My surgery is June 1st too! I hope they have a good weekend and are ready for us.I go in at 7:30am.I tried the shakes last week and got so hungry.I decided to go ahead and eat my cravings so I won't be wanting them right after surgery. My Doc only requires three day clear liquid diet. My endo started me on insulin so I am getting my blood sugars down a little. Hopefully when they are more controlled I won't be as hungry.Let's keep in touch. -

Hi,I am getting banded June 1st too.I am excited and nervous.Getting banded in Denver,Colo.I am doing the low carb diet now My Dr doesn't require it but,my diabetes is so bad I figure I need to do all I can before surgery. He only requires three days of clear fluids before surgery.Keep in touch! -
The lap band costs 9,500 in Colorado. Dr.Kirshenbaum charges this for surgery and all fills after are only $15.He doesn't take any insurance so, that's why I didn't choose him.My Dr is Dr Brown and he charges 9900 for self pay.Fills are $50 after the first three.

Well, I got a letter from my insurance company today and moved my surgery up to June 9th.They only gave me until the 16th of June to get it done.I don't want to take any chances messing that up.I feel so fortunate to have my insurance pay for it.I only hope it will greatly improve my diabetes.

Hi, I am excited for you .My Dr only requires a three day liquid pre-op diet. I have been trying out the ISOPURE drinks and plan to order the Benprotein this week(an unflavored protien) to mix with crystal lite. It is cheaper than the isopure. I could have my surgery earlier but, I have other commitments that I have to fufill before the surgery.I think it is good though to have everything in place so you are mentally and physically ready. Have you been practicing drinking and eating slowly? Also, have you tried the protein drinks?I have tried Atkins and the Body Fortress(from Wallmart). Can't find chewable vitamins or calcium though.

Good news EVERYONE, I am not banded yet but, hope to be soon. I have had diabetes for 19 years and am on 4 different meds for it. My last AIC was almost 12. I am praying this will help me get my AIC down.My Dr does not guarantee it though because I have been a diabetic so long. How long have you had diabetes, the ones that are off meds?Good Luck to everyone. -
