Just wanted to let you in on my story...my husband and I tried 5 years (at 35) before I got pregnant. I, too, was diagnosed with PCOS and was told that I probably wouldn't get pregnant and if I did it was doubtful that I would carry a healthy baby to term. Well, I made the decision to stop going to the doctor, stop taking all the medicine that she put me on the "help the process" and a month later, I was pregnant. I was induced a week early because we wanted my husband to be there for the birth (he wasn't because of his military duty) but I had a perfectly healthy baby boy that weighed 9lbs. I had NO pregnancy issues AT ALL! Our son is now 6 yrs old and as happy and healthy as a child can be! I had my lapband done a year ago and I've lost 75lbs. Keep your spirits high and know that there's a blessing in the form of a miracle waiting for the right time to be presented to you.

What do you normally have for breakfast?
usmcwife1997 replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use to have the low carb slim fast but since they recalled them I can't find the low carb ones on the shelf since. Now I drink carnation instant breakfast the no sugar ones but they don't hold me over like the slim fast did. Hope they put them back on the shelf soon!!! -
Port in the Shoulder
usmcwife1997 replied to mrslamica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is in that region. Mine is actually at the top of my left breast and little toward the arm pit. I love my port being there and it makes fills so easy. I had port pain for about 2 months after surgery and then one day I realized that it just didn't hurt anymore. That area gets tender sometimes still and I'm a year post op. Good luck on your journey. I've lost about 80lbs and only have about 30lbs left to go. -
Does Tricare Prime Cover Lap Band?
usmcwife1997 replied to AChocolateJewel's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Tricare Prime South and it covered my lapband 100%. My PCM sent tricare a request for referral, I went to a seminar, a preop appt. And a preop meeting with my surgeon. From request for referral to surgery took a month. My PCM, surgeon and I stayed on the ball and it was the best decision that I ever made! Good Luck!! -
Where's your port?!
usmcwife1997 replied to sandi_022's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where my port is it doesn't interfere with intimacy and it is high enough that it wouldn't interfere with breast feeding either. It's between the top of my left breast and the top of my left shoulder. -

usmcwife1997 replied to sandi_022's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is right above my left breast. My bra strap covers it up. I like it there cause the needles for my fills are only about an inch long. :wink2: -
Can't see to get band fill right!
usmcwife1997 replied to buddyboo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is fickle to stress and hormones too! I had acid reflux so bad with this last episode that on day 2 after being completely unfilled, I still had burning in my throat from it being so raw from vomiting. I had xrays and the band is still in perfect position, just too tight and irritated. I have lost 70lbs and I want to lose about 30 more and I am so glad that I have my lapband too! If - had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat! -
Can't see to get band fill right!
usmcwife1997 replied to buddyboo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jenny, I know how you feel. Maybe our band came from the same batch! LOL I got my band March 09 and I have had to have two total unfills because my band gets irritated when I get close to my sweet spot. I was at 5.5cc's and could eat anything and everything but bread and pork. At 6cc's I had to get unfilled because of irritation. My doctor has gone as far as taking and putting in as little as .10cc (yes, a tenth) then taking out half of a tenth.I go through what I call the every other day syndrome...it's where I'm fine one day and the next I can't keep down anything but water. Good luck and hope things get better with you and your band! -
I don't get nausea with my fills, but I do get headaches right after the fill and the next day. The nurse said they've never had anyone else complain of headaches, but when I am close to my 'spot' and get a fill I get them.

I have found a dessert that I love and it's sugar free and it really helps with chocolate and sweet cravings. I bought them at the section of walmart like where the yogurt is. It's made by jello and it's chocolate mousse. It's so light and fluffy and delish with only 60 calories.

After surgery, what items could you have not lived without?
usmcwife1997 replied to krstjump03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My must have was the gas-x dissolve strips (they worked better for me than the chew ables) and water bottles with different flavor packets. I don't think that I would have been able to make it successfully after surgery without these things! -
I've had sinus drainage and it caused me to get so tight I had to have a small unfill. My doc told me to take robitussin DM MAX to help 'thin the drainage out' and it worked. Even when I don't have any symptoms but the drainage I take a dose and it really helps. The DM MAX has the same active ingredient as mucinex and doesn't cost as much. Hope this helps!

I have a hard time with sausage, any pork, and roast. No matter how tender or if there's a sauce added. Other than that the only thing I have problems with is any meat that has been reheated.

I had my lapband on March 31, 2009 by Dr. Joseph Burnette at Phoebe Putney in Albany, Ga.

I am in South Ga and I have had the lapband. Dr. Joseph Burnette was my doctor from Albany. My life changed for the better on March 31st of this year. I can't say that it's all been great, but NEVER has it been unbearable. I have lost over 50lbs. There have been days of not eating but in the end, It has been all worth it. I was recommended Dr. Burnette from my insurance company and he has been WONDERFUL! He and his staff are so 'down the earth' and helpful! I don't go by a diet, If it's something that I want, I try it and if it goes down well, then it's great! I have found that with me, it's all trial and error. There are somethings that I don't tolerate well but in all honesty, I don't miss those things from my diet. I have come to love fish and baked or broiled fish at that. Before surgery, I didn't like the taste of fish. Good Luck

Tricare Prime.. Do they pay for fills?
usmcwife1997 replied to mom2boys3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that when tricare paid for my surgery that it included 9 fills each year. If I need more than 9 then the doctor has to notify Tricare and they can approve or deny the extra fills. Some doctors could be different, I am in Georgia, so I am in the Tricare South region. Hope this helps! Good Luck!!! -
I don't take the pill because I can NEVER Consistantly remember to take them, so my doctor put me on the Nuva Ring and I have LOVED IT!!! It has 35 days of medicine in it and it's no worries! It doesn't hinder my weight loss. Hope this helps!

I was banded on March 31st. I have had 3 fills and I'm losing weight. The only thing that I am having problems with is one day I can eat fine, the next day, everything I eat comes back up. I can keep my fluids down, but on my 'bad' days everything I try to eat sits right in my chest until I cough it up. Even stuff like pudding that should slide right down. Does anyone else have this problem? It is honestly an every other day occurance since my last fill 2 weeks ago. Thanks!

2nd fill and I just don't understand....
usmcwife1997 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/31 of this year and I had my first fill 5/11. I did well with my first fill...I lost 8lbs in 4 weeks. My second fill was on 6/9 and I was only given .5cc because of being on the 'high end' of losing the weight. When I went for my second fill, I had lost a total of 33lbs since my pre-op. Since my second fill, it seems as though I want more to eat and actually can eat more than before . I'm not scheduled for my third fill until after the 4th of July. I think I have lost 2lbs since my fill. Has anyone else had this problem with having a small fill and still being hungry and able to eat more. I can't eat near as much as I did before the band, but somedays I feel like I could eat a barrel of ice cream :bored:! I have a total of 4.5 cc's in a 10cc band. -
I had my lapband surgery on 3/31 and I have lost a total of 31lbs, but I have not changed sizes yet. I figured by now that I would be able to buy smaller sizes, but I have,kt even had anyone say anything about my weight loss except my mom and husband. No one else knows that I had the surgery, but I would have thought that after 31lbs there would be some difference. I'm getting a little discouraged!
