I say lifestyle changes and portion control. It's the truth.

Using additional weight loss methods in conjunction with the Band

What's the 5 day pouch test? I drink coffee daily. No more pop though. -
Medications that can't be crushed; how do they go through the Band?

I have no problem taking pills at all. Have even taken 3 Advil Liquid gels at the same time with no consequences. (wasn't thinking, just tossed them back) I'm at a decent level of restriction. -
I've been Bi Polar II for years now. I was relieved with the diagnosis because before that I was just clinically depressed and none of the meds I was on were helping. With the diagnosis came proper care and meds. What a difference!

I do the coffee cup thing as well. I'm "lucky" I guess that I live in a very cold climate and my ..coffee.. freezes overnight if I forget to throw it out. Very Gross topic! love it! lol

Happy New Year! This is the first year in many that I have not written in my diary that I will lose weight this year! I don't need to because it's not a resolution, it's a fact..thanks to my lap band! I do with the band would stop me from eating those yummy cookies and sweets my mom makes though. Mmmm. Went up and down throughout the holidays by about a pound. Time to get serious again and do my part by watching what I put in my mouth. Hope everyone had a happy safe and wonderful Holiday Season and all the best in 2010!

Merry Christmas to you too! I don't know about anyone else..but I'm somewhat happy to not have too much restriction at X-mas, Jan will be soon enough, but I want to enjoy my family time and be able to eat without being paranoid that I'll have to bolt from the table. I need a fill but not going to get one til after X mas.

Congrats Boomboy, welcome to the land of the band

Good luck guys!

It's funny how I thought it was going to be so hard to give up. I drank a ton of diet soda. Up until my last two fills I was still drinking soda. Now I CAN'T drink it anymore. It feels really uncomfortable and I burp big time. I've gotten used to it. My discomfort conditioned me to decide the pain of having it was worse than the pain of not having it.

My port area is now visible, but I'm over half way to goal. When I started out it wasn't. I have to look hard, and turn the right way but I can definitly see it. Most definitly can feel it.

Yippie! Just wanted to share with my new friends that I am now in the 100's and not the 200's! Haven't seen this number on the scale for years. Thanks for the support guys, everyone is doing so great!

Congrats on surviving week one! As for gas issues.. not some much gas, however I did notice that my bm's were not what the used to be. Guess lack of actual food will do that to a person.

Hey all! I ventured into my local gym today for the first time in forever and I feel great! BUT I need to know if there are any exercises that might help with saggy breasts. Mine are wondering what hit them (it's going to be the floor soon). Are there any exercises out there that can help with this?

Hi Diva, Good luck with the first fill. I'm sure it will be fine. I sure don't have a problem finding my port! It's a massive lump under my skin and I can see it when I look at myself in the mirror. They told me not to eat or drink anything for an hour before hand and to keep to liquids for a day after the fill. The half sit up seems to help with hitting the port. Good luck let us know how it goes!

Hi Canadian Girl, I can totally relate. I had a work function to go to and I really worked at it til then. I reached my mini goal and since then I seem to have stalled again. (those darn chocolate halloween treats go down way to easy!) I think maybe the key is to set small goes for ourselves along the way. If I look at the big picture I get discouraged, but if I say to myself I want to lose five pounds by my daughters birthday, (which is 3 weeks away) then it's an attainable goal. I'll let you know if it works! I have not lost anything in the last 2 weeks.

You guys are all doing great! Congrats! I was doing pretty good for a few weeks and now I seem to have lost my mojo. Have not lost anything for the past 3 weeks. I'm finding I pb, and get stuck occasionally, but I can eat way more than the cup of food they say we should be able to eat. I'm confused about whether I need a fill or if this is it? Man this thing has a learning curve I did not anticipate.

I hear what you are saying about eating on the road Fish. I work in sales and am often in my car during the meal hours. I have taken to carrying around Detour protein bars. They taste decent for a protein bar, and are way better for you than a chocolate bar. (which is what I used to do) If you think of any tips let me know what they are!

I totally understand how you feel. It took from April to Aug before I reached a fill level that was beneficial. I've started to lose on a steady basis now. Please hang in there and don't give up. Keep getting fills and be assertive with your doc. They are just people and sometimes we have to remind them that was are not just patients and bands, that we are human and need some reassurance.

Any Idea on how to stop/ avoid or control the gurgles? My daughter laughs at me all the time! Embarrassing when eating out with adults though...
