    Mayo Bandito's dates only

Band surgery scheduled for May 20!
  4. Dear Lily, Welcome to Lab Band support. I too am new to this. My surgery date is April 24. My main advice is to read everything about Lapband, and I make a list for my Dr.I had my last visit before surgery this week and I am studing the guide they gave me. My hardest thing will be eating slowly and not drinking anything 30 min before and 1 hr after. But, today I bought 2 timers at the Dollar Tree to keep in my pocket to remind me. I also have a baby spoon and small fork so i take small bites and eat slower. I too have been overweight most of my life, my main concern is to hopefully get rid of my diabetes. Already since Jan I have lost 25.5 lbs PTL :) This is a life change, and I am ready for it. You can too! you are already taking the first steps. Keep in touch. MiMI

    New here...

I've been a lurker on this forum from time to time, but I thought it was time to actually introduce myself. After a journey of a couple of years with Doctor visits and insurance hoops to jump through, I finally got my approval for Lap-Band surgery yesterday. I'm so excited, but suddenly quite nervous at the same time! Part of that may be because I can't quite bring myself to believe that it's actually going to finally happen! I've been on a doctor-supervised diet for the past 6 months and managed to lose about 16 pounds. That's been at a stall for about 1 1/2 months now. I'm hoping that when I start the 2-week pre-op liquid diet that will jump start my weight loss again. I'm a very slow loser, and I don't know how or if that will change with lap-band. I would like to lose about 130 pounds, but would be content with 100. I know that's a lofty goal, and I expect it to take a long time. But as long as I can continue to see progress, I know I can handle all of that. I'm a married mother of two girls. It's been so long since I've been thin and fit that I really don't remember what it feels like! I'm so looking forward to being able to do some of the things with my family that I've been missing out on. (Like riding roller coasters again!) Reading through some of the stories of people's progress and success has been very encouraging. It's great finding people who are willing to be so open about what they are going through in order to help others. Thanks!
