military wives from hampton roads
erinshel replied to miissxangela's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am another Navy wife up in Newport NEws. I actually went to a Civi doctor. I went through the weight loss surgery center of Hampton Roads. My dr. was Dr. Clark. I have been very happy with my results so far and everyone working in that center. The total time from start to finish was about 3 months -
news i didn't pay much attention to until my doctor told me today
erinshel replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
way to go on your weight loss! keep up the good work and remember that one day of liquid diet is SOOO much better than that initial 2 week period or so that you did it when you had your surgery :sneaky: -
Does your doctor recommend high protein/low carb?
erinshel replied to Fanny Adams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well said!!! -
Crystal Light!!! Or rather I prefer Wylar's drink mix (just like CL only cheaper and not as powdery tasting) I find I can easily get my water in for the day when its flavored :cool2:

OMG I could kill for something soft and mushy right now. Thankfully I didnt have to do the 2 week pre-op liquid diet only 36 hours prior to surgery, but I am about over all of these shakes and such. I dont know how Im going to last another 2 weeks like this. Its only been 2 days since my surgery but Im hungry all the time and the taste of the liquids and sweetness of the Jello and pudding are starting to get to me already..... Any advice??

When does the Swelling to go down
erinshel replied to hannahj914's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep on walking. We went to Busch Gardens yesterday and let me tell you about how awkward I felt burping up a storm there because so much air/gas was coming up. I was just glad to get it out of my system. I feel loads better today although I still feel some pain in my left side shoulder and ribs. I cant lay on that side at night which really bothers me, but I can lay on my right side which has the big incission! Go figure  -
Liquid diet is SOOO hard!
erinshel replied to erinshel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im not trying to "diet" but the surgeon's office did tell us to keep sugar minimal and to watch our carb count. I havent gotten anywhere near the amount of Protein Im supposed to have each day--I was at about 65 grams yesterady and I think Ive hit 60 so far today but I'll probably eat something else tonight before bed. I just hate feeling my stomach growl and gurgle like this. My poor family feels so bad eating in front of me but its not their fault. Thanks for your response though. -
this isnt in the form of samples, but i picked up a bag of whey protein from Sams Club in the chocolate flavor and it hasnt been too bad. Im planning on trying out my magic bullet blender and putting some ice in there to make a shake next time instead of simply mixing it with the water

Liquid diet is SOOO hard!
erinshel replied to erinshel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I cant eat anything and this is useless ranting but it is very hard (you all know this already!!!) thank you for your words of support. I broke down and am eating some tomato Soup. I am already allowed to eat the Protein shakes, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, different types of broth and crystal light.... it just seems like no matter how much I eat though Im not getting full. part of it is my stomach and brain are not working together. just below my breastbone i can feel where it seems tight so I assume Im getting "full". However, my lower portion of my stomach is still growling full force and burning because my brain is saying Im hungry. I think I will call my surgeon on Monday and see about advancing to mushies earlier than 2 weeks from now. I dont know that my family can live with me that long on only a liquid diet!!! :tt2: :tt2: -
hey everyone! I just got banded on April 8th. I am up and moving around really well being 2 days post op. I am actually heading to Busch Gardens in a little bit with friends that are in town visiting. Granted I wont be riding much if anything and Im planning on renting a wheel chair to get me around for the day. I am hungry but not so bad I can't stand it. I still have a lot of the gas pains in my chest, shoulders, and neck and minimal pain around my incisions. I think the gas pains are worse than anything else. I hope I can find a great network for support here and the in person meetings from Dr. Clark and his office. Thanks!

yep april 8th was my surgery date! thank you for adding me to that list. I will check out the Hampton Roads support group. I worked with Dr. Clark and he was really great.

What did you wear on surgery day?
erinshel replied to hrtgoeson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore a pair of stretchy yoga pants and a comfy top. Oh and flip flops! I couldnt imagine trying to put on regular shoes after the surgery.. flip flops made it so easy -
When does the Swelling to go down
erinshel replied to hannahj914's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery yesterday morning. I took the anti nausau meds in hospital and slept on and off for a bit longer there. I was okay with it since I didnt have much planned for yesterday anyway  I had really bad gas pains last night that pretty much stayed in my ribs and upper stomach area. My stomach is still pushed out a bit and I know I still have quite a bit of gas inside. Walking around the house last night helped a lot....Although it did cause me to burp a lot. Today is seems to be coming otu the other end (sorry if thats TMI). I feel SOOO much better today although I still have some pain in the incission area and am still a bit tired. Im hoping the rest of the gas pain goes away quickly, so we'll see. Good luck with your surgery!
