Thanks to you September Bandsters and especially Lisalee, since I posted last week I have lost 6 POUNDS!! I got back on the bandwagon after being inspired by your post. I am sort of scared to get another fill though. (the six pounds was some that i had gained back, not extra) but I am still happy and very thankful. Could I weigh in on Monday and start reporting it here?? Thanks again.

Lisa, Thank You so much, I really needed to hear that. I guess I have always been a bit of a loner but I can't do this alone. Thanks again, I was really starting to get depressed.

Can some of you September Bandsters give me some support? I have been bad, I guess I need encouragement because I am sabotaging myself, I listen to the head hunger and I eat until I am sick. I am afraid if I don't get it together I will slip my band. My support group/Dr's Office moved so I am hoping I can get some advice here. I was doing good, banded Sept. 27 and had lost about 22 pounds, working out. But since the new year I have just totally dropped the ball and have regained some of the weight, please help I feel that I am my own worst enemy. Kristin

Hi, I gained 2 pounds this week, dammit! I joined the gym and have been working out like crazy and eating right, I know I just have to give it time.

Did you ever try fitday.com it is really cool, like a diary and log.

Hi, Weigh in 241.6 yeah! Getting better since fill on thursday!

To add to your list of categories women won't usually date, sometimes when a guy is "too nice" for some crazy reason certain women want nothing to do with him. On the other hand, you can be fat and a jerk and some girl with low self esteem or love of bad boys will date you in a heartbeat.

I had my first fill on Thursday and I am definitely feeling restriction!! I went to dinner with friends last night and had to have 3/4 of my salad wrapped. I guess that is the green zone, because I have been eating small amounts and staying full for hours! I hope it stays this way through the holidays. I got 1.5 cc's in a ten cc band. I was afraid more of the first fill than the surgery but it was fast and great, no flouro, just one poke!

question for everyone, please answer

I just had my first fill yesterday. My surgeon is new at Lapbands, so I figured he would do it under flouro, but first he felt for the port and he said he would try it blind, he got it on the first try!! It was way easier than I expected. -
I tried the grape flavor protein water by stacker, it was at brooks pharmacy for 2.49 and it was really pretty good, for days when you can't get your protein in with food alone. I liked it way better than any protein shake. I looked online and there were 2 different brands, and the Stacker brand was more expensive but tasty!

Hi, The issue you brought up here is one that hits home for me. When I was nine years old, (there were five kids all within 5 years of each other, oldest 11 youngest 6) my Mom got pregnant with child number 6. During her pregnancy she kept having dizzy spells and she would fall alot. At first they thought she had a brain tumor and my Dad gathered us kids up and prepared us for the worst. By the time my brother was born, they had figured out that she had a very progressive form of MS. Her condition deteriorated rapidly after the birth, the two of us older girls pretty much raised the baby. After about three years, she was in a wheelchair or in bed at all times, and my Dad left us. It was so hard because she could not work and she was afraid to get help for us because she thought the state would take us children away. We took care of my Mom and the baby and wondered where our Dad went. Growing up like that was very hard and alot of times I hated him, but my Mom was the most patient and caring woman who has ever lived and she tried to teach me to forgive him. She said that she forgave him and that it would be hard for anyone to stay, especially if they weren't very strong. Sometimes I would get sort of mad at her for not getting angry but she said it only hurts us to harbor hate. Growing up like that you would think I would really be against Mr. P, but I guess having a Mom like her made me sort of see it from both sides. Either way I know how hard it is and I will say a prayer for Mrs. and Mr. P. and hope that they find the right path. Kristin

Helloooooooooooo from Cincinnati!!
tommygirl replied to Endora's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I, too, was one of the first for my dr. I was nervous, but he is experienced as a surgeon, especially laproscopic surgery. All lapband doctors who are endorsed by Inamed (the maker of the band) have to be proctored (assisted) by an experienced lapband dr for the first few surgeries to make sure they have the procedure down. I don't think there are very many mortalities at all, I think it is less than a half a percent. Best of luck, I hope it all works out for you! -
Hi, I am weighing in at 244 today. So I am down 2. Not bad I guess but I can't wait for first fill.
-
Kat, I hear ya, I only told one person, my dh. I did'nt even want to tell him! Only because it is very personal, I don't want everyone scrutinizing and saying "should you be eating that?" But don't worry about everyone else, you will get there, like you said it did'nt happen overnight. Good Luck, you can do it!

Hi, I was banded September 27th and the first three weeks were fine, but this past week I have been really tired and experiencing a sharp pain, almost constant, in the port area. Is this anything unusual or is it normal?? Please help my dr. is on vacation.
-
Hi September Bandsters, Does anyone else feel exhausted? I was banded on 9/27 and was feeling great, did my half hour workout every morning last week, but this week I feel like I can't get out of bed and I have not had any energy for anything, never mind working out

HI, I had surgery yesterday morning and now I am home and feeling good. The actual surgery went fine, but they could not get an iv in me, either, they must have poked me 16 times finally that had to put in a central line, stitched right into the jugular, yuck! That was the only thing that bothered me, plus i would have been able to go home last night except that only certified people can take out the stitches and the center line, it was nasty, so glad it is over, it is great to be home on my own couch! Best of luck to all of you.

Bettina, I feel the same as you (we are being banded the same day!) I am oddly calm also. I keep waiting for the nervousness and anxiety to kick in, but so far I am fine. I have done a preop Optifast diet for 2 weeks, I am ready for this! I wish everyone the very best of luck with this new chapter of our lives! Kristin <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I am not a Doctor but I think when you choke the food gets stuck in your windpipe. However, you would be putting force on the area with the banding and compressing with your fists so I suppose it might damage it? Maybe a Doctor would know.
