smaller than your biggest haters!
OnTheWay to Thin replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I could see doing that to my husbands xwife, she is such a bit-- and always saying nasty things about everyone, but especially me. Some people need to be taken down a peg, so dont feel bad, I would have done the same thing. -
I find it so amazing how different all the post op diet instructions are. Even my doctor and the nutritionist that the sent me to have differences. And they also recommended a book, weight loss surgery with the adjustable gastric band by Robert Sewell and that one is different yet on the post op diet. I am doing well, started on mushy stuff slowly yesterday and had no issue at all, just chew, and watch portion size, but I fidn I am full after very little food. The doctor says that must mean that I have some initial restriction probably due to some fat between the band and stomach and as I lose that will change. So unless I have issues I dont go back now until 6 weeks post op. Feeling good, only real pain tenderness is around port, all incisions are healed well, have one major bruise around port but otherwise doing well. I was able to work a full day yesterday so my energy is increasing as well.

anyone not full off protein?
OnTheWay to Thin replied to amberd910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried using other non starch veg with the protien? That may help but hang in there, I agree it is not a cardinal sin to have something other than protien, but maybe if you can find other healthier veg that work that might help. -

OnTheWay to Thin replied to Aloha1344's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WOW that is wonderful, you inspire me as I was just banded last week and have quite a ways to go, all told about 140-150 lbs. You give me hope that I can do it too. Thanks for posting. -
I have a friend who was banded last year and I noticed she does that, not sure why exactly, but she does seem to touch or pat that area quite a bit.
-
Hopefully you will be spared, but boy I have not been. LOL

My original bmi was about 52.7 and was 50.1 on the day of my surgery. My doctor did not mention there being a ceiling on bmi for lapband surgery. I would defiantely get a second opinion.
-
Yes it is kind of surgeons choice, my doctor said many use it is their kind of signature so mine is on the right midway between my belt line and bra line, which is great, nothing hits it.

When females lose weight they have hormone flux, the reason is that we store estrogen in our fat, as that fat melts, the estrogen hits our bodies and causes some of this problem. So hang in there. It popped me right ouf of menopause... I thought I was done. LOL

Anyone have restriction without a fill?
OnTheWay to Thin replied to Dani257969's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can drink liquids without much restriction, but it takes very little soup to make me full. Dont know if that makes sense. I have my followup on Friday, hopefully at that time I can be moved up from liquids... -
I went back to work today as well but only made it until 2, sitting up in a chair all day was hard and my desk was hitting one of my incision sites. So I am taking it easy, and hope to do better at work tomorrow.

Wow Randy your stats are very close to mine, I am just the female version. Conrats on your sucess, how in the world have you lost that much so fast? Also, now that your weight is down how is your knee, that is my biggest worry, I have arthritis, bone on bone and a lot of pain.. -
At The End of My Rope
OnTheWay to Thin replied to tizzylish's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tizzy unfortunately, if your insurance program specifically excludes wls there is nothing you can do to get it covered. Many more programs are covering surgery but your employer has to purchase the benefit for it to be covered. It is unfortunate that medical necessity does not pre empt this just yet, but that is the way it is. I just had my surgery last week and am blessed that my insurance did cover it, but I know had it not I would have found a way to do it. My knees are bad and I have to lose this weight or I will eventually not be able to walk so that was a pretty big motivator for me. Good luck and let us know if we can help in any way. -
What did you do with your clothes once too big?
OnTheWay to Thin replied to LindaD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow that is terrific, I know in the office where I work we have a couple of people in the 400 lb range and they have a really hard time getting and paying for clothes, so I am sure that anyone that you donate to would be very grateful to have them. -
Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
OnTheWay to Thin replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Add lots of water to your diet, the more liquid you get the better you will be with this. -

OnTheWay to Thin replied to Scorpyian1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hang in there and dont get down on yourself, try out the new doctor and explain all your fears and concerns. I am sure with a doctor that you can communicate with you will be on your way. -
Newly Banded -- Weight Loss Has SLOWED!
OnTheWay to Thin replied to laurenm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is normal, your first week or so you are on liquids and it is very hard to get the necessary calories that way, once you start back on food your weight loss levels out, just keep following the program and it will start again but will be slower. If you are not using an online food journal I recommend that it counts your calories, protien and so on and gives you a good idea of what is working and not... Good luck, I hope to be on food soon too, I was just banded the 28th. -
30 lbs in 30 days and NO appetite
OnTheWay to Thin replied to PawPaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing that happens with us women is that we store estrogen in our fat, so as we lose weight we have a bizzare imbalance in hormones and that can cause both depression, hot flashes and so on. I agree you need local nutritional support so check to see if you can locate one to help you and then start eating slowly but regularly. Focus on high protien high nutrient foods and I bet in 3 days or so you will see a big improvement. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. -
Loosing the pre op weight.
OnTheWay to Thin replied to heyred1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it by following a 1100-1200 calorie a day diet, eating every 3-4 hours. Lots of high protien, lots of veg, no rice, pasta, starch of any kind and make sure you get as much water down as possible every day. No soda, or carbonnated bev, I drank lots of crystal lite, water, tea. Hope this helps. -
Water question
OnTheWay to Thin replied to pjd3253's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow your weight loss is amazing. How many calories are you taking in? Also are you exercising, if so what kind? I was just banded last week so you inspire me. -
I need someone to talk to
OnTheWay to Thin replied to lindsayb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I had the surgery last thursday and I was like you quite anxious, but, it is much better once you get through it, I am very happy I did it and am healing very well, I know I have to lose the weight and I know I can't do it and keep it off on my own. Hang in there this is a time of anxiety but it does get easier. -
Hi guys and thanks, no this was no where near as severe as a c section or old fasioned gall bladder surgery. I am on day 3, pretty tired off and on but doing well. Pain is managable, not taking anything but tylenol now.

Has anyone considered Self adjustments???? I am desparate here!!!!!
OnTheWay to Thin replied to Nimits's topic in Rants & Raves
Good lord, dont even think about it that is way way over a paitients head! You will damage yourself and your band. Not worth it. Call your surgeons office, ask to speak to his PA or his nurse, tell them what is going on and ask what to do. Good luck. -
Hi I had my band placed yesterday, and it was easier than I expected, I was wheeled in to surgery at 9:30 and was out and talking to them in recovery by 10:50, I am sore but it is managable, for me I had to do this, I am too young to be cripple and my arthritis is ugly and heading that way if I can lose this weight once and for all. Have you ever had any kind of surgery before, that seems to be the hardest if you have not but this was a pretty easy surgery. Good luck.
