6 Weeks Post-Op - Let me share with you my day...
phlphan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went to Busch Gardens today with the family to Celebrate last day at home before travel starts pretty heavy again. Started out great. Cup of coffee with 27 Splendas and then about 1.5 scrambled eggs, yes Band gestapo... an hour later - NOT!!! (ok... 28 min later) Then for lunch, had like two ribs (pretty dry, not fun), a couple pulls off of wifey's chicken (like three or four fork fulls) and two wonderfully amazing cheese sticks smothered in a delightful marinara sauce. For an afternoon snack-a-roo, had half of the ice cream in a waffle cone and some hot fudge that happened to be hidden inside the waffle cone. Did not eat the waffle cone, although it was speaking to me in tongues that I did not recognize. After I gave it to my daughter, it screamed in agony as she devoured him. Had half a strawberry milkshake on the ride home. Little boy feel asleep and it just sat there sweating in the booster seat cup holder. I felt sorry for it, and thought of starving children in Africa..... (My gift to the world today...) For dinner just had about 5oz of Chicken Parmesan. Not bad... Funny thing is... I think I am right at 2000 calories for the day and daily plate says I need a few more to still be on par for 3lb a week weight loss..... Oh well. Hey guys, I start traveling next week, so back to the good (better for me) eats. I just wanted to share this with you guys to prove that you don't have to starve or not enjoy your life after the band. This is obviously not something I do everyday, but an occasional indulgence I believe is only human.... Plus, still under my caloric intake... funny, huh? Someone will "get me" though... Let the blood-letting begin. Have a great week - my weekly Public Service Announcement will be out Tuesday or Wednesday!!! -

It is great - love it. We live 15 min. from KD, and I would rather drive the 45 min - hour to Williamsburg than walk around the concrete jungle at KD. -

So amongst my humor - I need some help too please >>
phlphan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was banded on the 20th of April I was down to 320 from 359 (347 surgery date). Today I stepped on the scale and its up to 324. So a four lbs weight gain in four days since getting a fill. I have 5.1 in a 14cc. My hunger has definately gone back up after the two liquid days last week. I find myself grazing and I don't want to start that cycle again. Breakfast was 1/2 cup oatmeal. lunch was 4oz salmon. Tough going down - think it might have gotten a bit stuck or I hit the fill point, not sure which, but I def. got the "oh crap.... something ain't right" feeling. It went away after awhile. What do you guys think? Eating too fast? Not filled enough? Just curious of your opinions. Steve -
Well damn it... Tell her to not eat the bones off the carnival turkey legs next time!

I have found that oftentimes the "Enlighteners" are merely little elves who are scared of those with a sense of humor. Someone will eventually get mad at me for spreading joy through humor... you will see. I shall merely respond with a simple "Oh Brother".

phlphan replied to jlapete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah - me too. But I would like to know more about the whole "jumping your hubby for his mashed potatoes..." Is this some kind of code?? LOL Good luck. -
One incision is really itchy!
phlphan replied to missy0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be okay - when you see a head poke out of the hole then I would start to worry - in the meantime, if its a little itchy, do little itchy scratches I guess. I smacked the crap out of myself and found it to stop the itchyness.... I kinda liked it come to think of it.... Hmmmm..... -
Bumping my own thread - b/c I am so vain!

BM changes post op--TMI
phlphan replied to savannahsmommie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone in my house cheers when I finally have a BM - it has been a struggle.... The only thing I can tell you to share my struggles is that it reminds me when we got our dog about 8 years ago and he did a doo-doo in the yard instead of the house. We got all excited and made a big deal. So, now instead of getting excited for the dog, my kids (9 and 6) get excited for Dad! Woo-friggin'-Hoo! -

