I love the crystal lite slurpies! I think they are the best ones and just a bonus they are ok to drink!

    Plateau

How many cc's does your band hold? If you have the standard I believe it is ten cc's. How are you feeling when you? Do you feel full? Are you able to hold foods down? That is what really matters. If not, call the office back and discuss that with them.

    weight gain??

Hey. I was banded on the 21st of May and having the same problem! It's not just you. It's completely normal. I have gained 2 pounds back and am watching it like a hawk. I had to tell myself only to weigh in 1 time a week and to allow more calorie intake because my body is storing all the fat because it thinks its starving.

    Call your doctor.

Have you seen Dr John Coon in Riverside, CA

Anyone use Dr. Coon that can give me some great information on him? I had surgery already, but am switching doctors. I want someone reliable, honest, and readily available.

    Oatmeal

I never even thought about that. I guess I just relate everything to the band! It just felt really weird in the center of my chest too.

    Oatmeal

I ate less than my eighteen month old child does...he eats two of those sometimes. How odd....I'm still getting the pain under my right side of my rib cage and it hurts to turn at the waist....

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?

I too am a May 21st bandster. Things are great. I'm down 18lbs since surgery day and am feeling wonderful. Started doing nightly walks with my dogs and still on mushies. I think I will do it alittle longer than recommended, only because I noticed the transition from liquid to mushie slowed weight loss. I am sure going to solids will cause every slower weight loss! Plus I am kinda loving my oatmeal, egg beaters, and broccoli cheese soups!

What to order when dining out?

My husband took me out to celebrate my first fifteen pounds down and I was also on mushies. I did the broccoli cheese soup and a plane baked potatoe. I put three tablespoons of the soup on the potatoe and munched it down. I even had the rest of the soup for lunch the next day! It was great!

The fat girl at the party.

I know the feeling! I think a lot of does have to do with confidence and how you portray yourself. I met my husband and I was overweight then as well. Not as much now, but I was about 175lbs and 5'11''. My husband is four inches shorter than me and has a six pac and arms to go with it. I def didn't think he would talk to me. Our friends were talking and I let my sense of humor and personality shine through. I guess he fell in love instantly because he propsed 3 weeks later and we were married 7 months after that. It's been four years and two kids and we're happy as can be. I have put on 65 lbs and he still loves me and tells me I have the greatest smile and best senses of humor and he's sad that I will lose all the weight because I don't have an ass when I do. heh. You will find the one that sees beyond the weight and sees you. I promise!

    Tricare anyone?

I have Tricare and my process was a bit difficult. Mainly because my surgeons office made it that way. Once I got all the information to Tricare I was approved in 3 days. I had a BMI of 36.4 and elevated blood pressure. Nothing else. Of course I documented my knee pain (which results from sports but could have been weight related) and back pain (from sports as a child as well) but could have been from weight. I started the process on 4/25/09 and was banded on 5/21/09. I'm a week and a half post op now. Good luck!

    Toning?

I do the Slim in 6 video at home. I love it. And they are simple exercises but at the end of the video you are really tired and the next day you can really feel it. Before I had my kids I did them and got toned with lean muscles and great stomach and was in a six 6 at 5'11''. Looked great. Then came the babies. Lol. Good luck!

    Sex after Banding

I'm eleven days out of surgery and none of the sex I've been having has caused any discomfort. My husband and I get pretty rough as well and it's actually been a lot more pleasant. I don't know if it's because I'm 18 lbs down or what, but I'm loving it! Good luck!

    No weight loss

I've lost 18lbs in eleven days with the lap band. But I also eat low cal low carbs, drink 4-6 liters of water a day. and do small weight training 5 days a week. I feel great and am very rarely hungry. I think it all depends on how you work and how your body adjusts to it. You have to sit down and get serious about it. Keep a found journal and look at the foods you are eating. Start doing egg beaters instead of real eggs, do low fat low calorie subsitutes. Take a walk after dinner every night. Even if it is only 15 minutes. Do a protein shake for breakfast. They have some awesome ones that I add caffeine free mocha mix too and make an amazing mocha frapaccino for breakfast every day. I wish you all the luck. Just start looking at the things you could be doing differently? When was the last time you saw your surgeon? Follow up with him and see what input he has on your lifestyle.

    Just found out I'm pregnant

Congrats to you. Although I have not been preggers while banded, I do have an 18 month old and a 3 yr old. I truly miss being preggers and can not wait to have another one. Of course, we will wait until I'm done a bit more in weight and the band has time to heal. Good luck and congrats to all of you on your bundle of joys!
  18. I had the IUD Mirena, and it did not stop my period. Although it did lighten it quite a bit. I bleed 2-3 days instead of 5-7 days. I had a complication with it and it expelled itself over a three month very painful length of time where no one could find out what was wrong even after ultrasounds and x-rays. I have patients that ask about it and I always tell them about my experience (which there are a large number of) and let them decide. Good luck!
  19. I got approved through Tricare! Yay Me! I am in the process of setting a date for the surgery. Looks like it will be 5/22/09! Woo Hoo! They are not requiring a pre-op diet, but I was curious what kind of pre-op diet you all had? Any suggestions. I want to start to train myself now. I already do a protein shake for breakfast everyday!
  20. How long did you all wait to go back to work after the surgery? I am curious because I am having mine done next week and don't want to be out of work too long.

    Band & Diet Aides?

I haven't done any, but I asked my surgeon about using Alli before I hit my sweet spot and he said the didn't see a problem with it. Just as long as I used it as directed on the bottle and still ate healthy foods.

Hi!! :) me tryin' to be all prettified! (2007)

You're goregous. And your boyfriend is totally hot. Your a lucky woman and he is a lucky man. Good luck on your banding process!
  23. I think that no matter what you do, she seems as if she is not going to listen. I would definitely tell her to call her doctor just because of the lack of BM x 9 days. She might have impaction, which is horribel to relieve. Trust me, I've had to do it on people. Good luck!
  24. Ok so I saw the other post on here asking about when to expect a BM. I have been having them and it's completely different than pre-op. I am assuming it's because I am on all liquids, but my BM is all liquid.....is this something that is normal for this stage....I had two today and one yesterday. Really made me nervous.

How soon do I have to wait to exercise

I started walking the day of surgery and it has really helped with minimizing pain and helping the healing process. I went to the grocery store the day after surgery and back to work the 2 days post op. I walk my dogs every night for thirty minutes it really does feel great. I know when I reached my limit thought because I feel a heaviness in my stomach. Good luck!
