If you would be so kind.. I would like informatio- I did a body wrap years ago- and have been weary after surgery due to getting dehydrated...

Ironically I discovered Indian food about 5 months ago- shortly before becoming a vegetarian and LOVED it!! I ate the most amazing lentil soup, the naan was ok- I stayed away from the rice- I also had a lentil salad, couscous something or other and tried a peice of chicken but couldnt take the spice- Now being a vegetarian I have started cooking with different spices and such to flavor the veggies- curry being 1 of them- LOVE it!! I'm sure if you take it slow- avoid the naan and rice for now you should be ok... the lentils are FULL of protein!!

I almost burnt my "bat wings" this past weekend making something hot on the stove and needing to dump it into a strainer... about killed me wtih the burn... not only are they huge, now they are a hinderance and also a hazzard when cooking.. lol hoping for surgery next year to remove them...

I ate home made potatoe soup and didnt have an problems- the intake is minimal that the carb content didnt bother me- I did however blend the potatoes, carrots and celery to make it totally liquid after they were done cooking- it was yummy and a pleasant change from the broth, jello, etc... good luck!

Could This Be Linked To Wls?
lml32937 replied to HopeThruFaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree and often wonder why people feel the need to justify every little thing to WLS?? If anything perhaps you are eating better now and getting more Fiber, eating more balanced nutrition etc and your body is VERY happy.... I would increase your Water and get the hemmroids treated. -
Question Everyone?
lml32937 replied to DIRTYMESKIN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being a vegetarian these things are a staple in my diet.. Why would you NOT eat them?? -
Yes you can drink alcohol but personally it isnt worth it because a) you get full to fast and you get buzzed to fast... and the only regret I have is that I didnt do it sooner- I had a horrible time recovering/increasing my foods and even with that I wouldnt go back and change a thing... Good luck!

Help... Gaining Weight Back
lml32937 replied to sexypeaches33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will flucuate regularly for a while-2-3 lbs I think this is normal but also I would not become a slave to the scale- many things to take into consideration, your exercise, your intake, your sodium, where youare with your monthly etc.. there are a lot of things to consider- I have always said when you hit a stall either change your diet and/or increase your activity to break the stall- 99.9% of the time it works.. Keep it up! -

lml32937 replied to proctor67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have done the MLD, strapping, reed sleeves, stockings etc.. the only thing that helps is the pump... -
I have had back pain that has worsened the more weight Ioose as well- I do have a documented herniated disk in 3 places in my back. I notice the more Ioose the different I stand, the different I sit etc... the weight is somewhat shifted and I am now sitting in/on bones I didnt feel before- I am side sleeper- same thing- my knees are bone on bone now and hurt mid night and I have to change posisitons- Its weird... I have seen a few doctors who just encourage me to keep exercising and make sure to do core strengthing- I avoid pivoting too much at my waist because that is what aggravates my problem...

Full Liquid Diet And Peanut Butter
lml32937 replied to kamrie37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre op I used peanut butter in almost all my shakes- post op I switched to almond butter and it was a staple- the straw thing didnt bother me I got a really big one that didnt require much sucking- but I also used a spoon as well. -
Protein bars aka glorified candy bars can be dangerous... Look at the sugar/carb count-
-
Perhaps try a juice/protein shake- liquid fast or something just to kick start??

How Can People Not See It?
lml32937 replied to butterbean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one I see on a day to day basis ever says much- the only time someone says/notices anything is if i havent seen them for over 1 month then they do- Also some people may be hesitant to say anything because bringing attention to your weight loss may bring up a negative connotation of what there perception of you was "before"... I can joke with friends who often say- did you color your hair?? did you change your make up?? is that a new shirt?? etc and say to them no ive lost over 100lbs in 3 years doofus... its NOT the hair color but people I feel less close to I wouldnt.... Dont take it or the lack of them saying anything to heart- you know you are doing good and keep doing what your doing- the only thing that matters is that you look and feel better to yourself... -
Any Change Post Op On Edema In Calves?
lml32937 replied to proctor67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lymphedema as well (thyroid cancer made it worse) and since loosing weight it is much improved- of course not gone but instead of using my pump every day i am using it a few times a month- more if i'm on my feet and it has a chance to pool. -
Gotchya- after becoming a vegetarian I have found alternative protein sources that enable me to be both satisified and get my quota's and eat veggies all the time... If you like to read.. get this book- Eat to live- it will change your thinking....
-
Why on earth are you depriving yourself of vegetables??
-
I did boiled, steamed and sauteed until about 2 mos ago then did raw. I am about 7 mos post op and raw is no problem.

Full Off 3 Pieces Of Watermelon? Uh Oh..am Scared~!
lml32937 replied to Delta_35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that every bite of food you take after you get to solids is all trial and error- things loved before I cannot have and things I really didnt care for have become my norm. One day I can eat eggs the next not so much- it is very fickle and very weird- You just have to take it 1 day at a time and for a while stick with what doesnt make you sick but fills you up- I can promise you this- I ate so much jello that if you paid me a million bux I wouldnt eat it now.. lol same for broth-- haha.. so you live and learn- this whole sleeve is like starting all over again and babies take baby steps... sorry for that analogy but it works... -
I have since become a vegetarian so I eat a LOT of carrots both raw and cooked- salads too- so for me I can say I used to not eat a lot of vegetables- now I eat them to my hearts content with no problems, concerns or worries... you cannot over eat on veggies and fruits, grains and greens. I feel 900% better and like my sleeve wish I would have done it sooner!! I stopped eating the Protein bars and ready to drink shakes because they have too much sugar and carbs for me- I also didnt like the taste after changing the rest of my diet. NO processed foods here anymore- and when/if I do- it makes me a little woozie...
-
I don't enjoy drinking as much as I did pre-sleeve because a) i get a buzz off of a few sips and a few sips fill me up and that is wasted calories to me....

Hey May And Others Sleevers! Help With Question. :)
lml32937 replied to judy7120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If this is all at once yes then I'd be worried but if it is over the course of a day I may not be that worried- He will however the more he heals and the tmore he increases to solid like food have no choice but to slow down- the liquids go down pretty easy for most- he is lucky he doesnt get nauseated or vomit because of eating that fast. If you are monitering his intake that much- is he assuming any responsiblity as well?? You have to remember that each doctor has his/her own post op diet- personally lobster bisk is a very rich soup- at 2 weeks out I could muster about 5 tsp in about 10 minutes- if it continues he may want to talk to the dietician. I personally am addictied to the food network both before and after surgery- I love to cook and I love to learn- I dont know why that would be a problem....