My point of it all is this: We all have different opinons - no you are not an idiot... You are absolutely normal - I had the biggest bowl of banana pudding yesterday and it was the best friggin thing I have ever eaten in my life. Similar to what a mouth orgasm would be like if we were to ever experience one...... Check out my post from today - I think it sums it up: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/public-service-message-94904/ -
Hey Donna - who was your doc?
-
Thanks everyone! I mean for real though..... I realize that people come here for support, but lets be honest, these boards are a reflection of the world we live in - different opinions... some want to be experts - inbetween TIVO'ing Rachel Ray - some just want emotional support (which is certainly fine) - some are picking a fight (see other post from today where I was blasted) To borrow a phrase from one of America's greatest poets: "Can we all just get along?" Love to all - and yes, I'd love to do a PSA a week.

Did you do all the things I listed? I would assume the answer is "no". It appears all you did was eat a harmless grilled cheese and had some tomato Soup (both of which I happen to love and have cheated with myself! ) Relax.... go have some oatmeal. -

And BTW Indshark, RM does happen to know what she's talking about and is a successful bandster to this point. And whether you agree with her or not, please don't call people names! SWEET!!!! CAT FIGHT CAT FIGHT!!! I WANT PICTURES. -

I have noticed... without getting personal... that there are some over-reactors (who will say "how can you be over-reacting when talking about our own health) and there are some on here that are just plain crazy (I ate a whole pizza, drank a six pack, and now am inhaling a milkshake... do you think I will be okay?) Well duh - makes me sometimes question if some type of idiot test should be taken prior to the surgery. Anyway, I think when you post stuff, you open yourself up to all kinds of criticism.... Yes, some are definately "gloom and doom at every turn", I have noticed, but I think the results people are having or not having should speak for themselves. -
People Losing 2lbs+ wk and exercising - What is your daily menu look like?
phlphan replied to shelly1066's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Breakfast: Either 2 eggs with Ketchup or 1 bag oatmeal or 8oz carnation with a banana in it Lunch: 4-5oz chicken salad, or 6oz salmon Dinner: Chicken, fish, Soup or Beans with salsa and sour cream (yum yum) Dessert: 2 scoops of Bluebunny sugar free icecream, blended into a skim milk shake I am sure that some will flip out on me, but I don't care. I am down 27lbs since being banded on 4/20, and 39 lbs since starting the one week liquids prior. I walk five days a week for one mile and it takes me about 20 min to walk it - so I am not breaking any land speed records nor chasing any antelope I may encounter.... Oh - drinking a crap load of Water with the 5 cal Hawaiian Punch mix in it. -
Umm. not trying to be a jerk, but if I were throwing up everyday after eating - particularly three times a day - the last friggin thing I would be doing would be even logging onto my computer... With that said - Good luck.

I was really naughty today...
phlphan replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are looking at it (the mushy food part). the same way I did... I have been fine and been losing weight. (Insert "I am not a doctor claim here") I think the critical thing is the 4-5 oz at a time... Naturally regardless of what you eat (just dont be drinkin' milkshakes, etc.) you are going to lose weight at 3 meals a day at 4-5 oz. People sometimes say, "Oh my God, you need more food, its so unhealthy". My answer is, "So was being 359 lbs!" Sounds like you are doing great - just be careful and stop at the slightest sign of being full! When were you banded? -
So Friggin Confused - Meal Help Please!
phlphan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at almost 1 mo post op and allowed mushies - so this is basically what I am doing: Two scrambled eggs in the morning Grilled chicken Breat or Salmon Filet for lunch with maybe a little Tuna salad or straight Tuna Fish (not much four or five fork fulls) dinner I do a fish of sorts (Salmon, Tuna, Tilapia) and maybe a couple fork fulls of mashed pototoes. It looks like my calories are anywhere from 800-1400 depending on the day.... Does this sound okay? Anything stick out at you? I am going under the premise that anything can be made "mushy" if I chew it 934 times prior to swallowing and I have not had the first hint of PB'ing or getting anything stuck. Thanks all!! - What do you think?
