Any November 2009 Bandsters??
HappyHomeCC replied to 120inside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded the same day as you. I only lost about 8lb post op... I am eating solids now. I am maintaining the weight I did lose though, trying to stay incontrol, wicked head game. I have my first fill this coming Monday, I am thankful I don't have to wait so long. I have been trying to train myself to drink slowly and eat slowly during this time since if I screw up it doesn't hurt! Don't fret just try to make sensible choices, eat off a smaller plate and practice chewing and eating slowly. .... don't forget walking and other exercise! Good Luck -

Congrats Dean123 take it easy and really rest, take the pain meds, it will make you sleep even if you don't need them for pain. They had to load me up with IV Fluid just so I wanted to pee. LOL I was being a wise guy when they sent me to pee, standing on one foot to flush the toilet, you know the drill! I amazed myself. -

Hey Wharfrat, you are sweet. I hope your wife has a speedy recovery!!!! Dr Horgan is the best you know! My brothers are wharf rats since around the ages of 9 and 10 back in New England.... what Wharf do you hail from??? LOL -
I love coffee, it doesn't make me hungry, actually does the opposite. I have switched to decafe now, who knows for how long.... but I throw isopure choco or vanilla in the morning so that I have a gourmet drink... and that way I am good til lunch. then I have coffee in the afternoon for a "snack" LOL. I don't put sugar in my coffee or tea. I do use 2% for my coffee though. Patterba, where do you find low fat half and half? I have never seen such a beast!

I've been postponed 6 mos for gaining too much weight
HappyHomeCC replied to AbbeMac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
they took my weight at consult and I was told that I could not gain one pound or I would be postponed, I had to sign a paper for that agreement, then preop diet they took my weight and said I had to lose 10lb prior to surgery. I only lost 7.5 but considering the weight I had lost since my consult and that I had my period,It figures, for surgery day it was no problem. I was interested and losing the weight from my first visit... I wanted to start modifying my diet so it wouldn't be so hard later. So it was kinda like practice. I also went into it thinking Ok Help is coming so I won't yo-yo back up. It is ok to give it a go. It is not hopeless anymore. Every 7lb or so I would stablize for a couple of weeks and then I would work on it some more. Now I am stable at 36lb lost and I have my first fill next Monday. I am so thankful to be banded before the holidays. I am SO excited for 2010! I am on my way to being the best I can be. Happy and Blessed turkey day to all of you. Remember eat the TURKEY FIRST . I am thankful for my band and all the support I have to succeed. -

Stop asking me how much weight I've lost!
HappyHomeCC replied to tripletmomma2000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see myself in your post. Over the years I would lose and get to 169.... get too much attention and inquiry and begin to binge again. I am at 184 now and I am trying to work it out. Starting out through this lapband process I enlisted the help of a counselor, I have not seen her since 2 weeks preop and thinking I may need to schedule another appt soon! -
November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)
HappyHomeCC replied to PrincipalsOffice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I still cannot get over the number of us banded this month! Wild. I am 2.5 weeks post op and I feel really good. I only used the pain meds for 36 hrs after sugery and I only did it to render myself useless so I could sleep and no one would expect anything out of me ;o) it worked, I only had to take a half dose each 12 hours vs a full dose every 4 hours. I am a wicked light weight when it comes to drugs LOL. No I have a horkin bottle that will cover my great grandchildren! I have a few ouch moments but nothing to write home about. I went to see my mom Nov 15 her 61 b-day, I try to stay clear of her the rest of the time because she takes a negative toll on me..... I wasn't going to go if I did not feel well since I have no plans to tell her about my surgery. So I took the kids over since they made her gifts. She actually seemed happy to see us for a change. The card with cash I am sure didn't hurt either ::snickering:: So after a while she asked if I could bring in her cases of costco Water from the car.... I looked at my 11 yr old, she looked back at me... I didn't know what to do. I told her actually I can't lift them right now, I had hernia surgery 11 days ago. LOL I lied, since I didn't have hernia problems, but that shut her up and she didn't question me... thank God. I went between meal times so I didn't have to eat. (normally I take her to lunch when I visit) I have lost at least 20lb since last seeing her maybe more. I was slightly hurt that she didn't notice but that is ok. Hopefully more will come off by Christmas and she can at least give me a compliment.... too much to ask right LOL. That is ok. I am doing this for me and my kids. No one else. Since I have stopped the liquid diet I have been at a standstill on my weight, but have not gained, thank God. It is really hard for me to eat slow. I am trying. I have eaten too much twice, and was uncomfortable. So now I know what that feels like. So I feel like I am in training for when I actually get my fill on the 30th. Drinking was a challenge the first week due to the swelling but I don't have that problem anymore. I don't feel it anymore. I am strategizing for thanksgiving.... I LOVE TURKEY. and stuffed mushrooms. ;o) I believe I am doing the cooking as I have every year of the last 10! Anyone have some Faves they can suggest!!!??? -

HappyHomeCC replied to 120inside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. I had to bump up the calories 1000 wasn't doing it for me, went to 1200 some days and I spaced them out. I also got my period surgery week, pissed me off since I don't get a period hardly ever since I have the Mirena! You will be fine just a wee bit more! -

Any book recommendations?
HappyHomeCC replied to SumSum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have that one and the high Protein cookbook. My most interesting ones have been the "biggest loser" books from the show Simple Swaps Cookbook Fitness Calorie Counter Oh and the YOU on a diet is great reference in explaining how the body operates. simple explainations, humor, and illustrations. -
do you think i would be ok if i did this ?
HappyHomeCC replied to fatgirlnomore7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 20lb before I started my mandatory liquid diet. Personally I would not do slimfast.... Protein drinks are a better choice. I think slimfast has less nutrition and more sugar, I think that is the reason the dr said Not to purchase them. I would forgo the Juice as well and do herbal teas and water. for your dinner I would eat the protien and veggies first then eat a little of what ever else is there . JMO actually my experience Good Luck -

does anyone regret having the surgery over losing weight on there own?
HappyHomeCC replied to fatgirlnomore7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
for me my insurance covered very well, I wish I had done this a couple of years ago. I could have avoided the mental and emotional misery of the last couple of years. However, during the process, I lost a lot of weight and was proud of that ... and I thought well maybe I can just do it this time and stick ot it but I know that is not the case in reality. I can lose but I get to a point and go back up, further than where I started. I am anti drug for myself. So during this process I have been doing counseling, and serious diet eval so I feel better equiped to make this long term. And I have the Cop in my tummy that I respect, and fear at once. So I am really happy. I am 42 and I feel my life is just starting again. I feel great already .
