitudefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my Haley. You have had such a rough time of it. How did your esophagus get damaged during surgery? It seems like it is up there and your stomach is down there and? I want to ask a really personal question and you don't have to answer. What are you doing about work? This is one of my biggest fears. I am by no means poor but I do have a big California size mortgage and commitments. I can't be missing too many checks if I have complications. It seems trivial when you have a ostomy bag but it just adds to your stress I am sure. Feel free to vent as much as you want here. I love reading about ups, downs, sideways, backwards, forwards. I love it all. -
Have you tried the pills that are out there?

Humm. I would make notes about what needs to be unpacked first, example: Blender and cups. You don't need to unpack your whole kitchen right away because well........ you won't need it for a long time after surgery! Bathroom: Us ladies do like our bathrooms in order. Bedroom: Very important to make it as comfortable as possible for you since you might be taking naps often. Get your TV set up with DVD player or computer in there or whatever. Also a nice chair to sit upright and read in. Make sure your excersize clothes and comfy clothes are handy along with work clothes depending on when you are going back. Next: Living Room. TV, DVDs, a place to read. Nicknacks can wait. Decorating can wait. Now if you do all the must does first you can putter around if you have extra time and put stuff away but you are ready and able to take care of yourself right after surgery without having to move and lift boxes which you CAN NOT DO under any circumstances after surgery. -
He probably can't hear you, listening to his new iPod and all.......:001_rolleyes:

Yell at a bag boy and kick a puppy (if you see one). That is sure to make anyone feel better. -
do you FEEL like you have to pee
DownInSocal replied to roseyandmusic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rosey.......get with your PCP. Simple urine test to see if you have one will give you (and me) a whole lot of peace of mind. My sister ignored symtoms of a bladder infection and ended up in the hospital with an infection in her kidneys. She was really, and I mean REALLY sick and she didn't just have major surgery like you did. It took her weeks to recover. She could have died. Call your doctor, please? -
