  1. Looking at high protein/low carb shake recommendation that I can buy in or online shipped within Canada? Any recommendations? Power suggestion but also looking at the pre-made ones that I can have accessible at work. Thx
  2. Hey everyone, I have my surgery date of Oct 6 for my sleeve. No liquid pre-op before hand either, which I am thinking is not in my favour considering, now, All I think about is food FOOD FOOD! like its a free for all every day, Not just the LAST MEAL, as I know my surgery day is coming and from that day on, It will change forever. Is it just me or does any of you feel this way?
  3. Going from a band to a sleeve on OCT 6th and I am starting to freak out a bit. My main reason for doing the band in 09 was that NO CUTTING was being done other than lapascropicaly. Soooooo anxious about what the pain factor will be in regards to being sleeved? The idea of my stomach being CUT and removed to 20% is hard to comprehend. Truth?? Can you feel your stomach afterwards? Can you feel the staples? Does it hurt to take your first drink? Pain on a scale from 1-10? Gas Pain? What was worse? Fearing what pain I will be in post op

    October 2014

I am scheduled for Oct 6th Nervous but excited. Mentally thinking of all the food I love as I consume it now. After the 6th, food will not be a priority and cannot be used as emotional crutch anymore. Lots of emotions thinking about saying good bye.
  5. Eeeeck!!!! Soooo excited for you My date is slowly approaching on the 6th Oct and I am getting nervous/excited. Sending you positive vibes chickadee for a speedy recovery
  6. Hi everyone! Going from a band to a sleeve on Oct 6th and I was wondering how many of you name your sleeve to make it more personal? I would love to hear your SLEEVE names and if there was a reason why you chose that name. I never did name my band but I am thinking of giving my upcoming sleeve a name since she's gonna be a permanent part of my body/life.
  7. Thanks so much for all your responses. It sure helps by reading every ones wls post op pain tolerances I guess I am "preparing for the worst, but HOPE for the best" in pain control. I do have a high pain threshhold tolerance. My main concern is that I have to fly home with a connection in Toronto,ON to the closest airport near my hometown, and then sit in a car for 3 hours to drive home. Yes, I live in rural Northern Ontario. My hubby is coming with me, thank goodness!! LOL
  8. Hi there Same with my Dr. My revision band to sleeve is scheduled for Oct 6. No pre-op diet for this girl too. Fast starting at 10pm the night before Surgery. Duh! I can do that! Wondered myself this question. Thanks for posting
  9. Consult went excellent. Dr. Gagner was awesome. Waiting to hear from his nurse Veronique now....., but I was given the date of Oct 6th as my date!! He answered all of my questions and then some. After comparing both surgeries, I am opting for the sleeve. For me, it was the best choice Still the thought of cutting and removing a body part, is alittle surreal to me. Eeeeeeeeeck!!! This girl is super excited!!!!

  11. WOW!! you are an INSPIRATION to us all. Girl, I am sooo pleased to have met you and thank you for your kind, helpful and inspiring messages in deciding my own future after my experiences of being a bander. I am soooo very excited now for my consult on this Friday with Dr. Gagner and date towards a SLEEVE. This band has definitely got to go! The sooner the better. Amazing transformation girl. Well done! you took your TOOL and rocked it!!! Thank you for keeping us in the loop and I too, cannot wait to see how your gonna kill that 20 lbs!!! Shelley
  12. Hi there I am an Ontario 09 bander which is now going through the process of researching self pay sleeve in Canada. I had little success with my band but then due to a slipped band in 2013 with a quick trip to Smartshape in Mississauga for a revision surgery, I have had nothing but complications since. ITs time for the band to move out and the sleeve to move in!!! Leaning towards Gagner and am wondering if anyone has seen him for a consult or as their surgeon. Would love to hear about your experiences, pre-post operative and how you are doing today. Thanks Shelley
  13. Hi shimmer Researching myself now and wondering how your surgery went with Dr. Gagner. I have a consult with him this coming Friday. Would love to hear about your experience. Thanks Shelley

  15. Its 7 weeks Post Op for me. I have to admit that I am officially struggling with my emotional side of eating. :mad2: Even though I have read, been told by the staff and know inside personally that the band is a "tool" to weight loss, I somehow thought it would be alittle easier with eating side. Maybe I am jumping the gun alittle. (my 1st fill is this Friday ) But my old habits are trying soo hard to break me. I am good all day. I stay focused and eat my Proteins, etc do what I am supposed to do, BUT when night time comes, my emotional demon comes out! Out of boredom, & habit, I want to graze which I admit I do. Feeling disappointed in myself for letting my old habits WIN  I have stayed in touch with the clinic , have had followup app#'s with the dietition & now have a referral to the Wellness coach for more support. I am excited for my fill as I am hoping it will give me that sense of satisfaction that I am not feeling now and stay feeling full longer. (crossing fingers) I need ideas & support on how to get past that sense of boredom, and habit of night grazing. Thanks
  16. WOW!! Congrats to YOU! What a huge difference. YOu must feel great:)

    Magic Bullet?

I have a Bullet too...but honestly...If you already have something to mix/blend...why buy another?
  18. Hi Scott I too, am feeling the same as you.....Its the fear of the unknown...and for me...the fear of failure. I am a Self Pay for my surgery and I am soo scared of failure. My surgery is May 28th. Flying out to Toronto ON tomorrow. Shelley
  19. Do ppl need to be aware that we are banded in case of emergencies? I noticed when purchasing a medic alert bracelet for my daughter who suffers from Asthma that you can have 'Lapband /no NG tube without scope" or "Gastric By pass/no NG tube with out Scope" engraved into a medic alert bracelet. Is it necessary? Has anyone come across a medical situation where the EMS needs to be aware of our Bands? Very curious as to what do you's think? Shell
  20. Its a very personal decision for me and in which i choose not to tell anyone other then my supportive hubby. It just takes the pressure off:) I get my support for him and these great forums. Mabe once my surgery is over with ( May 28th) I will change my mind, but for now, its me & my man! lol

    Help with Protein shakes

My doc precribed Meditrim shakes. Vanilla tastes GREAt with ice, & Crystal light sugar free powder. Blend it up to a smooth great tasting smoothy! Adding a bit of fruit such as berries..helps too:) chocolate tastes great too.. My advice is Blend Blend Blend! Add ice, sugar free syrups etc ..Do whatever to get them down each day.
