think I might have torn something inside??
erinshel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so I am about 25 days post op give or take and I have been pretty pain free for awhile now. Well the other day I was sitting in my car and stupidly leaned forward to pick something up off the passenger side floorboard..... I literally felt something rip accross where my biggest incission is. I hurredly lifted my shirt but didnt see anything wrong. The pain was intense, it felt like something burning just below the surface of my skin. I went inside and layed down for a bit and its not so bad today but is still pretty tender. My surgeon's office closes shop early on Fridays and I didnt get a chance to call while at work this morning. Im thinking if its still bothering me come Monday Im making the call..... either way Ouch!! -
LOVE LOVE LOVE my bullet as well hands down BEST purchase for this even though I already had it before surgery haha

I went in with some of my co-workers today to see about picking up a smoothie for lunch.... I am totally digging their cranberry crush 200 calorie smoothie, but there is no way on God's green Earth I could eat the entire thing in a reasonable amount of time. So, instead of wasting $3-$4 on something I couldn't eat I requested it be made and put into a child's serving. I was refused. I'm not going to lie when I told you I was shocked. How hard could it be to make LESS of something to put into a smaller cup? Its not rocket science! I requested to talk to the manager and when she came out I repeated my request. I told her that I had recently undergone bariatric weight loss surgery which left me unable to consume more than 4-6 oz of food at a time. She told me that they were only allowed to make 3 different smoothies in kid's sizes---orange creamsicle, chocoloate Peanut Butter, and strawberry banana. Ummm hmmm not a good thing to give kids in general IMO but a complete NO NO for me for OBVIOUS reasons! I was completely dumbfounded! Not only did the manager hold her front about "corporate policy" she told me that they wouldnt substitute nutrisweet in the strawberry banana. She also told me she couldnt make it without the banana (just strawberry) either! I am honestly upset that one of my favorite places to get a healthy quick lunch has been scratched off my list of places to go. It actually infuriates me to know that a business is not willing to be flexible to accomodate a customer's request---espeically one as SIMPLE as making a smaller portion to accomodate a dietary restriction. So to all the bandsters out there----dont waste your time going to Tropical Smoothie, they wont do anything to help aid your weightloss! If anything, they will take your money and increase your fat!

Tropical Smoothie anyone??? NOT this bandster!!!
erinshel replied to erinshel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for your response and support! It just burns me up because you're right! Their size is 24 oz of smoothie and I only NEED 8oz or less (8 oz is a big stretch)----bigger isnt always better! -
I actually have the Realize band (shhh!! dont kick me out hehe) the only real difference according to my surgeon is that the port on the Realize band is a bit thinner...

I had to get a little "crazy" with my psych office as well. When I saw the Dr. I explained that I was trying to get everything in by a certain date to send to insurance which would hopefully have my approval and surgery date scheduled for a certain time period. She assured me she would have the paperwork to Dr. C's office by the time specified and of course I called the next day and it still wasnt there. I called back to the office and they tried to give me some crap about it taking up to 10 days to process. I informed them that the Dr. had assured me personally that it would be faxed by "X" date. If it would not be sent at that time then it was highly unprofessional of her to tell me it would. I went into a nice mini speech about professionalism toward patients and the fact that my time was just as valuable as theirs. It was faxed that afternoon

could you go sit up there for an afternoon and wait on it? Tell them you can personally deliver it?

Serious question for embarrassing problem

yep! I burp ALL the time. Even with protein drinks... I burp... if I drink water, I burp. Its embarassing but I just explain that I recently underwent surgery and that I am still working out the gas they used to pump up my abdomen. If they dont like it shove em! I say excuse me after each time and try to keep it as quiet as I can. If they cant handle that then oh well!!! lol... good luck getting it better though -
I could have written this post..... I actually did write something similar to it in another post lol..... Its not that I feel hungry all the time because I dont. I get hungry about 3-4 times a day and so I eat something. I hit the 1500 calorie mark today because I ate some fried chicken with refried Beans at dinner. NOT a good healthy food, but mushy nonetheless. I have been able to pretty much tolerate anything except bread---bread and I dont seem to get along anymore which is okay. I made sure to hit the gym and worked off about a third of the calories I took in today but I have gained back about 3-4 lbs since starting mushies last week. I measure out my food and try not to eat more than 1-2 cups at any given time, but at this point Im worried even that is too much because I dont always feel full afterwards AND Ive gained back weight. My body is still trying to balance out "how much" and what I should be eating in order to go back to losing weight. I hope it gets easier for you.

yep i can feel it if i push on that area...that side of my stomach is also more lopsided than the other... no worries though it doesnt bother me otherwise
-
OMG is this normal? I went off my liquid diet last Thursday and I started with my mushies. I am trying to stay on a protein shake for breakfast then light lunch then solid/mushy food for dinner..... i didnt even eat any cupcakes at my son's birthday party this weekend :tt2: what gives? Im still staying active and working out.... I dont want to have to stay on a primarily liquid diet to lose weight---Im not a happy camper right now

i heard back within 6 days and my surgery was scheduled for 10 days later -
how long after your surgery did your tape come off of your incissions? I am 12 days post op and my tape is still on and going strong.... i have been having some burning/pain sensations near my biggest incission and really feel it is being caused by the surgical tape. the surgeon said to leave them on until they fall off on their own. Only one has fallen off and it was the smallest incission up near my breast bone--most likely from being hit with my bra everytime I went to put it on. They look awful! No matter how many alcohol swabs I use I cant get the sticky grey residue off my skin. They look dirty from my clothes rubbing up against them as well. I have my first post op appointment on Thursday so Im going to address it then, but what about the rest of you? How long did it take?
-
congratulations on your progress!!!! I will hopefully be updating on Thursday when I have my first post op appointment. Keep up the good work :crying:

I have been using (dont rememebr the specific brand) 100% whey protein chocolate powder I got from Sam's club and I swear it tastes like carnation instant breakfast. 23 grams of protein in just the powder... added with skim milk it bumps it to almost 30 per serving so not too shabby. I am about over the atkins premixed vanilla drinks--they are just TOO sweet. These are still pretty good though....

The wait time to hear back from Tricare was about 6 days. I didn't work with Dr. T, I went with Dr. Clark. All in all though I ahve been very happy with everything. My care at Sentara Careplex was amazing! Good luck and keep me udpated

9 pounds in 3 days!
erinshel replied to NiceWillSuffice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep im down close to 22lbs in 13 days.... gotta love the liquid diet :crying: -
I picked up 100% Whey Protein powder at Sams club and have really enjoyed mixing that with 4-5oz of skim milk and ice. Then blend it in my magic bullet. Its not super chocolatey which is nice because Im about over the sweet stuff....
