  1. My abdomen is still a little bloated and swollen at 19 days Post-Op. Is that normal? I have lost 21 lbs in those 19 days, but my gosh.... I can see less of my umm.... feet..... when I look down now than prior to surgery. hahaha. :tt2: So, is the swelling normal still you think?
  2. Good to hear... while I have lost the weight, it seems like the abdomen size is the same.....

    please help me

I was banded on the 20th and since surgery have lost 27 lbs total in less than three weeks (incl. pre-op diet). I have to tell you that this past couple days I have had: refried beans with sour cream, some chicken (can't eat much of it, but make it mushy in my mouth), applesauce, oatmeal, salmon - I have even had guacolmole (sp) on a chip, and was just careful I chewed it to an absolute pulp prior to swallowing it. Ya' know, I feel great - am losing weight - have not even had the first fill - I am staying at 4oz or under and it seems to fill me up....
  4. Hey - quick question - I am eleven days post-op and still have some abd. swelling - normal?? How long did yours last? Steve
  5. Hi there - I was banded on the 20th and since then have gotten a buldge that kind of comes and goes.. sometimes larger and sometimes smaller - but right above my navel to the right (opposite of port side). You can actually see the buldge in the mirror, it looks like a little alien baby trying to get out. Anyway, I had my first post-op with the Doc yesterday and of course, it was not buldging out, but I mentioned it to him. He said "well, it sounds like a hernia, lets take a look". So he feels around and pushes around and around and around for about 2 min, and says "its a mystery to me"... Any ideas? Could it be gas moving around? Its a little sore there, but doesn't "hurt" per say. Thanks,
  6. So I had my first post op appt. today. I am down 27lbs in 17 days...... (12lbs prior and 15lbs since surgery on the 20th) I have started on mushies obviously - my question is: I was lectured on the 4oz mushies or solid food at meal time. I have been doing 8oz of carnation or another Protein shake to get my protein in.... Do liquids have to stay in the 4oz range?? It would seem to me that the answer would be "no" but I forgot to ask him. Like Soups, Protein shakes... etc. How the *$ would I get 50-70 grams of protein that way? Some insight would help. I have had NO vomiting, No nausea, nothing.... Check this out: Today I had a 8oz carnation with a banana blended in for Breakfast, for lunch I had pureed chicken salad (4oz), and I haven't eaten dinner yet..... I don't think I am doing anything wrong here... You can't "stretch the pouch" with liquids, can you? I would think they pass right through (water).
  7. Ok - so my weight prior to the pre-op diet was 359, Op-day I was 347, and today after one week I weighed in at 332. So 15lbs in first week, 27lbs total....Needless to say, I am very happy! Not too hungry, but I start on mushies today, so I am def. looking forward to that. I think the key to this is chew chew chew - as if you chew enough, everything becomes soft and mushie, right??.... So my question for you band veterans out there is this: Can you eventually eat basically anything you want eventually? I mean, obviously this is a lifestyle change, I understand that, but gosh.... some buffalo wings and blue cheese sure would taste good again one day... Thanks and thanks to this forum!! Steve

    Dizzy and Lightheaded

I was banded on the 20th as well... I felt the same way until I really started making sure I was getting the Water down. Are you having any trouble with that? I did at first, but now I am learning just how much I am able to drink at one time. JUst watch your hydration level would be my opinion.
  9. Oh for God's sake.... Gloom and friggin' doom... The popping sensation I am sure is nothing. If you are real concerned, call your doctor. I was banded on the 20th, and have experienced the same thing - and I have been 100% compliant. Good luck! Steve
  10. Remember you are probably swollen from the surgery and they prob gave you a bunch of fluids, so the weight I wouldn't stress over. I was banded on Monday and today I am down 10lbs from the band day weight. But, as of yesteday it was like only 2 lbs - so once the swelling went down it showed the true weight
  11. Hi all - Things went well for me... I think. I came home and I am seeing some swelling in my abdomen, mostly to the right of my belly button, nowhere close to any incision.. I am assuming this is just gas and bloating and should go down. The thing that concerns me a bit is that I am having some sweating and chills. I woke up this morning, having obviously been sweating in bed, with the chills (teeth chattering). No temp right now.. but I am still a bit worried. I have been taking the Oxycodiene (sp) pretty regularly since I got home yesterday at 12 noon. What are your thoughts on the swelling and particularly the chills/sweating? Thanks all! Steve

    Hello from Virginia

Hi - I am from Richmond and being banded on the 20th. I was amazed at the weight loss so far you experienced. Does this include your pre-op diet, or was the weight loss since your surgery? What type of exercise are you doing at this point and how "has it been" so far?? I am pretty nervous. I have heard the more you have to lose, the quicker it will come off. I am 356, so I am hoping this is true!
  13. Hello - My name is Steve and I am being banded on April 20th at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, VA. I weigh 356 and am really looking forward to the banding. I think my weight really hit home two summers ago when I could not get on the roller coasters with my 9 year old son and 6 year old daughter! Anyway, I have realized while looking through this (and other) forums that one can really just focus on all the negatives or all the positives you read.... There was some forum "lapbandforum.com" that most everything was negative and "why am I not losing" weight? - Also I noticed that a lot of those folks went to Mexico to have the surgery done...... This one seems much more down to Earth and I look forward to sharing my journey. A couple questions: 1. How do you determine what your "ideal weight is"? I see a bunch of websites, but I wasn't sure if anyone could point me to one. 2. I have heard the more you have to lose, the quicker you should lose it. How true is this? Of course, I realize that I have to follow the plan!! Thanks and I look forward to this forum!
