Hi - anyone else starting this journey OVER 50??
Petunia825 replied to Decolady's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and welcome, I will be 56 next week and was banded three weeks ago 7/24. My only regret is not doing it sooner. The surgery went well and had no pain or complications. I honestly feel good and I'm very excited about my new journey. Hope you are able to start yours soon. Best of luck. -
Awww don't worry you'll be fine. Do try to get some rest b4 you know it will be time to get up and get ready. Trust me you will sleep tomorrow lolol. Best of luck and will be thinking of you.

This was a struggle for me. My dr and dietician said no caffeine, however, I only drink one cup in the morning. What I have done since being banded, I drink half a cup with cream and no sweetner. I have lost the taste for sweetners. Good luck to you.

Hi there, I'm in mushies stage and was told/allowed to eat 1/4 c of cottage, ricotta cheeses. One egg cooked any way and 3 ozs of yogurt. Best to you.
-
and of course still on liquids. I was told that I should take small sips of my liquids but I haven't had any problems drinking normally. My questions will this change once I start on mushies or regular solids? Will I feel full once I'm eating even w/o a fill? Thanks:mellow:
-
Thanks Restless, I will see the nutritionist this coming Fri and will certainly tell her. Goodness I hope I didn't mess up especially being so close to the mushies stage.I'm such a pig!
-
Thanks everyone for your responses. I guess I will wait and see. Today I was starving and figured what the heck its only 3 days till I see the nutritionist and start on mushies. So I decided to have some cottage cheese. Oh my goodness it sat in the middle of my chest for about 3 hrs. I walked, drank some water and went "potty" (u needed to know that!) and finally felt better. I guess I will stick to liquids till told different. I learned my lesson! Mind you it wasn't a full stomach feeling....more of an indigestion feel.

Reading thru these posts is very encouraging. Something to look forward in a few weeks. I had no idea that we could have popcorn. I love those small bags (100 cals.)of kettle corn flavor. -
Does full feel different after banding?
Petunia825 replied to hopeandhealing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hope I was wondering the same thing as I'm a wk post. I feel like a football sits inside and my throat has something like a lumpy feel. Yet my stomach still growls at times. I guess that feeling must be the full signal. -
Just got banded yesterday and few questions
Petunia825 replied to HeavyK44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi HeavyK, I was banded 7/24 and feel great also. I too had those thoughts and feelings as I lost 16 lbs pre-op. When all is said and done I know I would not stick to any diet long enough. As a matter of fact during the pre-op diet we celebrated my dd b-day. I gave in to bday cake and then kept picking at it all evening. Next day as I reflected on this I realized I need this help. So onward we go girl. Btw I have had diarrhea all week long dr said it was normal and to make sure I have all my fluid intake. Best to you. -
Dubee the ones I buy are small gel caps. I would only take one at a time and wait inbetween as they can get stuck in your stomach.
-
Restless that is wonderful and happy for you. Today I made a wk post-op, got stitches removed and lost another 2.5 lbs. I'm feeling good and happy with my decision. I have noticed that going up and down the stairs is a little easier and I was able to cross my legs the other day. Imagine that! Congrats on your weight loss.

Glad to hear you're home and that all went well. I was banded three days ago and shared your feelings as well. I haven't had much discomfort so no needs for pain meds. I have walked around the house and gone up and down the stairs. Also walked around the yard. Didn't want the neighbors seeing me walk slowly, but tomorrow I plan on going outside for a nice walk. Its good that you are burping, all that air that was pumped into you will come out one end or another :smile2:. Today I took off the bandages and showered and felt great. Please come here and lets share our progress. Hugs

I was banded just three days ago so I'm not experiencing this yet. Years ago when I delivered my kids I went thru that, my hairdresser would cut off a few inches and I used to take cod liver oil pills. Yuck but trust me they worked. Same thing happened to my daughter and we did the same and it also worked. Try them you never know.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Petunia825 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded yesterday 7/24 and everything went very smooth. I arrived at 10 am for surgery at 12:00. Hospital staff were amazing, dr Bauman came in to greet us and then the anesthealogist (sp)gave me some happy juice in the i.v.and I was so relaxed that I was blowing kisses to all. Dh was told were the waiting room was and off he went. Two hours later I was in the recovery rm for the best nap ever. Came home by 6:30 and slept some more. I'm quite sore and I think I'm hungry. Nah maybe not! Best of luck to everyone who will be joining the bandsters world. -
doing fairly well. Discomfort is minimal but I'm missing food. Not a hungry feeling more like I want to eat. I have been drinking the protein shakes and was surprised that I can take all 8 ozs with no trouble. I do get a full feeling but that's it. Is this normal?
-
I was told the same thing by a friend's daughter who happens to be overweight herself. She has lost a few pounds on WW (again) and feels that I could do it w/o surgery. I was really surprised at her comment as she is well aware of our eating behavior and failures. I wish her well though.
-
That is wonderful. Congratulations on your success.

hello everyone, I will be banded on Fri and was wondering how comfortable will underwear be. Do I need to purchase big ol grannie underpants. Also how about regular clothes any recommendations?

Thank you ladies for your replies. Will make a trip to "wally world" for something inexpensive.
