Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Glad you have posted. Sometimes it does us good to get all the down feelings off our chests. I don't know to many people who would think 45 lbs was not a HUGE success. It is hard not to compare ourselves with other people. Especially when they are doing so good. I have down in the dumps moments too. For the most part, I stay focused on all the victories I have had. Many are the NSV! I've lost 40 lbs since my surgery and feel proud of those lbs. For me, I didn't have the drive to loose the weight on my own this time, so I got the band to help insure that I wouldn't see those lbs again. Do you have a decent level of restricion? If not go for a fill. I log what I eat daily on a different support board I belong to. I've joined a walker tracker program and am involved in a challege. All of these things are very positive for me. I could easily focus on the short fall of the band with the expectations I had, instead I choose to look at all the changes and postives that have come out of getting banded. For me feeling better and getting healthy is the key. I am not in a race. This WLS is known for a 1-2 lbs a week loss. Hang in there. Staying plugged into a good support group is key for me. I've been going in monthly for check ups at my surgeons office. I post and read on the OCC forum and cruise this one. Think about all the good that has come from being banded, I am sure your list is a long one! -

Hey B_G - I wanted to let you know that I posted a link to your blog on the lapbandforum. It is another forum. I am a member there and thought I would turn some fellow bansters on to you Goal Limbo post. ~MyNewLife~ suggested it. She is full of great ideas! LOL Anyway, I wanted to let you know we are pimping you out. Ha!

I just threw up. Not PB’d but the full deal. My stomach rolled and my brussel sprouts and tine bits of turkey reappeared. I actually had 3 stomach rolling episodes. Now I am concerned. Normally if I have an “operator error” I PB, at which time I lean over, open my mouth and a glob of slim reappears with food particles. That is what it is like for me when I PB. This was not a like that at all, I had 3 full heaves. I apologize for being graphic here. What strikes me as odd is the full meal did not come up. My lunch was a turkey burger patty. I had eaten ¼ of the patty. I prepared 5 brussel sprouts and had consumed 2 at most. While eating I was listening to my body, and before this episode, I had stopped eating. Put the remaining lunch I had left in a container. I plan to have liquids the rest of the day. My stomach does not feel sore. I don’t feel the full satisfied feeling either….guess I am baffled as to why I tossed my Cookies. TMI – since I eat lunch as my desk I tossed the cookies in a Water bottle. Because I am a gross person, I looked the contents over good. Bits! Small tiny bits I tell you! I don’t understand it? It’s not like I was chewing away and swallowed prematurely. Anyone have this sort of episode happen to them? On a side note, I am ill with a sinus cold or virus. Could this have anything to do with it?

I understand what you mean, I had a business lunch the other day and got stuck....fun. We are going home over the holidays and this will be the first time I will see some of my family since being banded....I am a bit nervous as to how they will take my portion size and GOD I hope I don't have to excuse myself to PB. If I do, however I hope I can make it funny! Phew, thank goodness! LOL Just kidding with you a bit. I've been fortunate to have time to make it to the bathroom too. Although when I am at home, I normally use the kitchen sick.....ewwhh I know but it's the truth. Welcome John and glad I we can all be of service. No but seriously it's nice to hear that you didn't leave the thread thinking....OMG....Way TMI!!!! YOu are so funny! I love your profile piccy btw! Very nice! Hard work has paid off! Did you have work done?

Wow! I guess I should consider myself lucky to be able to have an easy PB then huh! Thanks for sharing. I would want to sink into the floor if i had a PB episode in front of peeps. I suppose it is yet to come. I have been able to excuse myself and make it to the restroom or outside.

I am doing pretty good. I lost under a pound this week, but I've eaten out 1 meal a day all week. That pulls you down when it comes to loosing weight. At least I made semi healthy choices. I say semi cuz I am eating a cookie as I type this. When does the Doc check your band next?

I wanted to drop in and see how you are doing. Did you make it on your liquid diet.....Mainly I wanted you to know I am thinking about you.

Elizadolittle - I am happy to see you post. Living with the band is a learning process. We adjust over time and life changes. I am glad to hear you have gone in for an adjustment! Sorry to hear about your pain. I hope that it gets better and dissapears all together!

Hi Jennifer - I should say now that I think of it I am talented like that! LOL No, but really the "water bottles" are 20 oz wide mouth bottles. So it is not hard to PB into a bottle. Align mouth with bottle and vuala! Some of my bandster friends keep zip lock baggies in there purse for just such an episode. A zip lock seems harder for me to PB into.....just me.

I am actually suprised he didn't give you a small unfill. Goes to show you all surgeons are different. What is normal for the surgeons I see is a unfill and liquids. Glad you are taking his warning seriously, a band slip is not fun. Hang in there and mix up your liquids so they don't get old. Before you know it the two weeks will have gone by. Sorry to hear of your troubles, learning to adjust our eating and change our unhealthy habits is the hardest part of getting the band.

WTG!!! Glad you have in the zone! You rock! I am 243.1 this week.

I am so glad you both replied. I tell ya, I've learned so much from putting my "stuff" out there. One really does get some good feed back and pointers. BG I really didn't feel stuck, and felt like I chewed every bit to bits, but who knows. I do know for sure it was not one of those moments when you know that you swallowed to soon. So far eating with my band is going well today. Had both scambled egg and greek yogurt for breakfast. Felt very hungry and my stomach is still gurgling and growling. Something else that is odd....stepped on the scale this morning and gained....Let's hope the scale is good to me for tomorrows weigh in. Where is Ling Ling! We really need her back! -
Thanks for letting me know. I am a newer bandster so still pretty green. Sorry to hear you are not feeling the best and I hope your health returns to you soon.
