Feeling guilty
HappyHomeCC replied to ahealthierme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am thinking you need to hang out with different people, that is not good support for you ESPECIALLY when you are healing. At this moment and on ... don't cheat , don't jepordize your healing process. -
wls before surgery?
HappyHomeCC replied to moviestartaal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my counsult date I was weighed and told I could not gain one pound..... then I have the preop 2 week liquid to do and they are looking for me to lose a min of 10 lb on that.... to date I have lost 22 and I begin the liquid diet and I get reweighed on this upcoming Wed. So from the scale # on Wed I will need to lose 10 lb , that is how they gauge if you are following the 2 week liquid diet. -
How to jump start the wagon!?
HappyHomeCC replied to nfl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that is a tough undertaking for sure. I do family childcare so I am always home so I am thinking I am up for the challenge. My kids are almost 9 and 12 and I have explained to them what is going on. My daughter , she is the older, told me that Grampy like everyone else has the right to be Safe, healthy and loved, and dispite the challenge she said it is the right thing and the only thing to do. the sun and the moon shine over my dads head in her eyes. I am so proud of her outlook. I know God will bless you and your partner for taking her in, it was the right thing to do, I admire you, I may ask you for pointers if I have him at home with me. I did call social services to go see him because he was being left alone while his wife was working, nothing appropriate to eat, no running water, no phone to call for help or to check on him. After the very detailed report I made all they did was talk to him outside and he was ok that day, so they deemed him able to make his own decisions...I was so mad they didn't go inside and check on his conditions. I had sent his dr a letter letting him know my concerns to start with sent it certified etc. He called me a week later and was unwilling to help since it was too uncomfortable for him!!!!!!! My dads wife is a hoarder so you can imagine the conditions and they live out in the woods in a single wide mobile. . Frustration!!!! Thank you for sharing your story. -
How to jump start the wagon!?
HappyHomeCC replied to nfl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel, my dad is across the country from me. He is 61 and has rapidly progressing dementia and I am beside myself right now. he has a wife that is a control freak, she herself is dying from cancer and she won't relinquish him to a family member it seems til she is gone. He needs something between assisted living and a nursing home. I am trying to bring him here to live with me to take care of him for as long as it is possible and then place him somewhere near me so I can take care of him there and watch out for him. If he gets left there there will be no one to make sure he is getting the care he needs and doing unannounced visits etc. It is hard because I am heart broken over his condition, and I was always daddys girl. I hope your dad can move to assisted living I think that senario allows for such dignity. and a zest for life. there are so many activities in those communities it is great. I will pray for the best for your family -
How to jump start the wagon!?

nfl 1 I hope your Dad is doing better. In the past I have used the www.mastercleanser.com to change my diet. I went to lacto vegan many years ago using this method and it went really well. I was lacto vegan for 3 years. then got married and well you know how that goes. I am currently doing the mastercleanser to detox before surgery to "reset" myself. It takes away the cravings too... then as you re introduce food you can see if you pay attention what really isn't agreeing with you. Also if you have unknown food allergies... I have been reading alot lately about food allergies and how we crave what what are allergic to and it sets obesity into play. If you don't put bad stuff in after that you should not have any cravings for them. you can also lose a pound a day. Good luck , I hope this helps you -
Approved by Aetna without complete Medical History
HappyHomeCC replied to kossde's topic in Insurance & Financing
Wow I didn't have to submit 2 yrs of medical, I also have Aetna Choice POS II. I did a psych eval required by the surgeon and other testing. 3 month diet. I am also just over 42 BMI to start and no comorbidities. The Aetna Nurse Liasion for my husbands company called and told me I was approved. She is a bariatric patient and was on the phone with me for 30 min giving me suggestions and pointers. told me I could call her if I ever needed to talk or support. I was somewhat impressed. I didn't expect it to be so personal , warm and fuzzy. -

supervised diet???
HappyHomeCC replied to moviestartaal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the time you start implementing changes in your diet and exercise, or to introduce new habits and begin cutting out the bad stuff...The time to show your commitment to change your ways So use your nutritional counseling to get into position with knowledge about things you can do today to make a difference and how you need to eat after the banding etc. It can be a great education. -

congratulations on your approval!!!! -
from what I know having thyroid problems Soy is not good for you if you have that...... I have tried Vanilla Almond Milk and it is really yummy.... maybe the nutritional stats are bad though ...LOL My daughter had a bit of it a couple of months ago and I tried it.

First things that came to my mind are Anemia, have you had your iron checked and B vitamins? have a blood test done to find out about any deficiancies. Also are you chosing the right foods for energy or eating something you may be allergic to is sapping your energy. Depression? Lots of things that could be checked and it may be a simple solution. I hope you nail it down and feel better.

Lactose intolerance
HappyHomeCC replied to lessofm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not interested in therapy, just an awareness of what doesn't agree with me... sometimes I am aware and some times i am not. Some foods if you are allergic to them will produce more mucus in your body. or discomfort it doesn't have to be a severe allergy. I was lacto vegan for a few years and felt very good, I was healthy. After marrying a carnivore that went out the window LOL. my chiropractor also uses applied kinesiology to find allergies to foods and meds. -
Lactose intolerance
HappyHomeCC replied to lessofm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was reading an article recently about food allergies and weight issues, how we crave the food we are actually allergic to... it could be that since you have probably eliminated many foods from your diet your are hearing your body on this food??? I have always wanted to do the allergy testing so I called my insurance the other day and they cover the testing and visits but injections at 90% So I am going to see if that helps me out..... My luck is that I am allergic to wheat and things that are in most foods.... I know that since I cut most of the caffeine ( I am drinking decaf so it has a small amount) My breasts don't hurt anymore. so there is something to be said about all that. My thinking is if I find out what the allergies are then cut out or really restrict those foods the weight loss should be even easier and then to maintain later. just being aware will be helpful. -
I am curious after reading about the various Bandsters saying their bands slipped etc , or have even suggested they are concerned that their band has slipped. Did your surgeon sew it into place to prevent slippage? One surgeon I talked to said that they have almost no slippage since they began that practice. Anyone want to chime in? Thank You

You know I was on the fence for a while and told myself, Oh I will just change for a different fill dr ... It was stressing me out. So I spent a couple of days on the phone looking for a new dr. Picked one and I am happy I did, Put my mind at ease knowing I would receive great after care. And I have a great surgeon! take the plunge don't settle, you will feel better.
