    Sex after Banding

I personally found, that with me laying down, and him on his knees with one of my legs up was more comfortable. I was kinda half way laying on my side that doesn't have my port and it felt great for the both of us. Last night we use the side of bed. I hung my legs over the side and he stood (we have a tall bed), no pain at all. I'm alitle nervous about doggie because the jiggling of the belly, but I think that will be a go next week. Standing up worked well too. Good luck!

How soon is too soon for real food?

I was only banded on 5/21/09, but from my understanding, eating soft foods too soon could cause an internal stitch that holds the band in place and tear. Which can lead to band slippage down the road, maybe even years, from the band not healing in the right place. Now keep in mind, that does not happen to everyone who has cheated, but it is a possibility. Good luck! and I feel your hunger pains! Today I get to advance to mushie foods, but am waiting until dinner. Half a baked potatoe and broccoli cheese soup!

    under active thyroid

Synthroid typically can make you lose weight, if infact your weight gain is because of hypothyroidism. There is a margain of TSH levels that you should be between. If you fear losing weight you can always ask your Endocrinologist or PCP to make sure your TSH levels are on the high end of normal. That way they don't get on the low end and you go into hyperthyroidism, which can cause increase in weight loss on just about anybody. There are actually some doctors that prescribe thyroid stimulating medications to people with normal TSH (thyroid hormone) to cause them to go into Hyperthyroidism and loose weight. I don't agree with it, but it's not unheard of. Oh, and make sure you're getting your TSH checked every 3-5 months to check your levels and see if your meds need adjusting. Good luck!

    Back to work Post band

Hey. I'm doing great. Lost 14 pounds and feeling amazing. I went back to work 2 days post op and felt great. Alittle sore and tired, but no pain. Things have been wonderful since. How are you doing?

How long do you stay out of work?

I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Saturday. I work in the medical field and we didn't have patients, but I had to do some sterilization and patient charting.

    Sex after Banding

LMAO. I am six days post op too, and seriously, sitting here thinking about what positions will be comfortable tonight. I guess I am alittle crazy. I'm just not in any pain. I haven't been. Alittle sore and get hungry sometimes, but that's it.

Need help - Working out with out a gym

I have a twenty pound weight in my office that between patients I go and do six reps with. Just something I had to do to get my upper body strength back. I also started doing lunges at home. I get up in the morning and do twenty lunges on each leg before I get in the shower. At night I turn on music loud in the living room and dance around with my kids. Lifting them and dancing around really is a work out. I suggest turning on some music at some point in the day when no one is around and just dancing and singing your heart out. Even if it's only for two songs, that's ten minutes of having your heart rate up and burning calories while staying in doors. I also have a DVD that I literally live by. It's called Slim in 6. I was 170 lbs and in the military when I got it and was sore as hell the next week. But doing it just 2 times a week really keeps your skin from getting saggy because it tones those muscles so well!
  8. I haven't told anyone by my mother, DH, and day care provider for my kids because she had to pick them up the day after surgery. Other than that I feel great. I didn't tell my employer, and had vacation scheduled for a week off. Ended up going back to work two days post op. Felt great. Good luck!

Does your bra cause more restriction?

I've only been banded a week and notice it as well. When I wear a sports bra I feel like I could eat the world. When I wear my regular bra my protein shakes, jello and water and I'm not even hungry.
  10. So I have read a lot where people are saying there left side is really sore. Which side are you sore on after the surgery? My right side has been sore from the beginning. My port is on the left side, but for some reason my right side is very sore. Left feels great! Right hurts when I cough, sneeze, take in really deep breath or in the process of laying down. Which side hurts for you?

    Clingy child....

I was banded four days ago and have a 1 and half year old and a three year old. Both very clingy. My three year I showed the bandaids on my stomach and told her mommy has a booboo and so she has been amazing. She still comes and sits on my lap, but I just tell her softly that mommy has a booboo and she is very gentle. My son on the other hand is too young to realize. I still lift him and hold him on my left hip since my right side seems to be more tender. My 3 year old even helps me to go to the bathroom cause when she is sick I help her. It's actually really cute.

How bad is the pain post surgery?

I am three days post op and feel great. I actually went back to work 2 days post op. I was really tired at the end of the day, but that was about it. The incision sites are still very sore, but more like a great workout sore. I have four incision sites, and they look really good. I would have to deny any pain at all. Just really sore. I used my Loritab the first night to help sleep because I was really sore after a three hour drive right after surgery. I know that I have a high pain tolerance, but yesterday I even sweeped and moped the floors, dusted and did laundry. Good luck. Gas pains do get alittle irritating. I just take Gas X and walk when I feel them or force myself to burp and it's better. I'm sure you'll do fine.
  14. Hey, hope you don't mind if I ask you a couple of questions. How tall are you? How long ago were you banded? I am looking to start my exercise routine here shortly, was just banded 2 days ago and wanted to know how you started out with the working out. You look amazing. I'm sure you feel great as well.

  15. Congrats! You look amazing!

    anyone else?

I am sorry for your struggles sweetie. I am a mother of two, but am fortunate enough to have a wonderful husband. I have thought many times about how it would be to be a single mom and struggle with my little ones alone. I have the up most respect and love for all single parents. I was raised by a single father, and there was six of us. He is amazing and eventually found the right woman when we were nearly grown. I know how hard it is taking a cut in pay with this economy. Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I started offering day care services and house cleaning during my off days. I also began taking care of an elderly lady in the neigborhood on the weekends. It brings in supplemental pay and makes up for what I lost. Is there any teenagers in the neighborhood who could do your yard and you could tutor them in school? That's what my brothers all did when they were teens. If your kids are old enough to do it, I think it's a good lesson in life. As for the band, I think you made the right decision. At the time it was what you needed, now looking back I am sure you can think of a million others things you could have spent that money on. You sound like a strong woman and that is exactly what your children need to see. Good luck and if you need to vent, please just send me a PM.

    Subclinical Hypothyroidism

The normal range for TSH is typically 0.850-5.48. If u were a patient at my office I wouldn't give you any medication. I would retest you in a couple of weeks, but without meds. Did you fast for the TSH test?

    Worried about post op recovery

Did you chew everything that was able to be chewed really well? The pain may have been because you overate. I would try calling them soonier and make sure everything is ok. I am sure that it is, but hey, better safe than sorry. I am dying for some cream of potatoe soup.
  19. Hey. Sounds great to me. So are you sick of the liquids yet? Heh. I know I am. I am trying a variety of things. Broth, crystal lite, jello, fudgecicle, and tea. I need something new. I have cream of potatoe soup that I am dying for. How are you doing?

  20. What are some of the things you all ate the first week after surgery? I am eating Jello, crystal light, caffeine free tea, and fudgecicles. Not to mention the water and chicken broth. What did you guys all eat?

So I had my surgery on Thursday, May 21st. I feel great. I'm actually at work right now. Just sitting at a desk today, but nonetheless at work. I have already lost 4 lbs and almost no pain. Just soreness. Yay! Any other May Bandsters?

    Bowel movements---gross I know!

I was banded on May 21st and still haven't had a BM. So I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if it's because of lack of food. I took a laxative, per doctors orders, the day before surgery and cleaned myself out. I'm curious if I just don't have BM because I have not had any food.....Let me know if you take the pills.

    2 days post op

Thanks so much! I feel really good. Alittle sore. Kinda like I just did a bunch of sit ups. I still get gas pains in my chest, but I just force myself to burp and take Gas X and I feel 100% better. I am so happy with my decision. I wish you all the best of luck on your journey.
