  1. I got whatever my doctor stuck in me! lol And I truely have no idea what that is...
  2. My surgeon urged me to stay away from caffeine... b/c it can cause hunger. Just a tidbit from my doctor. I was never a caffeine drinker, so now i just try to be aware of if something has caffeine or not.
  3. I only had to do 5 days of clear liquids prior to surgery date. I lost 8 pounds... just an fyi though, after surgery I weighed myself a day or 2 after, and it was a mistake to do so. B/c I had gained 4 pounds, but you have to figure in swelling & trauma. It came right back off after my system settled down.

How Soon can one Exercise and what to do?

Hey there Jeremy~ Welcome to Bandland. I waited right at a month to get back to the gym. I was told not to push it too much or too fast, b/c you can develop a hernia. Definately don't want that. So I started w/ cardio, Love the eliptical machine. Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Gas Pain

Walk Walk Walk...Move Move Move... it's more than likely from surgery. I remember mine hurt so bad, it would wake me up. Sucks to say but if it is the gas from the surgery you pretty much have to deal with em.

What exactly is your stomach healing from?

ridethewave- Hi there. I think in healing, it means letting the swelling go down. When I was first banded I felt restriction, probably most people do for awhile, b/c their stomach has swelled from the trauma done to it with placing the band around. Good luck. I hope this helps alittle.
  15. I say don't go. I'm not a teller, and when you tell someone you aren't eatting because you "have a stomach bug" or "aren't hungry" they get suspicious. I didn't tell any of my co-workers at work about it,and about 3 weeks after surgery my boss asked me if I had surgery, b/c i was losing and never eatting at my desk. People notice. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  16. Here is my experience, from my surgery & working in a hospital for 4 yrs. Typically you don't get a catheter in your bladder with the lap band. So you get to get up and go potty :hurray:. The nurses will probably let you change into your jammies if you want, aslong as you dont have any IV's and such. But I say, just stay in your gown that night. I didn't stay the night with my surgery, but man was I sleepy from the anesthesia! Do you have sweat pants or something? I wore my workout clothes for like 3 days after surgery. Good luck! I hope this helped alittle!

    Nervous-1st fill tomorrow

Hi All- Im nervous about my first fill tomorrow morning. What should I expect? My doc does the 1st fill under fluoro <or however you spell it>. Got the jist on, not eatting or drinking 4 hrs prior. Am I going to be sore afterwards? or just feel tight? My doc also does the "fill diet" afterwards, 3 days of clears, 4 days of fulls, 1 week soft. So that will be fun again! haha. I'm excited, i'm ready to get the weight really coming off, just nervous. Advice?

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet

No cheating, i was good! I'm proud of that too. There are reasons why they give you a pre-op diet. It's not just because they are mean. lol. It's for your health. I say don't cheat, otherwise you might screw yourself. I had 5 days of clears. It wasn't much fun, but hey by day 2 I wasn't even hungry anymore.

    BMI 39-bcbs of north carolina

Joint Pain is considered a comorb. Aslong as your doc has it documented, etc. I have BCBS. Had a 5 yr weight history, Psych eval, 6mo supervised diet with my PP, etc etc. Goodluck! Stay on them, push & push. The best advice I was given was "stay on your insurance company, where they know you as a person, and not just another case." Worked for me I called them every other day for a week, and got my approval.

    Antidepressants/antianxiety meds helping weight loss

Hey there- if you dont mind me asking, how long have you been on the lexapro? Lexapro made me crazy. I had to get off of it. They say Lexapro is more fast acting but doesn't work very well long term. As far as the weight loss etc, I dont have any advice. But I did want to share that bit of knowledge with ya. Good luck!

    Need Help & advice!

Ok, so I was banded 3/30/09, so I'm still fairly new. I'm still suppost to be on mushy food. I had decided not to tell anyone at work about my surgery choice. Now, the problem is.... I have to go out to a lunch meeting on Tuesday & Wednesday of next week. I dont want them to notice me not eating as much, and not guzzling down my beverage. Advice please???? To make matters worse I work with a close girlfriend, we've both been heavy our whole lives & struggled, so she will notice my eatting or lack of. I really don't want her to know. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated & welcomed! Thanks!

    SElf pay nightmare...

Definately shop around. I had BCBS, but if I didn't have insurance, they would give you a deal of like $11,000 that included everything & you got the program fee waived, and you got 1 or 2 after surgery care included. Shop around! Good luck!
