Thanks for the info Diva! Going to check it out. How's everyone doing out there?
-
Hi Diva, Feels good to have those staples out doesn't it!? I remember that's about when I started to feel better overall. Mine were inflamed too, I figured I would be horribly scared forever, but everything has faded except for the port scar which is still red and bumpy but way better than it was 6 months ago! So what did the girls with 2 years out have to say? Positive things I hope!

Hi All. Good idea for a check in. I mostly post in my local area forum these days but it's great to touch base with people who are working within the same time frame as me. Things started really slow for me, and bandster hell was truely hell. I didn't hit restriction til about 2 months ago and have been losing steady since then. Thank god, because I was starting to really regret my decision. Now I'm down from a size 22 to a 16 and feeling great!

Hey IWBAL, Definitly call tomorrow. That doesn't sound right. Although I've had my band seem to get tighter 2 weeks after a fill instead of right away. I'm learning that it's definity not an exact science.

Do good intentions count? Right now I'm enjoying the cool bug free fall season and walking in the park a lot. Getting kinda cold for biking. I'm seriously considering getting a wii fit, but holding off due to my track record of good intentions and no follow through. I have my membership at the YMCA which while it does add some wieght to the purse I carry does me no good when I don't use it. I do plan to start to use it.. I even have my classes picked out that I want to try...

Thanks Diva! It's only since my last fill that the pounds have started to come off, so be patient, it will happen!

Great that a support group might be developing! I did the survey. Anyone getting a fill tomorrow? I'll be there for 4:30.

Does anyone else feel like the Monty Python
moonbeam replied to melliecat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yah.... that last one just sits right in the throat. It's either a get rid of it, or be uncomfortable with it for 2 hours deal. fun time! -
Ok I have a few list of protein rich foods. What I need now are some ideas from people and suggests for someone who doesn't cook very well. How do you put the protein sources together. What are your most frequently used sources?

I worry about eating out as well. I'm in Medical Sales as well and constantly eating out. I have a meeting to go to next week that is going to be stressful! 3 meals a day for 4 days catered and provided by the company. no food choices. I'm sweating thinking about it already. Half tempted to get an unfill before I go! Suggestions on how to handle this would be great!

Port Pain--worried and need advice
moonbeam replied to Gerberdayzee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to get port pain...little twinges here and there. My doc said it was scar tissue forming around the port. I'm 5 mths post opp and don't feel them anymore. -
Doesn't hurt me a bit. Miss it a ton, have it a couple of times a week, but still a huge improvement over th 4-5 I used to have a day.

I just started with the daily plate on livestrong.com and it tells me to eat over 2000 cal a day inorder to lose 2 pounds a week. this is based on my current weight of 219. I am eating less than that and my weight loss has stalled, so I'm wondering if I am not eating ENOUGH and that's what's caused the weight to plateau.
-
How many calories a day do you eat?
moonbeam replied to Sammysue78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Me too! Daily plate said eat way more than I am. I'm wondering if that thing is way off? Then again, I've been getting about 1200 cal a day for the last 5 days and have not lost a pound. So now I'm wondering am I not eating enough and my body is going into starvation mode to hang on to what it's got? Ahhh! This is all so confusing! -
Hi IWBAL, You're a freak of nature! lol jk, I don't get that, but I'm sure you're not alone.
-
Ok, here's a silly question. I think I"m almost there with my fills, this last one has me chewing very well and eating slow, but I can still eat way more than a cup. What does full feel like?

Anyone going for fills this coming tuesday? My appointment is at 5:50.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
moonbeam replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yikes that sucks! I had a similar thought occur to me. I'm not at the right restriction yet and I'm totally dieting and working my tush off to get some of the ponds off. my concern is that they will not fill me because I'm losing weight, yet all the weight loss has to do with me and not my band. These guys need to take you seriously. Do they do it under fluoro? (sp) I've read some docs do fills that way and they can learn more about it. -
I was the same. I was banded in April of this year. Until 2 weeks ago I felt almost no restriction. Now I think I'm getting close, I need one more fill I think. PATIENCE is the key to this. I have to warn you, if you were anything like me it could be months, But it does work, you just have to be patient. Hang in there!

Centrum Chew-ables for me as well. There is a good calcium supplement called caltrate and it comes in a chew format in chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. They are yummy!

Hey Lori, how did the fill go? Does anyone know about flouro fills? I'm reading it on some of the other threads. Their docs do the fills under flouro to help them reach a good fill level. Does the maples ever do that? Has anyone had experience with it? Also does anyone know how much Maples charges for a fill after the year is up? I never thought to ask that question.
-
Curious minds want to know.. how much do they charge you for a fill?
-
Hi All. Not going for a fill until next tuesday. Any word on the new Nurse at Maples? How she's doing? Last time I went I had to wait a couple of hours for the doc's as she couldn't do mine. I don't want a repeat of that again!
