Is there anyone from Long Island, New York? I would love to talk to people in the same area and maybe setup a support group. Let me know!!
-
I am 11 months in and have only lost 56 pounds. I feel like I should have lost so much more. I started out at 320 and am now down to 264. I feel like I eat too much for someone with a band, but everytime I go in for a fill I end up choking on every little thing. Not sure what to do? What does everyones diet consist of and how much?
-
Writeonamber you have lost nearly 120 pounds in less then a year that is amazing. How can I not be disappointed in myself in losing only 56 pounds in 11 months. I didn't know that you lose some fill after air travel. Is that true?

I am thinking about going up to the next meeting which is held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month up at North Shore. Let me know if you are interested. My name is Julie by the way.

Does anyone here go to the support groups in North Shore Hospital and are they helpful?

I had surgery in May and am having some discomfort and pain in near and surrounding my port. I am def eating more then 1cup of food at a meal. I have 3.5cc in the band. I have things get stuck alot and ten to burp from it a tremendous amount. Should I be worried? -
I had my second fill today, but only .5cc. Always nerve racking. So not I have a total of 3.5cc in. How about everyone else?

I am from Merrick. Just an informal group so we can discuss what we are going through and compare notes and things like that.
-
Would anyone else be interested in meeting and creating a support group so we can share information and recipes and all that good stuff?
-
I agree thats why I am trying to get this together. Family and friends dont get what we are going through.
-
Im still interested in forming a Long Island group so we can all share our experiences and learn from one another. Anyone else interested?

Hi Sal- I used Dr. Reiner who operates out of Syosset. I was pleased with him, but do not know much about the other docs. Do some research. Everyone seems to be pleased with Dr. Geiss. I have Oxford insurance and I had a copayment of $500 for the surgery.

Do any of the Long Islanders feel up to having a gathering or something. Maybe all meet up for a walk at the beach or drinks or something?
-
hows everyone doing that has been banded so far? I was banded on May 14th and I am down 34 pounds after 1 fill. I am waiting for my second fill to help speed up the weight loss cause I am not getting full yet.

Its good to see that we have some people from LI on here.

Cool. I got banded on May 14th by Dr. Reiner at North Shore in Syosset. Feel free to email me anytime.

So I know that I am not supposed to drink any fluids when eating my meals. I dont know why (can anyone shed any light on why). I have been away on vacation and when you are away you tend to snack. Can you drink fluids when snacking? I know its not healthy to snack, but I am going to live my life on vacation and back to dieting when I get home. I also got my first fill before going away and I feel no restriction. When can you can the next fill?

So I had my first fill yesterday. I thought it was going to hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I made it to be. The doctor put 5cc in, but when I started to drink Water I was having chest pains and he took 2cc out. It didn't help though that the doctor was in a foul mood and really didnt answer any of my questions. So i am here. I know that I have to be on a liquid diet for 3 days, but whats after that? Can I start my regular diet or do I go soft then regular food again? Help!!

Ok so this post has totally freaked me out!! I have extremely thin hair to start with and I had the surgery almost 2 months ago. Any hair loss would be devastating. I had my first fill yesterday. What is biotin? -
A little worried I guess......

I had my surgery May 15th and I dont get filled till this week. You have nothing in the band restricting you right now so you are gonna get fuller faster. However after the liquid diet you should be feeling a lil fuller faster because your body isnt used to consuming that much food anymore. -
I wore a underwire bra the second week after the surgery when I returned to work. I ended up putting some padded gaws unter my left boob to lessen the pain. I did that for 2 days and then i was fine. It will go away.

So I had my surgery on May 15th and I lost 32 pounds to date. BUT I havent dropped another pound since I started eating again. I am eating extremely healthy. oatmeal in the morning, tuna at lunch and either fish or turkey with a veggie at dinner. I know I am slacking on the Water. I drink 1-2 per day. I have my first fill this coming Tuesday. I am very nervous. What should I expect? Does it hurt (I am a big baby)? Is there a special diet I follor before and after the fill? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
