  1. Despite all of my complications, I absolutely love Dr. Crawford as well!! I wouldn't trade doctors for anything!
  2. In January of this year I had a lapband revision due to a 'specialist' STRETCHING my band when they did a EDG on me. Before the revision I had several problems with even being able to keep liquids down. After my surgeon went in and did the revision he confirmed that it was stretched, so he did something funny with my stomach to make the Lapland stay in place (my insurance didn't feel it was necessary to completely replace it, so after a year of fighting FINALLY agreed for the REVISION) All was well at first after the revision, but now after my third fill on Thursday I am unable to even sip on water. Every time I sip on water I force myself to keep it down for about 15 minutes and then it makes its way back up. I've tried water, slimfast, and poweraide. It seems like more is coming up than is going down. I know it's just Saturday, but I am already miserable. I'm both thirsty and hungry, yet I can't even drink. I've learned from my problems last time that going to the ER they are just going to make me drink a GI cocktail and then send me home, they never even called my Lapland doctor!! When I went to a regular "doc in a box" doctor they gave me pregnancy test, like that was making me sick or something So, what do I do? I work in a prison and I'm scared to death I might get dehydrated and pass out or something...and that's not exactly the best thing to do in any environment, much less a prison!! Help!! Any advice would be great!!!!

    Help! Can't Even Sip Water!!

They told me to go home and drink poweraid, I never even saw the ER doctor, I saw one of his 'assistants' and the regular nurse that took my stats. She said that it was evident that I was dehydrated and that they SHOULD be giving me IV fluids, but the ER doctors assistant didn't think that it was an issue, so just sent me home with instrutions to drink poweraid. It's a very small hospital and they aren't use to people with Lapband issues, and they're very ignorant when you try to tell them. So, no, I'm not exaggerating. However, the more I force myself to sip on water I beileve some of it is actually staying down. I didn't really even try to drink anything after the first time I got sick Thursday... All day and night yesterday I just managed to get down half a bottle of water and felt as if a bottles worth came back up, where as today I've gotten down almost a full bottle of water already and only feel that about half of that amount has came back up.

    Help! Can't Even Sip Water!!

No, our infirmary at work is inmates only....it's actually only a minor infirmary at that, anything major we have to take them out to local hospitals I'll give him a call when I get off work and see if he can help me out. Thanks for the advice, I'm beyond frustrated at this moment in time!!

  6. Hello all, this is really my first real post. I was banded on 06/05/09 and haven't really had too many problems until now. Two weeks ago it felt as if my band had tightened itself, I couldn't eat much at all, but could still handle liquids. Then, over a week ago, I could no longer handle any solids OR liquids. I throw up EVERYTHING. I had the worst reflux/heartburn I've ever had in my life, just from a sip of water. One sip of water would cause that extreme pain for about 4 hours. I didn't think it had anything to do with my band, so I went to a GI specialist, he did an Upper GI and ended up having to stretch my esophagus bc it was swollen shut, and took a biopsy to see if I have berrits disease. I was able to hold down 2 glasses of water and 6 small shell noodles that night. But the next day my problems were back. I have not been hungry at all, and I have not been nauseated either. When I throw up it's just like my body is rejecting it, the water comes back up as a foam. I'm able to drink vitiman water/powerade a little bit easier than water (not much) but it comes flying out the other end shortly after! I cannot lay down without throwing something up, I have to sleep sitting up. Someone please help me! What could be wrong?!?!??
  7. So I went and saw my surgeon today (God I love him!!!) He called the 'specialist' that ran the light down my throat and got the video and notes from him. Turns out the specialist didn't stretch my esophagus, he STRETCHED MY LAPBAND!! Dr. Crawford took out half a cc of fluid and sent me to the hospital to have an upper gi done, after the removal of fluid it showed that liquid was going thru with absolutely no restriction. He told me to just get hydrated today, and try eating tomorrow. I go back and see him in two weeks. Dr. Crawford said that he didn't know what kind of longterm affects the stretching of the lapband is going to have because it's never happened before, so, we'll see what happens. I'm just SOO upset about it because before I saw the specialist I told EVERYONE I had the lapband...but he stretched it anyways.
  8. Yeah, I'm going to see my surgeon tomorrow, I'm scared to death! I've never been thru anything like this in my life, the GI specialist had NO bedside manner what so ever and explained nothing to me, and I don't know if he knew anything about the lapband and where it's supposed to be when he did the Upper GI. Thanks for the advice and story!
  9. Hey everyone! I've been considering lapband for a while now, but I just recently got serious. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Crawford in Anniston Alabama for Tuesday to see what steps I need to take. I'm ready to start a new life, I'm tired of having a BMI of over 45, 43 at best. Yo yo diets are killing me! I'm still young and I want to enjoy the rest of my life. If anyone's every used Dr. Crawford I would really appreciate your feedback, but I could also use some support on here. Soo, I hope to meet some good folks! :scared2:
